Good Morning
Getting showers and dull today..getting up to 55F later on..of course, in the rain....
Not doing much of anything today..too wet to do any yard work or cleaning out garage work...so into the basement empire I will go and fiddle round with a couple of fiddle yards I think will do fine in here...
Have a good day...

Peace be with you. 56 and pea soup fog in Carolina, expected to make it to 71 and rain later.
I woke up around 0400 and watched Laurel and Hardy on You tube, along with Sink the Bismarck. It was bone chilling to see the Hood blow up..... Later, I fired up the wireless and exchanged greetings with a guy who is geographically on the opposite side of the planet!
Everyone have a safe day.

And we have 50 degrees here in central Indiana at this time this morning. That's above normal for our area and this time of the year, but that's pretty much the way December has been so far.
I welcome every bit of this kind of weather....Sometimes it can be rather nasty in December although, this certainly not our coldest month...That of course is January.
But yesterday, I noted the sun set one minute later here and that means turn-around and we'll head for Spring / Summer, albeit, some distance away.
Our morning is over cast but some bright spots showing thru, possible some rain today, but none now.
Final week for folks to do the "get ready" for Christmas. No Christmas tree or any decorations here as I reasoned, I believe I can get thru this one by just trying to do my daily routine, etc....
Of course, we'll do the Christmas dinner...with daughter, and family...at a local family restaurant doing so from 11 to 3 pm...Same as Thanksgiving.
Christmas Eve Service at the church will be the most difficult for me this time around, but we're certainly going to be there....
Wishing a good week to all on here.
Quentin
Q - I thought of you when I heard on the radio that the sun was setting one minute later. Since it has been cloudy here for 2 days, it is hard to tell.
We, here in the diner, will be doing some virtual hand holding for people who won't have their loved ones over the holidays. We aren't a very big group, but seem to have more than a few.
I have been listening to a Peanuts Christmas CD (Vince Guaraldi) and it is hard not to be happy when you listen to something like this.

....Thank You Jen.....I appreciate your comments.
One day at a time here....and serious thinking....and we intend to get thru.
Good Afternoon
Welb...my afternoon foray into my basement empire was rather shortlived..an unusually long honey do list thing came along and said...hi...how are you..you have stuff to do today...maybe I'll get a chance to go to my empire later on....
Mookie: sounds like a great idea..
Anyhoo...better go get this done...

Dull dull dull and dull...that is the watchword for today...oh...we may see a few 'incidents' of sun...for this afternoon...that is with any luck at all...
Having to drive one of the project car to a local paint-it-yourself booths thingee later on..hopefully we are not going to see more rain...20% chance of showers later on as well...we had several 10% chance showers pepper us yesterday...
Good Monday morning all Have the house all to myself right now: brother had an early morning dr. appointment at the Va, sis-in-law at work, and both girls at school. Friday will be their last day of school until January. Guess I'll be really busy; but brother starts vacation, so I won't be alone with the girls. Such a fun time, right?
I keep saying prayers for the people in Sandy Hook. That young boy probably had so many mental problems, that none us could possibly imagine. Yes, my prayers include him, and his surviving family, as well as those of the children and adults whose lives he took. Everything I'm feeling right now, just cannot be put into words.
We are getting rain here in Shepherdsville. Supposed to have some serious storms this afternoon, probably between 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. tonight. Little Allie does not like the thunder and lightning. She will visibly jump at each boom of thunder, and bolt of lightning. Then by Thursday, we'll have a cold front come in, temps will start dropping and we'll possibly see some snow.
Everyone have a good day, take care and see you all later.
Ditto with you on the childrens prayers.I can not say in words my feelings . This is the hardest Christmas for me since 1944 when three of my kinfolk were lost in the war. However, the spirit of the season will prevail despite the sadness. This brings our family so much closer.
Respectfully, Cannonball
Y6bs evergreen in my mind
I totally agree with you, Cannonball. I still can't find the words that will describe what I'm feeling.
For our supper tonight, I've made some beef stew w/baked cornbread. Or, you can have burgers, fries and garden salad.
Just woke up from a nap: got Allie down for her nap, Paul left for work, and I laid down for a short nap: hadn't been down 5 , 10 minutes and heard the thunder, then pouring rain and hail.
Everyone take care, have a good evening, and talk with you all later.
Quentin; you have a good outlook on things present. With the family around you things will brighten. ~~~ The best wishes to you in the coming year.
Just realized the date, and that I haven't mailed gifts for the granddaughters yet...
Keep the responders in to the Sandy Hook incident in your thoughts as well. Several had loved ones in the school (none who were affected, however), and many likely had young children themselves.
Headed out to the grandson's preschool Christmas program tomorrow night. Should be interesting!

