Nice and sunny, and... not as cold as I'd expect given clear skies overnight.  A balmy 23 as I type.

Hopefully it's a decent day tomorrow, as several of us will be headed to Webster to pay our respects.

Good Friday morning all.  Cold still here in Shepherdsville, with temps in the 30 - 32 range.  At least there's no wind, or any moisture coming down from the clouds.  That is supposed to start around 5 p.m. EST this afternoon.  Anywhere from 1 to 3 inches for this area, less for south of us.

Joe, thanks for the breakfast, and the coffee!!  Everyone have a good day, take care, stay warm & toasty if you can, and see you all later.

Good Morning

Dull dull dull is our word or today...oh...and little tiny snowflurries as well this afternoon...yay.

Ok..we had another one of those BrokenPipeVille incidents here yesterday...not much fun to be had when most of it turning into slushy goop...this lot occurred down the road from our crescent...which, of course, meant that we had no water for  few hours...again...sigh...Bang Head

Hmmm...Interesting.

The "Point of Order" thread has apparently been "nuked."

What did you expect? Both of those threads - you could hear the keys rattling from way off. Will they ever learn?...................

Problem was...the thread was in good taste.

Makes no sense at all that it should have been nuked.

I'll second the notion from my esteemed colleague from South Dakota!  And I do wish to further unto review an amendment to the Trains.com forum rules and statutes that require the wearing of pants, trousers or pantaloons for all posting purposes.

Millie tiptoed out to two dr appts.  Schedule them in bundles - do them all @ once!

30 flakes this morning - more to come tonite, I guess.  Streets had some surprises, but overall clear  Home now until we run out of milk.

Anyone following the "congressional hearing" on one of the threads next door?  Sounds just like hearings in Congress!  They can't seem to agree on what day or what gender or what up means..

But - it makes for some entertaining reading on a cold winter day.  Until I find a hole in my puter monitor and a shoe lying on the desktop!

Its cold and 38 here in Shreveport.  There is a fair amount of snow to the west and north of us.  Arkansas really got smacked good.

If you are out and about in this weather, please be careful!

....Could have been worse for us....Our snow started in earnest about 8 am....Wed., and continued for about 6 hr......including blizzard conditions due to the wind with it.

I had no plans to even think of going anywhere...

Neighbor came with one son, and with a rather new snow blower and did our 70' drive way and side walk to the front door and service door to the garage....and I waded out in my slippers to hand him {them}, a 20, and they didn't want to take it, but I insisted, and finally told the son, consider it a Christmas present, so I finally got it given....Streets are plowed....So today, and now the sun is shining we will venture out.  We ended up with 6" total.

Temps. have remained roughly around just below freezing thru this whole mess, so nothing really critical in temps.  But we had  the wind too, until the "wrap around" which is where we got the snow from....had moved on far enough east, and northeast....and then the wind subsided.  So, I consider lucky to have had it no worse than we did....Could have had ice, with wind....and possible power outage, and we have a total electric home...but we had no problems with power.  Thankful.

Good Thursday morning all.  Breakfast is ready and on the warmer station.  Our current temp is somewhere in the 20s, high today is to only around 33?  So going to be a really cold day around here.  Supposed to have another low front working its way in sometime tomorrow, and we should have some accumulation from it Saturday morning.

Off to check emails, and work my way through them.  Everyone take care, have a safe morning, take care and will try to get back in later (girls got up,and said they were going to go back to sleep),so don't know if I'll make it back in or not.  But will try.

Fourteen (yep, a 1 and a 4) inches of the white stuff this morning, and that's settled.  I wasn't up all night measuring it fall.

Not to mention some higher drifts.

Cleared out my driveway, cleared a path around a neighbor's truck (he'd tried to put it where it is to get it out of the way of other snow removal efforts and got it stuck), and cleared what the snowplow left in another neighbor's driveway.

Now I've got the paper, my tea is ready, so it's time to warm up and relax for a while.

The snow's not over yet...

I drove back to Shreveport from San Antonio today.  There was suprisingly quite a bit of snow in the Tyler Texas area....a good 2-3 inches....enough to completely cover the ground.

Must have been blowing good here as well, as a majority of the road signs were obscurred by snow.

50,000 (or so it seemed) accidents around here today.  Only got an inch or two, then sleet, then rain, and then wind.

Best one I heard today was a call from some snowplow drivers on the turnpike that were doing the "plow train" thing.  Apparently there was an impatient 18-wheeler behind them laying on his airhorn.  The plow drivers were asking their DS if there was a state cop around that could have a "chat" with the moron.

It's been fun.  But it isn't much fun anymore.   Signing off for now.

It's about to start here - the returns on the radar are creeping ever closer.  We'll get most of it overnight, I think, so there won't be quite as many ditchfinders in use.

Boxing Day wasn't bad today when I went to town for a couple of items, including a Bluetooth keyboard for my tablet.  I don't plan on doing a lot of stuff requiring a keyboard with it, but it'll be handier than carrying my laptop around when I'm travelling.

Gotta run down to the convenience store for some milk.  Second thought - I'll walk...
