Good Morning

Kind of wet out here...got a little over 3" of rain yesterday and more forecast for today....I need a good set of wellies ...anyone got a pair? ConfusedThe back yard is afloat here ...I think I'll put in a dock on my deck now...Mischief

Welb....done the doctor appointment thing...found out there is a small problem with the White Blood Cell Count...it is down....Huh?...so...it is off to do some more strange tests and whatever...Confused...I do hope it is not something else again...Grumpy

I told my supervisor yesterday of the news and she said just get it looked after...everything will be covered...Bow

Anyway...enough of this...

I'm sorry to hear about your white blood cell count. I had the same trouble while taking chemotherapy, but it was taken care of (I forget just how). May your medical attendants give you the proper treatment.

Just don't get shingles--I did, and had to stop the chemotherapy until the blisters dried up.

CW - beware!  They guessed 1-3 for us.  Landlord now snowblowing 6.  Really bright outside, too!

Q - I think I missed you altogether, but did hit the Great Lakes.  Lots of rain for everyone beyond and below you!  I would have taken lots of rain.

Our snow is very light again.  Not much moisture.  So goes the continued drought of 2013.

Good Wednesday morning all.  I woke up at 4:20 to pouring rain, and my phone ringing to tell me we were under a tornado warning.  (My phone is still listed as being in Jefferson County, not Bullitt County, but we're not that far away from Jeff. Co.)  By 7 a.m., they were reporting about 3 inches of rain.  Rain seems, at 9:34, to be out of here, but temps are falling.  It seems a tad bit on the chilly side here in my brother's house.  He's sleeping, sil has gone to work, the 2 girls are still at their mommy's, will be back here sometime this afternoon.

BOC, hope everything turns out o.k. for you.

The last I heard, the weather guessers are calling for snow Friday night, Saturday morning.  Will see what comes of it.

Everyone take care, have a good day, and see you all later.

BOC - that mysterious stuff can get frustrating.  My mother has had a few instances of "what the heck?"

The line of whatever we're gonna get is approaching Buffalo as I type.  Another few hours and it'll be here.  They are suggesting thunderstorms, and given the warm temps today, that's a real possibility.  We're already under a wind and flood advisory.

Time to take the trash out and check the mail.

Jen....That may not matter....{your aim, that is..}, as the storm line is very long, and it will have to split to spare us.  It's not due until very early morning, so it might lose some power.....

Gale warnings on the lake tonight (Ontario), so we should see some breezes as well.  A quick run to the mid-50's tomorrow, then back to seasonal for the rest of the week.

There's some lake effect in the forecast, too.  Should be interesting.

Picked up an HO kit for a 42-47 Ford LaFrance fire truck at the big train show.  I'm going to "bash" it into a replica of the pumper they had (and still have) in my old home town.   It'll be an neat project.

Not much else to report.

Bruce - I live about a mile from the main line - I was there Sunday and today and can't find a train anywhere.  You watch tv and find one!  Super Angry

But I have heard quite a few from the back yard - (you know - taking out the garbage, sweeping up peanut shells, making room for my new locomotives that I am sure are coming) and those engines are really noisy.  No horns but lots of grunting and groaning.

Bitterly cold north wind - still above freezing, but 1-2 inches of snow tonite.  Arrival time - 7 pm.  We can't seem to get a good prediction on any rain - it misses us every time, but snow - always accurate.  Set your watch by it.

Q - when we are done with it, I will send it your way.  However, my aim is lousy, so it may end up either in one of the Great Lakes or Alabama.....

Hello everyone,

I thought I would drop by, as I haven't been here for awhile.

It is a nasty day here. The temp. is -6°F with a windchill of -17°F. Just to add to the fun, there is a blowing snow advisory dropping visibility to 1 km. or about 0.62 mi.

I was watching the Alberta Women's Curling Championship game on Sunday from Lethbridge, AB. During a commercial break when the TV networks uses a quick mood shot to set the location, there was a clip of a Powder River Basin coal train passing through on its' way to the docks at Prince Rupert, BC. You could tell by the BN and other unidentified coal cars in the consist.

So shovel the coal, let this rattler roll.