I told you!!!! Didn't I tell you!!!!
It could have rained or even snowed all summer. It could have rained, misted or gully-washed - all fall.
Nothing! Nada! Nope! Zip!
Now we are going to have snow tomorrow and 34 degrees!!! Maybe up to 5 inches!!! And my bet is it will be the dry kind - that doesn't do anything but make a mess! No water for the flora/fauna, but either wade thru it or slip on an icy spot that somehow formed!
I'm blaming der Chicken for this.
Good Evening
Got a load of stuff done and what do you know...come home...find out from Audrey that a bunch of phone calls came from the church...now their books need redoing..after the fellow who did them kind of absconded with some funds....grumble grouch mumble snort...just in time for the Xmas hamper programs...growl
I'm really peeved tonight....

Cannonball.....Thank you for your thoughts. Daughter is 70 mi. away, and we'll have Christmas meal together. Then they will head home....We'll ask for strength from our Maker to get us thru......Merry Christmas to you and family.

Good Morning to ye!!
A very dull drab sky welcomes us'uns here...the clouds parted last night...stayed clear most of the night but now...a the skies lighten up...back to dull dull dull we go...high today...44F....
Today is another runnin' 'roun' doin' stuff day for me...better get doing this!!
.....Thank you Joe....Much appreciated.
Our morning here has just a very light overcast....Hi 20's when I first looked this morning. That is some massive snow storm sweaping up across from southwest to north, northeast....Luckily, it appears to be going just north of us...but perhaps we'll see an edge of it. Haven't heard of any accumulation to occur here as of yet, but that system is passing very close on our northwest side...
Jen, it appears you folks in NE will be receiving a bit of it.....
Electronics - Part 2:
Sitting here at the puter this morning. Decided I would do the old "Engineer's Nap" - really getting into it when my purse, located on the floor behind me started some kind of siren. Good thing I didn't have anything more than chair handles in my hands!
It was my new cell phone - turned off mind you - alerting me to the fact that we are to prepare for a blizzard! I didn't know it did anything but lay there and play dumb! I almost ripped my purse apart trying to get to my cell phone!
Now I wonder if it will automatically call my doctor and report a heart attack due to cell phone scare!
And ...
My kids bought me an early Christmas gift...
An IPad....
Mookie An IPad....
If you like, I'll send my three-year-old grandson over to help you learn how to use it...
Actually, he does use his mom's on a regular basis. He's got YouTube figured out for finding his favorite cartoons.
I got myself an early Christmas present - a Nexus 7. It's a tablet, as well, and so far I'm liking it. They were smart enough not to include a camera (well, there is one facing the user, for stuff like Skype), so you won't see me out taking pictures with it. Best part is that it uses the same OS as my "smart" phone, so I can load many of the same apps on it.
Speaking of my smart phone - I took it in to have the battery checked, as I feel it's on it's last legs. They checked it out, but didn't seem to think it needed attention. We'll see.
Finished my Christmas Shopping - items which will be delivered in person next week. Don't know what Mom's getting - my sisters usually arrange that and I just chip in.
Got some chores to do.
Ms. Mookie, Shirley has a cell phone that lights up the screen for no reason. The phone is also turned off at night. However when in the dark the thing lights up the room. This can wake one up with a start , that little 1 by 1/2 by 2in. screen is as bright as a search light.
Merry Christmas to you & yours.
Cannonball

Hi...
another dull drab rainy kind of day for us'uns...
On to more stuff to do today..these last minute thing that crop up....
Good Thursday morning all. Woke up at 6 a.m. to thunder, and pouring rain. Nothing now, with temps in the low to mid 50s, will be slowly dropping throughout the day. Will be getting rain again, then between 5 and 8 tonight, the rain is supposed to turn to snow. Not supposed to see much accumulation, maybe a dusting for an inch of snow. The kids will be happy, though.
Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go. Breakfast is also ready and on the warmer station, along with a small selection of doughnuts and danish, including bear claws and bagels.
Everyone have a good day, take care with all these weather changes, drive carefully, etc., and see you all later.
Looking like a sunny (if cold) day here. Still waiting to see what Draco brings us.
One sunny day project is a group photo of our fire apparatus in front of the station. And we have a perfect day for it. Better get to work.
