tree68I always spread "weed and feed" when I decide to fertilize the lawn - and can see the difference.
Good luck with your lawn project. That is the only way I've found to prevent crabgrass. I use a pre emergent herbicide.

Good Saturday morning to you all. Joe, thanks for breakfast! I was real hungry this morning. Which is surprising, after having 2 bowls of chili for supper last night.
We too are beginning to dry out. Rain is out of here, but it looks like a very cool Mother's Day around here tomorrow, with a high only in the upper 50s. No more rain expected for us, until maybe Thursday, when we have a 40% chance.
Everyone have a good day, take care, and see you all later.
......Our Saturday morning here is overcast but calm and dry. But it doesn't feel much like Spring...First noted our temps at 49 earlier. The report up to 65 today, perhaps if the sun does come out, but without, I seriously doubt it.
Hope Mudchcken made it safely to Cincinatti last evening after his departure from his visit here.
Note Juniatha is on the forum this morning, so we'll say hello to her.
Best wishes to all Mothers for a happy Mother's Day....

Got our pizzas ready for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest. All the regular list of pizzas, along with apple, peach and strawberry pizzas for dessert. Everyone enjoy your evening.
I'm not sure what our current temp is, but, believe it or not, the sun is now shining! It had been overcast until now. Glad to see the sun for a change.
Had chicken pasta alfredo at the FD banquet tonight. It was OK. Pizza wouldn't have been bad.
Good to get the banquet out of the way. I seem to have inherited most of what's involved with putting it on. It is nice, though, to see the surprise when people get awards they weren't expecting.
Time for bed.

Good Sunday morning everyone. Very cool here, with clear skies and a temp of 44 degrees F.
Larry, were you a recipient of an award? I'd say, with all you do for the department, you deserve an award.
Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms: from Mookie, to Kathie Kube and all the rest of the Moms on Kalmbach's staff, and to the wives/mothers of all the guys on here!
Breakfast is ready: made some cinnamon rolls for this morning, along with pancakes, waffles, french toast, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs. And coffee is ready.
Everyone have a good day, take care, keep safe and see you all later.

Thank you CW. My daughter/family is in Malaysia right now on a missionary-type visit. She will be back the end of May, but with the magic of e-mail, she is never very far.
May 12 and we are sitting @ 36 degrees. Mid 90's on Tuesday. They "think" this will be the last of the cold weather today.

When I first checked this morning my temp. instrument indicated it was 41 degrees...but.....My grass {where still in the shade}, certainly appeared to have frost on it.....I know that's possible, as my temp pick up is 5' above the ground level as it shoud be....and I've seen frost as such before, at temps indicated above freezing.
Bright sunshine for now and probably will be all day.
So....weather extremes continue....Seem to be swinging in wider circles too.
Frost here at this time of the season, is somewhat out of normal....
Happy Mothers Day to all mothers on here.....
Soon we'll get ready for church....than with niece and nephew, for our Sunday meal...They spend the Summer up here from Florida. Purchased a small home here just for that purpose. Difficult night for our Indina Pacers, but another win for them as the Eastern Conference playoffs continue.
Happy Mothers Day to all!
I won't say it was "cool" here this morning, but when I went out to get the newspaper, I thought I saw several of the Robins wearing sweaters.

Well, good evening...
Well...we got to....35F with winds and snow/hail/sleet ...just a wonderful bunch of stuff for our viewing pleasure
I actually got a whole lot of rewiring done on a couple of yards and part of the back track here...now I can see if'n it will do better than it did the last time...dang tortoisii
Anyhow, have a peaceful evening...
I know it's Mother's Day, Ma Nature, but could you please stop playing yo-yo with the temperatures? It's wreaking havoc on some of our immune systems......
Finished up spring landscaping today, got a few more projects knocked off the list. Garden has been worked up, should be ready for planting when it finally warms up. Now I can concentrate my efforts on the inside, which can finally involve model trains again.....
Tomorrow, it's back to the daily grind of work, and the realization that I am approaching three quarters of a million miles traveled in about six years.....

Same difference here….Friday it was raining so hard it went sideways, flooded lots of the bayous out of their banks, muggy mid 80s…yesterday humid and 89, today, mild, maybe hit 80, sunshine and dry….ma nature must be bored and trying out new things for May.
Happy Mother’s Day to you all.