Well, there, two days of being overwhelmed is over.  Good thing I drove back last night - things are a tad nasty out today, with the possibility of some freezing rain in the forecast.

The show had a paid gate of over 20,000 for the two days.  Even spread out over four buildings, that's a lot of people.  And with four buildings, anything more than a cusory once over will take at least a full day.  Some folks do it in two.  I don't know what the vendor count was, but there were a lot of them.  Everything model railroading, and an awful lot of prototype stuff, too.  No full cars, though...

Got my digital edition of Trains on my tablet yesterday - they gave our railroads tiff with the trail/environmental types a full page!  Perhaps the pubilicity will help turn things our way a bit.  I'm not going to say that the trail advocates are lying, but some of the stories they tell aren't wholly applicable to the situation here, and/or don't include the whole story.  And there are those who think that they really don't want a trail at all - they just want the railroad (and snowmobiles) out of "their" wilderness.

We managed to get around 200 signatures on our petitions to "save the rails."  Given that we didn't accost passersby - settling for asking visitors to our booth for a signature - I think we did pretty well.  It's a ways from the thousands we'd like to see, but it's a start.  We've got an on-line versions going, too.

Time to clean out the truck.  I just parked it last night when I got home.  Have to find all my purchases...

But it seems like it might be the same one..St Bernard Parish he did mention...

It could be.  The man I met was my wife's cousin's neighbor.  How many people can there be in St. Bernard Parish, LA who own their own railroad?

I've been working on my own private varnish, a small Sunday afternoon project.  I varnished my flag pole. Not a big sitting in the ground flag pole but a wooden one about 7 feet long that fits into a bracket by my front door.  I fly my flag on holidays and many weekends.

Good Sunday morning all.  Quentin, sorry about not getting in before now:  without the girls here last night, decided to sleep in this morning.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And doughnuts, danish, bagels and bear claws on the counter.  On the warmer bar this morning:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and toast.

Have the Crock Pot going with Chicken Abracadbra, with taters, carrots, onion and peas for our Sunday Dinner.

Everyone have a safe morning, whether going to Church, work, railfanning or just staying home.  See you all later this aftrnoon.

......No one here yet and it's mid morning...That's a bit different.  So, it's overcast here and rather bright.  Today we're to see if the sleet, freezing rain, or whatever, will stay to our west, and up and over us for the most part.  We might see a bit of it in today's PM.

Hopefully, if so...I'll be finsihed with my church...and restaurant stop for my Sunday meal.  Then it will be back home with the Sunday paper, and let the weather go by.

We are to get warmer temps starting this evening taking us above freezing.  20 degrees here when I first looked this morning.  Grass sticking up thru the snow, so it won't take very long to get rid of it in a day or so....Coffee

Wishing all a good day, and new week.

It is warmer than it had been for several days; I did not feel the need of turning the electric heater in the kitchen on while I ate breakfast.

I hope you enjoyed your breakfast.  Breakfast is my favorite meal.  I enjoy my coffee and reading my newspaper.

When I got up this morning (a bit late, about 7:30) and looked out the window I first thought that it was snowing--and then realized that the miasma, smog, or whatever you want to call it, was much thicker than usual. Truly, a good day to stay inside. Though, I trust Katie will get back from San Diego safely. She had to go down Wednesday to attend a meeting. The meeting was at the Del Coronado, (Ricki and I spent a night there five years ago, adding it to our list of famous hotels) but she was staying at a beach house.

I really need to proofread; my keyboard adds unwanted letters and does not enter wanted letters.

Good Saturday morning all.  Temps are in the low 20s this morning, going for highs in the low to mid 30s for this afternoon.  At least today, we have sunshine starting to peek out!

Larry, sorry about my typo yesterday, regarding your traveling location:  didn't catch it when I proofread my post.  Joe, thanks for catching it, and thanks for taking care of breakfast this morning.

Everyone take care, have a good morning, and hopefully, I'll be able to make it back in later this afternoon, to get the pizza fest under way.

I knew someone who owned a private car and had it sitting in their backyard.

I once knew a guy who came upon a narrow gauge logging railroad that was no longer used.  He brought the tracks and an engine and set them up in his (large) back yard.  He built himself a very comfortable caboose and was working on a passenger coach.
