...My celebration for New Year's Eve {day}, completed this morning....Hair cut....stop at ATM....Stop at Meijer's for some items.....put gas in truck, and back home and I intend to stay here the remaining part of 2012.

I knew another snow band has zeroed in on Indiana, especially, Muncie....and it did start about 1 o'clock here, and is still doing so...Forecast is 1 to 3 on snow.

We are above freezing, but probably not for long....Streets are still just wet...Driveway is still clear, even much of my sidewalk into the house.  Cold for next few days, and then extended, I understand the jet stream may move north, and give us some relief.  We're edging in on the equal of the total snow for all of last season.

Cold and rainy down here in Alamo City,  I have one more foray to make to the grocery store, and then I am in for the evening.

Hope everyone here is doing well. Cowboy

WOW. I woke up feeling like I have been hit by the Amtrak. If I had been to a party last night I'd have sworn I'd been a brawl....

Good Monday morning all, and, I guess, for the most part, this has been a very good year.  Yeah, we (our country, in particular), as seen a lot of ups & downs; maybe we can all hope that, as Colonel Potter used to say on M*A*S*H, "may it be a *** site better one!"

Also sending Happy Birthday wishes to Houston Ed!!  May you have a Very happy day today and always, Ed!!  Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day

Joe, thanks for coming in early and getting the coffee and other drinks and breakfast ready.

According to our local weather guessers, Louisville and Bullitt County may only see a dusting when this next front comes in around/after midnight tonight.  Bullitt County may see a mix of rain or freezing rain/snow, but may only be rain.  I'd rather see just the rain, myself.

Everyone have a good day, and I'll try to get in sometime this afternoon, to close up here and open the new place.

Murphy - That was so bad!  Plus I bet you don't know you can't tuna piano....

Johnny - moving is right at the top of things I really, truly hate doing.  It is like a whole lot of house cleaning and we all know I am incredibly allergic to house cleaning.  Makes me break out in green spots.  (Well, the Driver is buying it....I think) Alien

I don't know just what halibut eat, but they might eat pizza.

The idea of fish head soup does NOT appeal to me. I have been known to make salmon pie (using canned salmon, onion, gelatin, mayonnaise, capers, and one or two other things) and serving it to company.

Ricki liked fish much better than I, so I did prepare it for both of us to eat on Fridays. She really liked sole, so that was what we had unless there was none available. She liked lamb even better, and when we were first in Victoria, she ordered Australian or New Zealand roast lamb while I ordered a meat that was more likely a local specialty--baked salmon (I really enjoyed it).

This past Friday, Katie and I agreed with a mortgage company to spend the next thirty years paying for a house that we will share. She expects to move in about three weeks, and I will probably move the following week.

It's supper time somewhere in the world, so I put mah tuna pizza in the oven.  Chef

Tuna pizza -- really?

  As opposed to fish tacos?

It's just a personal preference, but...Dead    Are you making tuna pizza just for the halibut?

Maybe my dislike for fish goes back to when I was very young and went to a family friend's house for a their traditional fish head soup.  I don't even want to know what part of the fish's head the cruchy, round things were.

I am so excited!  I had quite a thrill this afternoon!  Thumbs Up

Got to go trackside and saw maybe 6-7 trains, but 2 of them - both freight and headed into the yards - one had 8 engines on the head end and the other had 5.  (no DPUs)  Since that is my favorite part of a train - I was thrilled.  And especially since they were the BNSF lower numbers, which means most of them were an older vintage.

Some looked like a new paint job, so are probably going into the yard to be redistributed throughout the system.  Or maybe they just like to parade them outside the yard for thrill-seekers to see occasionally!

Ah - life is good!

Good Sunday morning all.  Joe, thanks for taking care of breakfast and putting the roast on for Sunday Dinner.

Larry, sounds like a very good turnout for the visitation yesterday.  My condolences to their families, and also to their fire dept. family as well.

Joe, the weather guessers are predicting 1 to 3 inches for us (here in Shepherdsville, we could end up getting it as a winter mix).  I definitely don't like the sound of that, but there's not a thing I can do about it, so guess we'll just have to wait and see what we do get.

The sun is shining now, but temps are in the low 20s, and we'll be lucky to see a high of about 30 degrees this afternoon.

Everyone have a good day, take care and see you all later on.

It was a long day, including driving three hours each way in some pretty lousy conditions and a three hour wait in line, but it was for a noble cause - pay our respects to the two West Webster, NY firefighters who died at the hands of a gunman on Christmas Eve.

Estimates of those attending the afternoon calling hours alone run to 5000, that on top of an overflow crowd on Friday evening, and an upcoming (at least while we were there) evening session..

Despite the grim reason for the gathering, it was a fantastic show of the brotherhood that is firefighting.

The two other firefighters injured in the attack arrived via ambulance while we were waiting so as to pay their respects as well.

Our contingent travelled to an area fire station and rode their busses to the location of the calling hours.  While we were gone, in-station personnel took the time to wash the fire trucks we had travelled there in.

Good Saturday morning all.  Here in Shepherdsville, we have maybe somewhere between 1/2 to 1 in. of snow (that's what it looks like from my bedroom window).  The girls are up, have looked out my bedroom window, and looking forward to going outside after breakfast.

Just in case I don't make it back in later this afternoon, I have plenty of pizzas (all labeled as to what kind), in the freezer; they just need to be put into the oven.  Everyone take care, have a good morning, and see you all later.

BOC - doctor appt yesterday (stay with me) - our doctor is a tiny, elf-like lady - always so sweet and cheerful.  She had been off for a few days, which had necessitated our rescheduling the appointment.  Found out that her 90 pound "puppy" (as she put it) pulled out some kind of plumbing in their yard (maybe sprinkler system) and it flooded their basement.

Driver laughed and said 90 pound puppy?  I can't imagine her walking her "puppy" on a leash.

....Just overcast.  Temp about 28...Seems it's moved just one or two degrees in the past several days.  Dry this morning.  Street in front of the house, bare....and so is my driveway.  Sunshine took care of both yesterday, even though it was a few degrees below freezing.