No accumulation, but we did get grauple - snow pellets (sometimes called "soft hail.") tonight, and it's been windy and cool all day.
Just got back from an interesting call. Dispatched as car vs pole, it turns out the car never touched the pole. The pole apparently broke from old age, causing wires to droop, and that's what the car hit. In the process, however, we think they pulled down the pole.
They ended up with the wire from a service drop wrapped around a front axle, so the car got towed.
While we were on scene we got snow...
It's only 8:30 in Phoenix, so time to call Mom and see if she had a nice mother's day.
morning
Monday done.breakfast is ready.Frosty outside.chores to do later.
Well, we found 2" of snow on our lawn this morning...now pretty much melted off..thankfully...going to a high of 44F later on...
Doing the work from home thing this morning..then off to meetings this afternoon...project managing is so much fun....
Mayhaps may get some train time in later on...I do have an operating session planned for Wednesday...heeheehee
Have a great day peoples!!
.....A beautiful clear sky and sunshine here this morning....but again, on the cool side.
Earlier, 41 degrees, and it's to rise to low 60's today....which would be 10 plus degrees below normal. But I must mow again, so this will be fine, after the grass gets dry.
Heard from Charlie...and he's on the go...{That seems like every day}....Highly in demand. "Fix it guy", and head on to next problem. Of course we speak of Mudchicken.
If nothing else, the weather reports on here are a lot more interesting than the local weather!
Q - Sir Chicken travels a lot and always covers a lot of ground really fast. That's why he talks about my "net" cuz you have to catch him as he whizzes by (but always driving very carefully!) That's why a personal visit is so fun - he manages to slow down to a blur. (plus I live just off an access road - Interstate 80)
Off to see if switch needed from heat to air today - a process I don't like - thermostat is programmable and labor intensive! You rent - you get cheaper commodities!
Moo....
SJ: you mean...you have...air conditioning? We have cool bedrooms, and that's about it. Not cheap, just frugal. Contractors were showing us the way heat and moisture will be controlled by the design of the insulation in the new room. Sticking insulation "up there" is a lot more complicated than it used to be. This will be the first room tall enough to allow a ceiling fan with headroom; that ought to help.Today is moving day--got to clear out the kitchen, because walls and cabinets will be removed tomorrow. This little work station may not last too long, either...Since last week, we've gotten a new breaker panel to replace the old fuse box, soffit and fascia on the new room, electrical conduit in the new room (we know where the switches and outlets will be), and black dirt on the neighbor's yard where things got chewed up. Our driveway has vanished, to be repaved this week (fortunately, we have a place for our car to sleep).

BC We live with the 'in" crowd - our duplex holds the cold in winter - in.... and the heat/humidity of summer - in. So central air is really important with a big winter wardrobe for lounging.
Been watching a little hockey. I was musing - if you tear someone's head off and throw it on the ice - do you later tell him that it was nothing personal - just part of the game? And if you happen to play on one side and then later get transferred to an opposing team to play with...well, you get the idea. Saw a stick go up under the visor - oops - I didn't realize this helmet was occupied?
I don't usually watch or even see hockey except play-offs. And it does keep me from seeing my seriously intellectual programs - like American Greed and Suze Orman (yeah, I really do watch 'em!) But any hockey is still better than - well, just about all of cable tv!

Going to be dull and cool again...high of 50F this time...tomorrow? 77F....up and down, up and down....
Off to work at work...have a good one!!!
Frost this morning. Up to +44F right now, but those balmy 70's are still a few days away...
Good Tuesday morning everyone. Just thought I'd drop in a say "Hi" to you all. Clear skies here in Shepherdsville this morning, going for a high in the low to mid 80s this afternoon.
Will be up in Louisville again next Wednesday, the 20th, for a visit to my family doctor. Will have to go without one of my meds until I go see the doc.
Everyone have a good day, take care and see you all later.
Yo! Houston! Come and get your 96 degrees! We are trying to have spring up here!
I wish this were Facebook and I could just click "like" on your post (Joe's, too!), but it isn't. So I'll just tell you that I'm out train-watching today in shorts and short sleeves (86 in Lombard right now), so Joe, it's definitely headed your way--no guessing involved!I'm trackside in Elmhurst while they're gutting parts of our house. I suspect the kitchen is completely devoid of kitcheny things by now. Last night was the first night that they left the passages between the old house and the new room open, and after today we probably have no choice. The final opening should be punched through where our dining room window used to be. In other news, it's outlet and switch boxes going in on the interior of the new room (who knows...maybe the kitchen, too!), the outside steps are done, the driveway gets paved today (add-on project, but very necessary).Metra has been having a rough time on this line today, beginning with switch problems downtown at Lake Street again. But the trains are only down about ten minutes or so now, instead of 30-40. Meanwhile, the freights have kept me busy, and I'm logging things nearly as quickly as I get them. And there's some good stuff, too! Time to pack up and venture back home. I had to retire my old computer case, and this one isn't quite as bicycle-friendly. That and the headwind will make it a long, hot trip back.
