Back to my Indiana home...Been out east twice this month. Everything is so pretty and green.  Love this time of the year to have blossoms and bright {fast growing}, lawns.

My transportation worked perfect, and the good Lord guided me {us}, safely thru all the miles.

Best wishes to all for a good week.

Church will be next this morning.  Then with niece and nephew for our Sunday meal.  Not sure where yet....Tomorrow morning we go in for our permanent crown instation...That will be a piece of cake....

Have a good photo I took of the massive RR bridge over the Monongahalia River  {believe that's correct}, I took just by the camera pointed out the windshield while driving.  But with the process of installing photos on here, I don't enter into the frustration any more.

Strange, it's so simple to install photos on others sites.....????

Yo!  BOC - go outside and pull that long freezer curtain along the border!  We will have 70-80 today and tomorrow and maybe Tue and then the high until next Sun will be 55.  I won't eat your breakfast roll if you do this for me.  Shy  I was just beginning to thaw out from winter!

Q - welcome back home.  Will catch up with you privately as soon as I am in mah puter chair for more than a few mins!

Chicken?  Calling Sir Chicken.... r u east of us yet?

Joe - got left over treats?

Saw 18 tarp covered hoppers in old BN colors.  We have never seen the tarp covered ones.  Didn't someone say this could be one of several things - like contaminated dirt or something that might blow if untarped?  Going to go with that unless someone has something further on this.

Thanx, Joe - first time seeing them, I couldn't remember what all they could be.  Think you are right on!

Told Millie I want to get up early to go train watch - she laughed out loud and then closed her garage door!  Guess that means we won't be doing much early morning let alone overnite watching!

Looooooong day.  Airbrakes in morning, locomotives in afternoon.  Also took the written test for some new territory.  Need a check ride and I'm ready to go.

Learned some interesting stuff - we'll be making a few changes in how we do things.

Also learned this weekend that not even the FRA knows how to interpret the HOS laws now in effect...

Stopped at the PBS auction on the way home.  My shot of the locomotive at Greenfield Village was up for sale, but I don't think it moved.  There was no bid on it when I left due to extreme tiredness.

Off to bed.

Good Monday morning to everyone.  Cloudy here this morning, will be mostly cloudy all day, with a little bit of sun peeking through the clouds later on, supposed to get up to low 70s today, and up to 80 tomorrow & Wednesday.  Then another cold front comes in Thursday, bringing chances of rain, thundershowers for the weekend.Guess that means if you bet on the horses in the Derby Saturday, hope there's a good mudder in the mix.

Didn't get to go up to Louisville yesterday:  niece is still restricted to rest as much as possible.  She is really hoping she doesn't have to continue that for the next 7 months, til the baby is born.

Everyone have a good day, take care, keep safe and see you all later.

Good Monday evening to you, Cherokee Woman.  Back east here in north Jersey we've had more than a cloudy day.  There has been a light rain.  I welcome it.  Saturday I finally finished fertilizing all of our flower beds and it with give the fertilizer a good chance to soak in.  Tomorrow I'll plant beets and perhaps put up some sticks -- pea brush -- for my peas to climb on.

Ms Mook - if you're missing any BNSF engines, they're up here.  Heard the DS talking to one of them today.  Didn't have the opportunity to chase them, unfortunately.

We took our lunch trackside today for about 2 hours.  One of our "associates" that sits there quite a bit said it had really been a slow day.  He wasn't kidding.  Now I know why there wasn't much!

But we did see about 5 trains - and a crew laying new short rail (spring cleaning as it were) and putting in some new ballast under rail we had been watching "bouncing" for a couple of months.  Evidently the crews were getting seasick and it finally got fixed.

Send us CSX and NS and you can keep the BNSF engines there!  Cool

Good Wednesday morning everyone, and Happy May Day to you all!!

Beautiful morning here, with plenty of sunshine and a temp in the low 60s, going for a high in the low to mid 80s.  We actually had to turn on the a/c yesterday afternoon.  I had started off with windows open, and the a/c on fan only.  That didn't last long, though.  Guess sometime this afternoon, will have to turn the a/c back on.

