I told you!!!!  Didn't I tell you!!!!  Grumpy

It could have rained or even snowed all summer.  It could have rained, misted or gully-washed - all fall.

Nothing!  Nada!  Nope!  Zip!

Now we are going to have snow tomorrow and 34 degrees!!!  Maybe up to 5 inches!!!  And my bet is it will be the dry kind - that doesn't do anything but make a mess!  No water for the flora/fauna, but either wade thru it or slip on an icy spot that somehow formed!

I'm blaming der Chicken for this.  Storm

Just realized the date, and that I haven't mailed gifts for the granddaughters yet...

Keep the responders in to the Sandy Hook incident in your thoughts as well.  Several had loved ones in the school (none who were affected, however), and many likely had young children themselves.

Headed out to the grandson's preschool Christmas program tomorrow night.  Should be interesting!

Quentin;  you have a good outlook on things  present.  With the family around you things will brighten. ~~~ The best wishes to you in the coming year.

I totally agree with you, Cannonball. I still can't find the words that will describe what I'm feeling.

For our supper tonight, I've made some beef stew w/baked cornbread. Or, you can have burgers, fries and garden salad.

Just woke up from a nap:  got Allie down for her nap, Paul left for work, and I laid down for a short nap:  hadn't been down 5 , 10 minutes and heard the thunder, then pouring rain and hail.

Everyone take care, have a good evening, and talk with you all later.

Ditto with you on the  childrens prayers.I can not  say in words my feelings . This is the hardest Christmas  for me since 1944 when three of my kinfolk were lost in the war. However,  the spirit of the season will prevail  despite the sadness.  This brings our family so much closer.

Good Monday morning all  Have the house all to myself right now:  brother had an early morning dr. appointment at the Va, sis-in-law at work, and both girls at school.  Friday will be their last day of school until January.  Guess I'll be really busy; but brother starts vacation, so I won't be alone with the girls.  Such a fun time, right?

I keep saying prayers for the people in Sandy Hook.  That young boy probably had so many mental problems, that none us could possibly imagine.  Yes, my prayers include him, and his surviving family, as well as those of the children and adults whose lives he took.  Everything I'm feeling right now, just cannot be put into words.

We are getting rain here in Shepherdsville.  Supposed to have some serious storms this afternoon, probably between 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. tonight.  Little Allie does not like the thunder and lightning.  She will visibly jump at each boom of thunder, and bolt of lightning.  Then by Thursday, we'll have a cold front come in, temps will start dropping and we'll possibly see some snow.

Everyone have a good day, take care and see you all later.

Q - I thought of you when I heard on the radio that the sun was setting one minute later.  Since it has been cloudy here for 2 days, it is hard to tell.  Cool

We, here in the diner, will be doing some virtual hand holding for people who won't have their loved ones over the holidays.  We aren't a very big group, but seem to have more than a few.

I have been listening to a Peanuts Christmas CD (Vince Guaraldi) and it is hard not to be happy when you listen to something like this.

And we have 50 degrees here in central Indiana at this time this morning.  That's above normal for our area and this time of the year, but that's pretty much the way December has been so far.

I welcome every bit of this kind of weather....Sometimes it can be rather nasty in December although, this certainly not our coldest month...That of course is January.

But yesterday, I noted the sun set one minute later here and that means turn-around and we'll head for Spring / Summer, albeit, some distance away.

Our morning is over cast but some bright spots showing thru, possible some rain today, but none now.

Final week for folks to do the "get ready" for Christmas.  No Christmas tree or any decorations here as I reasoned, I believe I can get thru this one by just trying to do my daily routine, etc....

Of course, we'll do the Christmas dinner...with daughter, and family...at a local family restaurant doing so from 11 to 3 pm...Same as Thanksgiving.

Christmas Eve Service at the church will be the most difficult for me this time around, but we're certainly going to be there....

Wishing a good week to all on here.   Gift

Peace be with you. 56 and pea soup fog in Carolina, expected to make it to 71 and rain later.

I woke up around 0400 and watched Laurel and Hardy on You tube, along with Sink the Bismarck. It was bone chilling to see the Hood blow up..... Later, I fired up the wireless and exchanged greetings with a guy who is geographically on the opposite side of the planet!

Everyone have a safe day.

As many here know, the Adirondack Scenic Railroad offers "The Polar Express TM" each year to sellout crowds.  I work a number of those trips.  One of functions as a crewmember is to monitor the progress of "the big guy" as he visits with the kids.

It's fun seeing the kids reaction (although there are the usual "scared of the guy in the big red suit and beard" types).

One young lady in particular I found fascinating a couple of nights ago.  I didn't spend a long time watching her, since I had other things to do, but the few moments I did see her were golden.

After she received her bell, the look on her face was priceless.  I can only describe it as "awe" that she had actually gotten a silver bell from Santa.

And that's why we do these trips.

Good Saturday morning all.  Joe, thanks for breakfast.  Everything looks goooooood this morning.  Been reading another thread on here, from the single mom, who applied with a railroad for a conductor's job.  Sorry she didn't get that one, but maybe she'll get another job w/the railroad.  Sarah  still enjoys it, and works like crazy.  Always busy, busy, busy.

Found a station that is playing Christmas music, and am listening as I type.  Everyone here is still asleep, except for me.  Hope you all have a good day, take care and see you all later this evening, for our pizza fest.

Been way too busy with the girls the past couple of days to even try to get in here.  The 3 yr. old would NOT go down for a nap yesterday, and sis-in-law and I fought with her all afternoon and evening.  She ended up, none to happily, going to bed early last night.  Love them both dearly, but they can be total pains in the backside.

I have manged to get our Friday Fish Fry ready for this afternoon and tonight:  Bass, cod, cat fish, flounder, trout, halibut, haddock, perch, whitefish, Tilapia, jumbo butterfly shrimp, popcorn shrimp; baked beans, corn on the cob, cole slaw, hush puppies, breaded fried mushrooms, mac & cheese, fries, mixed greens; chocolate cake w/white icing, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, yellow cake w/caramel icing, apple and peach cobblers, pecan pie, and, as a special treat:  bourbon balls.

Everyone have a good afternoon and evening, take care and see you all when I can.
