Cw - I think you had "back street drizzle".  Sometimes a Benedryl - type will solve that problem.  Or in your case, a good threat.

9 below last nite.  My nose was cold in bed!  Driver reached over and put his hand on it to warm it up.  I ended up covering it with the flannel sheet - his hand kept relaxing and well, I can't breathe thru my ears yet.  Nice gesture, tho.

OK - I am done with winter.  Time to move on to spring.

CW - just goes to show that if you use that miracle cold cure, your symptoms will only last seven days.  If you do nothing, they'll last a whole week...

Just getting over a similar episode myself.  A few cough drops notwithstanding, I just toughed it out.

Made it through the weekend on the Polar Express - lots of happy kids (and parents).

The drive home was a tad trying, with a winter weather advisory suggesting we might see freezing rain.  Didn't run into anything but rain until I was 20 miles from home.  Rained off and on all day today, too.

Today was recovery day, although instead of my alarm clock this morning, it was my pager, for a medical assist call.

Have to take our new fire truck in for an anti-corrosion treatment tomorrow morning, then go back and pick it up in the afternoon.

cannonball

the train was probably waiting for others to clear.Being auto racks they would probably go west to Butler then take the wabash to Ft. Wayne and go further west.Taggers don't hang here in rual NW Ohio. The siding is surrounded by warehouses and farm fields.Security keeps an eye around the property.Time to go get Matt from school. He is counting down to Christmas break.

And, with a muffled thump, about a half inch of snow arrived overnight.

Shovelled off my asphalt driveway while the sun was out - it's dry now.

I should probably work on getting some Christmas cards out.

Bit of a scare last night - dispatched for a fire alarm activation in a church in a neighboring town.  Church fires are never a good thing.

On to other chores.

Went back to eye doctor for 6 mo. checkup this afternoon.  Cataract in right eye is growing some.  Will check again in 6 mos.      Other than that, nothing much going on, except kids being kids.  ugh.

Good Morning

It is kind of dark out...but it is going to be a sunny day anyhoooo....high of 44F expected...

We had some excitement last night...seems that a hit and run driver clipped next door neighbour's hedge and went into their backyard...but before anyone could get to the car..s/he backed up and took off down the street. The car had  few branches and things attached to it though....

Been way too busy with the girls the past couple of days to even try to get in here.  The 3 yr. old would NOT go down for a nap yesterday, and sis-in-law and I fought with her all afternoon and evening.  She ended up, none to happily, going to bed early last night.  Love them both dearly, but they can be total pains in the backside.

I have manged to get our Friday Fish Fry ready for this afternoon and tonight:  Bass, cod, cat fish, flounder, trout, halibut, haddock, perch, whitefish, Tilapia, jumbo butterfly shrimp, popcorn shrimp; baked beans, corn on the cob, cole slaw, hush puppies, breaded fried mushrooms, mac & cheese, fries, mixed greens; chocolate cake w/white icing, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, yellow cake w/caramel icing, apple and peach cobblers, pecan pie, and, as a special treat:  bourbon balls.

Everyone have a good afternoon and evening, take care and see you all when I can.

Nephew in Cincy calls BossHen's bourbon balls: "BURPIN' BALLS" .... a family Christmas tradition was born right there on the spot.

Murray - can you say what you will be certified in?

Snow may remain on mountains.  That's where it looks best....rather than our driveway.

Good Saturday morning all.  Joe, thanks for breakfast.  Everything looks goooooood this morning.  Been reading another thread on here, from the single mom, who applied with a railroad for a conductor's job.  Sorry she didn't get that one, but maybe she'll get another job w/the railroad.  Sarah  still enjoys it, and works like crazy.  Always busy, busy, busy.

Found a station that is playing Christmas music, and am listening as I type.  Everyone here is still asleep, except for me.  Hope you all have a good day, take care and see you all later this evening, for our pizza fest.

As many here know, the Adirondack Scenic Railroad offers "The Polar Express TM" each year to sellout crowds.  I work a number of those trips.  One of functions as a crewmember is to monitor the progress of "the big guy" as he visits with the kids.

It's fun seeing the kids reaction (although there are the usual "scared of the guy in the big red suit and beard" types).

One young lady in particular I found fascinating a couple of nights ago.  I didn't spend a long time watching her, since I had other things to do, but the few moments I did see her were golden.

After she received her bell, the look on her face was priceless.  I can only describe it as "awe" that she had actually gotten a silver bell from Santa.

And that's why we do these trips.