Bro & SIL are at work and Shelby is at school.  Allie's Uncle Richie came & picked her up last night (late, like around 9:45, past bedtime), and didn't leave w/her until about 10:30.  They'll be bringing her back sometime this evening, and pick both of them up again tomorrow evening.  Schools are closed Friday for the Oaks Races.  Need to remember to get a Bday card Friday for my brother, as Sunday will be our birthday.

Trying out the new washer here at my brother's.  Their's bit the dust Saturday morning, with water pouring out underneath it.  It has all kinds of sensors on it, and if you forget to put something in, tough luck, because once you put down the lid, it is locked until cycles are finished.

Everyone have a good day, keep safe and take care, and will see you all later.

Checking in to get all my e-mail!

CW - I have a friend that had a townhouse - washer/dryer off bedroom on main floor.  She never turned the water off.  So beautifully finished basement and bedroom were very carefully washed in about 2 feet of water when she got home from work.  Sigh

Joe - won't get trackside until probably first of next week.  Went from 80 to mid-40's today and will stay this way until early next week.  Then back to mid-summer.  May see snowflakes tonite.

Sir C - I bet the pix on the derail would be spectacular.  With the latest spate of falling over, I wonder why anyone would want to work for the railroad.  A carnival ride and you get paid to ride it.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  Beautiful sunny skies, with a temp in the low to mid 60s, depending on where you are.  Should see a high later this afternoon in the low 80s.

Have to stay close to the house phone today, as we're expecting a phone call from the furniture store, to come out & repair the couch.  Middle cushion had a nice little split in it, when they brought the couch into the house last month.  They are to be out tomorrow to fix it, but need to listen for them to call, to set up a time for them to come out.

Have the breakfast cart/warmer set up, ready for anyone who comes in hungry.  Everyone have a good day, take care, keep safe and see you all later.

Yesterday, I saw my first robin--and a magpie--as I set out to begin my walking. The streets here have some interesting hills, and it may take a little while to get used to them.

Most of my books are now settled in their new places, and I am working on the magazines that I have saved.

The first two days of May have not presented spring weather--below forty each morning, with snow yesterday morning. There is hope, however, that spring will arrive.

In the 30's this morning with melting snow.  Guess we are back to winter and then straight to summer next week.  This week we have gone from throwing the bed covers on the floor and turning the ceiling fan on medium to adding another blanket to the bed last nite!

But I won't complain.  Iowa got 11 inches of the white stuff.

And thru all the rain and blizzard-type north wind - I heard a resident woodpecker trying to cut down a tree!

Ah nature!

MC, hope you've gotten a chance to try the Cafe there.  We'd join you, but this is one hectic time around home and family, with showers, weddings, an anniversary, house construction (might be a small crawly dungeon annex when we're done), Lilac Time, and so on in the next couple of weeks.  If you're still hard at work on the 10th, we'll smile at you as we go by (or maybe check up on you concerning lunch).

Much cooler today than yesterday here...I went back to long sleeves, long pants, and shoes and socks.

Date night tonight--going to a movie theater to see a live cinecast of "Wait-Wait Don't Tell Me".

Re:  Lilac Time...last year by this time Lombard's lilacs were long gone.  This year, we have nothing but buds so far.  The Lilac Festival starts this weekend, culminates on the 19th...I think the timing will be great!

Got through all the meetings just fine.

Sitting at home after last meeting (fire dept) when a department in the NW corner of the county got toned out for an "outdoor fire."  A dozen fire departments later, the fire is finally out, having burned through a bunch of swampland adjacent to the St Lawrence River.

A couple of fire boats were called in to deal with areas along the river that couldn't be reached on foot.  My department was called to stand by with a tanker, and to use our utility truck to tow a fire department air boat to the scene.  Another truck ended up doing the towing, so we just ferried some folks up there.

I'm hoping they throw the book and the clown who started it.  Despite a statewide ban on such fires, he decided to burn up a bag of trash.  At least no property of value was lost...
