Cannonball - you and I and a few others on here have lived thru the weather.  We don't have to guess at it.

Another line of thunderbumpers just rolled through, this time with a severe warning on it.  Just rain and thunder at this point, and maybe a little wind.  There's a little cell behind the line - we'll see if that does anything.

We got nothing here for rain...but to the north of us...oi....

I do not want to live through what we had in Woodstock ON back a few years ago...all I remember was seeing a wall of black right in front of our house....as I was headed to the basement...came out a few minutes later to see our neighbourhood stripped bare...nothing remained except my house and a neighbours.....scary....

Good Wednesday afternoon everyone.  Made it up to Louisville for my doctor's app. this morning.  He called in a couple of prescriptions for me (my hormone pills need to be refilled) and 1 for an antibiotic cortizone cream, for a rash of some kind.  I have bites/rash on my chin, neck, arms, legs & feet.  Guess mine are flea bites, from being out in the backyard w/the 2 girls.  That's the only thing I can think of.  When I got home, found out my brother went to VA Medical Center this morning, for bites he got over the weekend, when he & wife were down at the lake.  They (dr.s) couldn't even tell him what kind of bites he has.

Otherwise, everything w/my visit went well.  BP was up a little bit, and their scales say I weigh 10 lbs. more than what my brother/sil's scale tells me.

We've had a couple of small rain showers in the last hour, hour & a half.  Looks like sun's trying to come back out now.  Guess we'll make it to the predicted 78 F for a high this afternoon.

Everyone have a good afternoon/evening, take care, keep safe, and see you all later.

Under a severe thunderstorm watch until 11 PM.  Nothing on the radar for us yet.

Headed for the railroad tomorrow.  Have to learn some new territory.

There is not much fiber in corn--unless you eat the shucks or the cob--and you don't want to find either in grits. There's much more fiber in wheat than in oats.

Johnny,

My box of rolled oats says that a serving, 1/2 cup of the cereal dry, has 4 grams of fiber.

My wife's box of Cream of Wheat says that a serving, 3 tablespoons of the cereal dry, contains 1 gram of fiber.  Of course a similar cerial with whole weat would have more fiber.

Sitting in the South Somerset service plaza, have to go to Bedford, PA, in the morning. From there, it's anyone's guess, traffic should be interesting this weekend.
Oh yeah, doser valve in the truck quit the other day, fixed now, truck should not try to set itself on fire for some time, I hope......

Yes, whole wheat cereal, with 20 or more grams per serving is truly good for what ails you. As to Cream of Wheat, I learned, when I was quite little, that it is insipid--but my wife liked it.

Having eaten grits quite often when I was growing up, I still enjoy it from time to time, but since it has so little fiber it is not a regular item in my diet. And, rolled oats do things to me I do not appreciate.

Randy:

Worked at that Plaza 56 years ago for a short time....so know just where you are.  And, as you must certainly know, it's good the 2nd Allegheny Tunnel is in place now, as over a holiday before it was, could have held you up {traffic}, for some time in getting to Bedford....Happy Motoring.

A week ago, the forecast was calling for sunny skies with mild temperatures for this weekend.

Now there is the possibility of snow.  Temps are already approaching freezing for the night.

Would have been nice to have a decent day for our first official trip to Big Moose.  Went on a qualification trip yesterday, so I'm legal on the hill (1.1% for five miles...).

Good Morning from a very soggy San Antonio.

Rain yesterday and today here has resulted in flash flood warnings.

We are, however, grateful for every drop of rain we can get here.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday!  Cowboy

Good Sunday to everyone.  Everyone doing okay here in Shepherdsville, as far as I know.  Paul & I spent time at the hospital yesterday.  His daughter lost the baby she was carrying.  She was in for a while yesterday for a D&C, then went home, around 2:30 yesterday afternoon.  As far as I know, she's doing o.k.  Saw where she just called, and her Daddy answered in the garage.

Grrrrr + Brrrrrr = Is this weekend over yet?

After the festivities Saturday celebrating our first official trip to Big Moose, we started our regular season today, with a bang, literally.  As we were about to depart Thendara with the first Big Moose Brunch Train of the season, our HEP genset died a painful death, leaving the passengers in kinda-warm cars with outside temps in the mid-30's.

They enjoyed their brunch and the ride, though.

The afternoon trip was a little better, only because the sun started to peek out and the temps were rising at least a little.

Did enjoy my longest run as an engineer so far - all the way from Thendara to Utica, about 50 miles.  Did pretty good, although having the supervisor of locomotive engineers looking over one's shoulder can be a bit nerve-wracking....

For now, I'm pooped.  My waterbed sounds more and more inviting all the time.
