It's one thing to forget a step (that you would have done, but forgot to "verbalize"), it's another entirely to do a step, but not get credit for it. My biggest gripe about the whole process is that it is nothing like how we do business every day. A good f'rinstance would be throwing a switch - you know all the steps, and do them, but because you didn't say, out loud, that you unlocked it before you threw it, you don't get credit for that step, and maybe even failed the test as a result.Spent Sunday cleaning up around the fire station for our anniversary events next week. Mom's in AZ, so no dinner with her.So it's back to the grind - might as well start with the usual bearclaw and Constant Comment tea.

Larry,
Have those "Instructors" (?) actually been on the street? Most of the time; you don't have time to "verbalize" anything.
When I went through my EMT class many, many years ago; our instructor kept mentioning the knowledge that we would get from our Textbook, but right before graduation, he told us we might as well throw the thing away, because what we learned on the street was a whole different story.
(and it sure was!!!!)
Willy, congrats again on getting your permit to drive. I'd like to Echo Joe's sentiment about using a Cell Phone when driving; DON'T!!
Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!
Mutt - It's not necessarily the evaluators - it's the state. The instructions on the sheets pretty much call for "verbalizing" everything, even though in the course of normal patient care you wouldn't. F'rinstance - I didn't get credit for obtaining the 'patient's' chief complaint, even though I had obtained that from the 'patient' within 20-30 seconds of beginning the station and the evaluator could not have missed it. What I didn't do was repeat it to the evaluator. Same thing when it came to deciding on the transport priority - I didn't speak up and specifically say what I had decided. I did include my transport decision in my care plan - but it took my instructor (and the 'patient') pointing that out to get me credit for it.
It gripes me that we have to change how we do things in order to pass the test.
OK, off the soapbox.

No problem there. I don't even own a cell phone, so I don't have to worry about being tempted to talk on one while driving. Some of my friends say they pity me, but I think it's for the better that I don't have one.

Got to agree with you on the "state thing", when I was certified, it was in both
Ky. and In. Had two different sets of standards; and the Recerts were a Royal Pain!!

3. beef stew w/cornbread
.
will take a plate for work please.sounds great.need to go help matt water the flowers.
Bob, of course the cornbread is baked in a cast iron skillet: no other way to get great tasting cornbread!!
Joe and Lance, have containers fixed for both of you, for work tonight. You each have a little bit of all three menu items for today. Hope you both enjoy your supper!
And for everyone else, the next round is set up on the warmer bar. Just fill your plates, and head on out to the patio, or up on the deck. I am sure the view up on the deck is even more spectacular this evening, for train watching!! And I will make sure that the CD player is playing train songs and sounds, that can be heard from either the deck or the patio!!
Hey ya'll! Just checkin' in here before I head out for six weeks of Air Force basic trainin' at Lackland AFB in Texas.
Hows the weather down there Ed?

At least you picked the right service!
Pardon me while I duck under a table.....
Seriously - best of luck. Basic isn't hard, even it it seems that way sometimes. Let's hope you get a career field you like!
Check in if you get the chance. I haven't been to Lackland since I did basic there a lonnnnng time ago.
Good Tuesday morning, everyone. Adrian, good luck and best wishes. Lackland is where my twin brother had his AF training, way back in 1972.
Coffee is on, fresh juice is made (oj and oj/tangerine, apple and pineapple); also have hot tea steeping.
On the breakfast bar this morning: bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy, fried taters, oatmeal, toast, blueberry and oat bran muffins.
Everyone have a good morning, and I'll see you all after Produce Tuesday is over and done with.
well our township decided to fill in their holes this morning.had to take a slight detour.adrian my brother and my dad both went to lackland afb for basic training.of course I dont think you have to worry about the buzz at the barber shop.

Adrian, good luck, and I won't make any "inter service" comments such as the Army is the only way to go!
And Beware when the "Barber" asks how you want your hair cut; they only know one way!

And if anyone has any requests for supper, please let me know by 2 p.m., and I will try my very best to comply and get the requests made for tonight.

Kinda remids me of 1972 and the "Reception Station" at Ft. Jackson, S.C.
Barber told all of us we could keep our hair if we wanted; we just had to sweep
ALL of it up and could sort our own out later!!
.....I beat those weird GI barbers to it....As a recruit, I already had a GI haircut so all they could do was pretend they were doing their thing on me.....
Three letters, one syllable...Hot.
Hot today, will be hot this afternoon, and most likely hot tonight, with a few thunderstorms to make it nice and steamy...and hot.
94 degrees right now at 2:30 pm.
Tomorrow it will be....yeah, you guessed it...hot.
Might even rain some more tomorrow.
Lackland...your gonna like San Antonio!
The Riverwalk is pretty good for a night out.
