Good M'arnin'....thanks for breakfast....

Well, I went to bed at silly o'clock this morning and got woke up at another silly o'clock by our little Spring..who was running around our house after ....a sparrow....Tongue Tied. How did the bird get into our house, you ask? Stupid window at the back staircase ...slightly openedSigh

Oh well, weather here be just a little cooler and sunny...still.....high near 70...as opposed to 78...feeling like 84F....Confused

Today's agenda includes a bunch of paperwork for work and a bunch of RR planning stuff for my RR....sigh.

Edit... missing letters...sigh...

...Watching and listening to all kinds of weather conditions, and reports around this country, something is "changing" to make our "extremes" deeper ea. season, so it appears.

I don't know if it is correct to call it "global warming" or climate change, or what ever...but something certainly is "different".

I thought perhaps communication was that much better now and we're hearing about ea. "happening" around our country in more detail, but now....it's gone beyond that.

Just installed my Hummer bird feeder for the season, we'll watch and see now how much "difference" their arrival time might be.....Wouldn't be surprised if that "normal" arrival time has been effected as well....

MC, hope you've gotten a chance to try the Cafe there.  We'd join you, but this is one hectic time around home and family, with showers, weddings, an anniversary, house construction (might be a small crawly dungeon annex when we're done), Lilac Time, and so on in the next couple of weeks.  If you're still hard at work on the 10th, we'll smile at you as we go by (or maybe check up on you concerning lunch).

Much cooler today than yesterday here...I went back to long sleeves, long pants, and shoes and socks.

Date night tonight--going to a movie theater to see a live cinecast of "Wait-Wait Don't Tell Me".

Re:  Lilac Time...last year by this time Lombard's lilacs were long gone.  This year, we have nothing but buds so far.  The Lilac Festival starts this weekend, culminates on the 19th...I think the timing will be great!

Found the Cafe yesterday (Not where I expected it to be, wrong side of da trax, virtually in the mill and 11 blocks north of where I'm working on Virginia St. in the 'hood.) Treated the other half of the crew to lunch. The place was a madhouse and packed. Like the "sarcasm - served daily" sign.

Headed home, may pester cat after dancing with railroad lawyer.

Hope you enjoyed it!  Just about the last place you'd expect to find anything like it.

Hello everyone.  Getting periods of light rain here in Kentucky today.  Began around 6:30, 7:00 this morning; sometimes just sprinkles, sometimes drizzle, and sometimes steady rain, like right now.  Not too heavy, just a nice, gentle light rain shower, just enough that you can see it coming down. Temps holding steady, between 58 and 60, 61.  Not supposed to get any warmer than 60, 61 this afternoon. If anyone is betting on the Derby race, better look for that mudder, cause the track is/will be wet, pretty much all day.

My niece is coming over to take me shopping after awhile, so I can find a birthday card for my brother for tomorrow.  He & his wife have gone down to her Mom's house (she's in a rehab center, recovering from her surgery), to check on things there, water plants and check on Mom's mail.

Everyone have a good afternoon, take care, keep dry if you're in the rain-getting areas, and keep safe.  See you all later.

Joe:  I think we saw a train going south with what we think was fracking sand.  Covered, small gons with tarps and then 10 tankers on the end.  Loaded or empty - no clue - too far away to check the springs.

Since the whole train was covered gons - not just a handful, that was how we came to this conclusion.  Any thoughts?

Tomorrow is busy day - so an early Happy Birthday to Paula (and twin)  Maybe the sun will shine for your whole day!  If not, be glad for rain, since it will shut off very soon!

Burrito cars with "dirty dirt"Question

I wasn't close enough to smell them, either.....

We thought about that, too - but this was a really long train of tarped gons and then the oil cans....so we may never know.  They went down the St Joe line and since they fixed that track just past the old depot (going south) they really go thru there now at a pretty good pace.

They were going the right way to get rid of dirty dirt or  glo-in-the-dark dirt.

Was amused to see that the outlet mall at Ashland was flattened and scraped clean going thru Friday. How come some of us can't work in an area AFTER they scrape everything off ?

Good Sunday morning everyone.  Been raining all night here, and is still raining.  And it'll continue for most of the day. Temps in the low 50s, and not supposed to climb very much all day.  May drop 2 or 3 degreees, from what I heard from a couple of different local TV stations' meteorologists this morning.

Mookie, thank you for the early birthday wish.  Got a bday card in the mail yesterday from Walt.  That's the only one I've gotten so far.

