I won't say it was "cool" here this morning, but when I went out to get the newspaper, I thought I saw several of the Robins wearing sweaters.

The meteorological prognosticators have mentioned the word "snow" in the same breath as my area...

At least the sun is out right now, even if it is quite breezy and only in the 40's...

Gotta remember to call Mom today.  I'm prone to planning such activities earlier in the day, then getting involved in something and forgetting later on...

When I first checked this morning my temp. instrument indicated it was 41 degrees...but.....My grass {where still in the shade}, certainly appeared to have frost on it.....I know that's possible, as my temp pick up is 5' above the ground level as it shoud be....and I've seen frost as such before, at temps indicated above freezing.

Bright sunshine for now and probably will be all day.

So....weather extremes continue....Seem to be swinging in wider circles too.

Frost here at this time of the season, is somewhat out of normal....

Happy Mothers Day to all mothers on here.....

Soon we'll get ready for church....than with niece and nephew, for our Sunday meal...They spend the Summer up here from Florida.  Purchased a small home here just for that purpose.  Difficult night for our Indina Pacers, but another win for them as the Eastern Conference playoffs continue.

Thank you CW.  My daughter/family is in Malaysia right now on a missionary-type visit.  She will be back the end of May, but with the magic of e-mail, she is never very far.

May 12 and we are sitting @ 36 degrees.  Mid 90's on Tuesday.  They "think" this will be the last of the cold weather today.

Good Sunday morning everyone.  Very cool here, with clear skies and a temp of 44 degrees F.

Larry, were you a recipient of an award?  I'd say, with all you do for the department, you deserve an award.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms:  from Mookie, to Kathie Kube and all the rest of the Moms on Kalmbach's staff, and to the wives/mothers of all the guys on here!

Breakfast is ready:  made some cinnamon rolls for this morning, along with pancakes, waffles, french toast, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs.  And coffee is ready.

Everyone have a good day, take care, keep safe and see you all later.

Had chicken pasta alfredo at the FD banquet tonight.  It was OK.  Pizza wouldn't have been bad.

Good to get the banquet out of the way.  I seem to have inherited most of what's involved with putting it on.  It is nice, though, to see the surprise when people get awards they weren't expecting.

Time for bed.

Got our pizzas ready for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.  All the regular list of pizzas, along with apple, peach and strawberry pizzas for dessert.  Everyone enjoy your evening.

I'm not sure what our current temp is, but, believe it or not, the sun is now shining!  It had been overcast until now.  Glad to see the sun for a change.

......Our Saturday morning here is overcast but calm and dry.  But it doesn't feel much like Spring...First noted our temps at 49 earlier.  The report up to 65 today, perhaps if the sun does come out, but without, I seriously doubt it.

Hope Mudchcken made it safely to Cincinatti last evening after his departure from his visit here.

Note Juniatha is on the forum this morning, so we'll say hello to her.

Best wishes to all Mothers for a happy Mother's Day....

Good Saturday morning to you all.  Joe, thanks for breakfast!  I was real hungry this morning.  Which is surprising, after having 2 bowls of chili for supper last night.

We too are beginning to dry out.  Rain is out of here, but it looks like a very cool Mother's Day around here tomorrow, with a high only in the upper 50s.  No more rain expected for us, until maybe Thursday, when we have a 40% chance.

Everyone have a good day, take care, and see you all later.

I always spread "weed and feed" when I decide to fertilize the lawn - and can see the difference.

Good luck with your lawn project.  That is the only way I've found to prevent crabgrass.  I use a pre emergent herbicide.

...To all Diner customers.....I can report Charlie, {Mudchicken}, has arrived in Muncie, and has finished his work.

We made contact, and I guided him to our domain here and  he found us on the first try...Not an easy task, for someone whom has not done so before.

We had a pleasant, visit and conversation for almost two hours.  And now he is on the way out of Muncie and headed for the Cincinnati area, roughly 100 to 125 mi. or so distant from here.  So all is well with him and he will arrive there this evening.

