A nice day yesterday - spent the afternoon out in the sun.  Saw a few trains.  Heard UP derailed 41 coal cars SE of here.  Don't know if mt or full.

Such an exciting day!

From what I'm reading, the best part of the football game today (which I didn't watch) for the 49er's fans was the blackout.

Not too many people impressed with the halftime show, either.

A couple of dustings of snow.  Pushed the first one off the driveway earlier.  The current round can wait till morning.

I haven't even checked in here today....Seems the days are getting shorter or maybe the computer is getting more active....But another thing, I've been on the phone for an hour and fifteen minutes.

It's still cold here and possible snow in Indiana again tomorrow....However, most of it to be in the northern sector....Here, possibly 1 to 2" of the stuff.  Had 15 degrees when I first looked this morning....made it to church and a good Sunday meal.

Wish everyone posting here a good week.....

Oh Tree!  And I whined at 6 inches.  But it was like yours.  I scooped a little on the front porch and when I threw it off the porch it just glistened and blew all over.  Me!  North frontage and north wind.  Bad combo.

But to help you feel better, it was 40 here today and lots of sun and lots of ick on the streets.  Millie now has a lot of freckles - and she just had a bath about a week ago.

Ms Mook - You'd have trouble finding Sir Chicken here today.  Snow total as of 7PM is 17", all since this morning.  Maybe the dust trail off his feathers would help.

The snow on the picnic table in the back yard measures 13", but that's been settling all day.

If the wind comes up, it'll be trouble, though.  This is pretty fluffy stuff and will blow around at the slightest hint of a breeze.

I've been tasked with our railroad's radio upgrade.  We're on hiatus, so we've got some time to play with.  It's still a challenge.

Devil  I had mah chicken net out and the alarm went off!  Caught me mah favorite travelin' chicken!!!  Fed him some bird seed and when mah back was turned, he snipped a hole in the net and took off!

Did find out he has been wandering around for 10 days.  Will be good for him to go to the Hen House and roost!

I am with you MC - hate to lose those scotties!  Gus is finding out right now why someone would name him Barney.  He wasn't purple!

Usually the lake effect bands stay well south of us.  Not today.  Eight inches since 10AM, and it's still coming down.

Just cleared the driveway, but I could have started over right away.  Fortunately this is nice, light, fluffy stuff, so I'll just wait until the next eight inches are in place...

Good Saturday morning all.  BOC, glad to hear you're feeling a tad better this morning!  Thanks for fixing breakfast, too!

Woke up to light snow showers, temp of 22, 23 degrees earlier; under a winter weather advisory until 7 a.m. tomorrow.  Right now, snow showers have ceased, but will pick up again later, with maybe a few flurries, or light to moderate bouts of snow showers.

Have some pizzas ready in the freezer for tonight, just in case I don't get back in later.  Everyone have a good day, stay as warm as you can, take care, keep safe and see you all later.

Getting bits of lake effect here at the house this morning - I'm hearing the township snowplows reporting from 2" to 5" of snow in various parts of town.

Up to 20F as I type - better than the 9F or less we had overnight.

Last night I was along for the first practices with a neighboring FD's new pumper.  We created a new skating rink, and maybe a little snow, as we flowed a few thousand gallons of water into an empty field through a couple of deluge guns.

Time to check the mail and decide if I want to shovel now, or wait a while.

This has been a cold morning.  6.6 degrees earlier...and now 10.9 degrees.  Partly sunny, but we have just enough wind to tell us, it's really cold...!

Very light covering of snow on the ground...About an inch. yesterday.

Feb., well at least we've exited the coldest month of the year....and our temps now {avg. figures}, will head up.  Noted yesterday, we gained one degree, so we're off and heading to ???, hopefully Spring way out there in the distance....

Just a fine mist of snow in the air - enough that over time it begins to show on the ground.  Cold, though.  Hope that arctic blast over the upper midwest heads north before it gets here...

The lake effect is well south, so it's time for a trip to town.

Good Friday morning.  We are starting out with an actual temp of no more than 11 degrees, but wind chills are -15 to -10F.  Almost all schools in this part of the state are closed.  What few are open, are on 2 hour delay.  This is due, not because of snowfall amounts (1 to 2 in.), but because of the icy road conditions (particularly side streets).

Here where I'm at, in northern Shepherdsville, Bullitt Co., there's enough snow to cover the ground, along with the ice.  The good thing, though, is its a dry snow.

Coffee, hot chocolate, hot cider, etc., are all fresh and ready to go.  And breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Everyone take care, keep warm and safe, and take care if you have to venture outdoors.

Mookie

Q - I think I missed you altogether, but did hit the Great Lakes.  Lots of rain for everyone beyond and below you!  I would have taken lots of rain.

Our snow is very light again.  Not much moisture.  So goes the continued drought of 2013.

Wilted Flower

Jen....That line of weather seemed to be including us here in central Indiana, but either I slept sound and or we didn't get much nasty stuff....or both...I was pleasantly surprised we had no damage in the immediate area.  But we're back to "cold" now today....and we've had snow showers off and on all morning.  I can see on the radar, it's an elongated stream of it, that is catching us.  So maybe I'll just stay right here and not head out to eat.  22 was our low this morning.  '

Winter can do it's thing out there without me watching it or trying to safely...drive in it.

Good Thursday morning all.  We are getting some snow.  Little bit heavier than the occasional flurries, but not really a snow shower.  Temp this morning at 6 a.m. was 30 degrees, now down to 28F, and our high this afternoon should be 32, 33F.

Had to keep 3 yr. old Allie home from school today; she came back from her mommy's with a bad cough, and now this morning, she also has another problem to go along with it (running back & forth to bathroom).

Got a big pot on the stove with vegetable beef soup cooking for this afternoon and tonight.  Will make cornbread in a couple of hours to go with it.

Everyone have a good day, take care and see you all later.

The winds are whipping, and will be all day.  The temperatures are dropping - +40F now, down from +60F yesterday at this time.  There's snow in the forecast for later in the day, although I may escape it here at the house.

Our sister FD in the fire district borrowed our new brush truck for a trip to inspect their new engine.  I really hated to let it go, but...

I'm up too early.  Time for a nap.

For all of you who are anxiously waiting for the below freezing highs, welcome to the clubWelcome! Our highs ae currently expected to be at least freezing for the next few days, but I will not miss the days (about two weeks) when they did not.

I am still packing books, but am close to the end on that part. There are many other things, but they will not require as much time (or boxes) as the books have.

Katie has advised me to get snow tires, since there is much more snow up at our house than there is out here, so I will go to Firestone early this afternoon (none for my car in stock this morning). I ran my snow thrower yesterday, and I took about two inches out of my driveway and off the sidewalk this morning. It had been several years since I had to use the snowthrower more than once or twice.