Joe, thanks for breakfast.

Everyone enjoy your day, take care, keep safe and see you all later.

Smile  Quentin;about mid april we saw the first  ruby throat hummer. He was looking for the  feeder we have. After a few minutes he was back with his "sweety"? . We filled the feeder  and  1/2 hr.  there he was and the fighting began with those who followed him. They sure can hit warp speed flying.. Watched part of  improbable fairy tale ( Unstoppable) .  Kind of like " Peabodys Improbable  Fairy Tales"  that was a kiddie tv show years ago. There was an impressive rail grinding scene or two with lots of sparks from the grinding wheels tho. HEE  HEE.

Happy Cinco-de-Mayo Day!! (and NOT the sinking of the mayonnaise ship!)

Happy Birthday to CW!! Cake Pizza Drinks Coffee Happy B-Day

Rainy, dreary day here, temps to get only to about 60; big let down from the 80 degree temps we had this past week.  Guess I'll stay in and sit at the workbench building a new All-Nation NW-2 and rebuilding an older General Models/All-Nation NW-2 for the model railroad.

All-Nation has been out of business for Several years, after it's owner died. I was very lucky to pickup an un-built kit at a very good price.

(these kits are almost non-existent,generally price prohibitive, and I got this one for very little.)

It will go quite well on the layout, along with the older one that was converted from 3-rail to 2-rail about 30 years ago.

After seeing how the hummingbirds behaved when we did feed them, I've opted not to bother.  they're neat to have around, but...

Beautiful day to help grandson celebrate his fourth birthday (actually tomorrow).  He was so excited about the toys he got (Octonauts) that he had to be convinced to pay any attention to his guests - including the kids that are otherwise his favorite friends.

Time to get to work on the blueberry patch.  Gotta plant it!

Good luck with your blueberries.  I had 6 plants 2 years old.  However, last winter we had a cold spell and that is what must have killed 3 or them.  But I still have the other 3.  Also I have a raspberry patch.  I did loose a few raspberries this winter too but not very many.

Peace be with you. A belated Happy birthday to CW. Sorry to be late, but that's the story of me life.

We have had a drizzly weekend with flood warnings for other parts of the state. Here, we got a whopping great .14 inch...

Everyone have a great week and stay safe.

Well, it's Monday again, at least I'm on vacation this week......

Got home Saturday afternoon, after an early morning run up from Trenton, OH, with a hot pallet load for MillerCoors.  Yesterday was "Remove the carpet" day again, this time from our dining/family room, getting ready for the installers to put in the new laminate floor for Tuesday.  Am glad we put two fans in the windows blowing out, the results of bringing over the wrong cats first hit our noses as soon as we started in on it.  Plan of attack for today is to take carpet to the installer's dumpster, then Marlene will be scrubbing the floor to remove what's left of the dirt and "other things" whilst I take care of lawn order outside, mowing and fertilizing (gotta keep the lawn looking like everybody else's in the neighborhood, ya know).  A cedar tree is also scheduled to come out today, opening up the front of the house a bit.....

Breakfast, then on to the fun......

Cannonball.....I installed our Humming Bird feeder on May 5 this season and I've seen none of the birds yet....Item:  I note last season on this date I had mowed 14 times by now, compared to current seasaon: 4 so far, but due to do so again today.  Hence the implied difference in this season to last....

And to anyone intrerested in anything of Marine mechanical engineering, I note {on live cam I'm watching}, the Salvage teams are now beginning to install the "floatation devices"...{Port side}, 15 will be installed on ea. side of the capsized Costa Concordia cruise ship that went down in Jan. 012. The issue is to float it yet this Summer.  Lots of prep. have been completed for it to set on when {and if}, they get it to a vertical position.

The first effort to move her will be to "right" it to a vertical position....{she's laying on her Starboard side now....in roughly 50 ft. of water {but the sea floor slants down steeply to 300'}.....and then if they get it vertical, the next step will be to install the 15 floatation devices on the Starboard side, and the next step, when ready, will be to try to float her....I've been watching for months, and it's certainly a challenging project. Over 400 million dollars worth...!

There - the blueberry plants are in.  Their new home cost well more than the plants themselves, but I may include a few flowers there, too.

Hopefully, I'll see plenty.  I do like blueberries.

Next planting project will be a couple of big pots with leaf lettuce - another favorite.

And the weather for the project was beautiful.