Hi everybody!  Man, we have had rain most of the day.  This morning, around 9:45, when my brother & I left the house, it wasn't doing anything.  By the time we got on I-65 NB, it started, and when we got up to downtown Louisville for my dr. appointment, it was pouring.  This was my 6 mo. checkup w/the cardiovascular dr.  He said everything looks good, and set me up w/an appointment for Nov. 8th.And it poured on us all the way back down I-65 to Shepherdsville.  Currently, we have a "dry" sky.  Maybe its over for the rest of the evening/night.

Hope you all have had a good week, and wishing you all a very good weekend.  See you all later.

I knew there was a reason I bought the fertilizer with the weed control in it.....

Randy....It takes a bit of effort, but boy the result sure makes a difference.  This yard has been treated now for over 35 years, and it certainly has made a difference.  My way of doing it is for our yard ser. folks apply 4 treatments / season...and by paying them up front ea. season, a pretty good discount in price.

Q - I agree on the slow down a little.  Before we know it, you will be helping the Merry Maids!

Yes, Jen....I know.....They even dropped my charge 10 dollars....Wonder if they didn't find enough dirt for me to qualify....Just kidding....{but they did drop the charge}...we get dirt just like anyone else, and I have to get at it after so much time....

But Bev is correct...need to slow down at times.

Got some rain today, more due tonight, so just putzed around with little projects today.  Got the electric rotor tiller out yesterday and spent a half hour working up the garden.  For all the rain we got, it was very dry.  Will probably work it up again on Saturday before we plant, just to get it worked a little deeper.....

Plan for tomorrow is to finish up most of the yard work around the house, make it look pretty for the summer.  After that, might get the sheet of foam I have sitting in the garage and start work on some displays for our curio cabinets, so I can have my model trains on display.......

Q - I agree on the slow down a little.  Before we know it, you will be helping the Merry Maids!

Our spring color only lasted a couple of days.  Between frost, snow, rain, wind - it never had a chance.  But while out on a fishing expedition yesterday (one bite) we found that this year everyone is decorating their lawns with cute little yellow flowers!  Maybe going to make wine?  Hmmm?  Mischief

Still cloudy, sprinkly but about 70 - so will enjoy until next week when summer arrives with a bang!

A nice morning here in central Indiana.  A bit of rain overnight...have not looked at the rain gauge yet.  Hoping grass will dry soon, as it's my 3rd day and that means another mowing....and to make sure of that, it was fertlized again yesterday, and with additional rain....Oh boy...!

Mod. temps here this morning....just a nice Spring morning...

To make it even nicer...{Jen}, had that special phone call just to "check in" before 8 this morning....And advising me to slow down....

Ok, but after I run the vacuum this morning, waiting for grass to dry.  Dishwasher to unload too.  Car to put thru the car wash...but it's not "real" dirty...but i'll get to it soon....Merry Maids to come Monday, 13th...

Everything green, is very, now....Wish people in the area would do more against their dandelions....The seeds blow around.  Some do, but many don't bother with them....

Understand M C will most likely be visiting our Munice town re: some RR work soon.....Know just where the area involved is.

Wishing a good day to all.....

Got the front lawn mowed before the shower set in - looks like a damp afternoon.  At least passers-by have a nice view.  The back yard can wait. But not for long...

Been working on a "bucket brigade" house.  Just a front and a roof that bucket brigade teams can throw water on and fill up a bucket for bragging rights.  I'll post a picture when it's done.

It's a companion to another prop I built that has hinged 'flames' in the windows so kids can knock them down with a hose.  The things I do.

Both will make an appearance at a fire truck muster at the local historical museum in June.

I have reached the time in life when I have to look at my atomic clock to see what day it is!

Tree - not much real rain.  Just sprinkles - but we take any moisture we can get.

Driver saw some small birds - so pounded the bird books and puter to find that they were migrating yellow-rumped warblers.  They liked our driveway and garage roof for whatever reason.  Only stayed for a lunch or two.

Still have the woodpecker/flicker trying to take down a tree.

And...heading off to fishing hole in a few min.  It isn't all that warm (70), but think fishing fever has finally arrived!!!  I am taking a good book to read and the promise of lunch afterward!  Beware Bass!

Moo....
