......Appreciate the kind words from friends.

Good news.  This last 2 hrs. or so, Cathy, ex daughter in law to our neighbors across the street, has been here with Jean and I in our home office, and I'm happy to report much headway was made in getting into this situation, and finding good {Christian} legal help....

So a good start today.  In fact, Jean and Cathy are over nearby to a social services location getting some more done right now.

Quentin - In my years in EMS I've encountered a number of folks whose pride overrides reality, with the result that they should be in a facility where they are supervised but remain at home.  It's tough on all involved, and you're commended for taking action.

The Weather Channel is in storm mode - the middle Atlantic area is getting pounded, with numerous watches and warnings sprouting up.  It's making for a rough commute in the DC area, including for the folks on the "Orange" commuter line, which has a tree down on it.  Some 17,000 people out of power in the DC 'burbs.

We're just getting rain, which I won't complain about until I get to the antique fire truck muster tomorrow (if it's still raining).

Well, got bills all taken care of this morning, went to grocery and got some food for a couple, 3 days at least, and was pleasantly surprised this afternoon, when a friend stopped by with her youngest daughter (now 13 years old) to visit with me.  I haven't seen here for almost a year, because she has been going through some health problems (stroke, heart trouble, etc.), but she is doing much, much better now.

Our Friday Fish Fry is now under way, and everything (all types of fish, and all the regular side dishes and dessert menus) are on the warmer bar, ready for consumption.  In other words, it is time to eat Dinner

For the next several days, I will more than likely be in here in the mornings, at least.  If I can make it in any other time, I'll be here, but you'll know I'm awfully busy with Bible School, if you don't see/hear from me, until after next Friday.

In the meantime, everyone take care and I'll see you whenever I can.

So, in the midst of all that is going on in your life, all the problems you and Jean face, you take the time and put forth the effort to help others...

Sometimes things like that put it all into perspective.

+1Thumbs Up

Ed, thanks for putting it so succinctly. I wish I could have said it as well.

Very nice day here, 70° and mostly sunny.

Visited Mom today. I seem awfully tired for not have done much today but I have nothing scheduled for the weekend so I should have time to rest up.

CW, I don't usually make it in for the Friday Fish Fry so I will give it a try.Dinner

Friends....This situation has been ongoing now for a year plus, that it was really getting to the point it would take such an accordance as {just did}, that being the lady passing on.

We tried to talk them into taking action before the situation deteriorated to this point, but as Larry said....Pride or some reason.....in this case, a lot was being priviate, and denial.  And some stubbornness.

They had 3 properties....Not sure, now if one has been lost to non payment of taxes....

It's really a mess.

But....believe we've turned the corner this day on helping ex daugher in law  to connect to proper authority on legal  matters and a few other decisions.

Evening all.  Man oh man, have I had a loooonnngggg day!  But we are ready for Bible School next week.  The gym is all fixed up and we're ready to go.  Now I'm 'qualified' to work with the kiddos next week, and know what to look for in watching the kids and helpers to guard against advances, etc. from the opposite gender or same gender.  We even had a nice lunch:  spaghetti w/meat sauce and salad w/garlic bread.   Came home about 5, and about 5:30, went to take a nap.  That was nice, since I'd been up since 5 this morning.

Here is our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

01.  Anchovie

02.  Canadian bacon

03.  Cheese

04.  Chicago style

05.  Goetta

06.  Ham & green pepper

07.  Hawaiian

08.  Italian sausage

09.  Pepperoni/mushroom

10.  Supreme

Dessert Pizzas:

1.  Apple

2.  Cherry

3.  Peach

We have been on the cool side of the temperature spectrum today.  Down in the 50s this morning, and the last time Walt noticed the thermometer, it was barely 69 degrees outside.  I haven't heard any news this evening (since I was napping), so don't know what the official high today for us was.

Everyone have a good evening,  take care and I'll see you all in the morning.

A very nice day here, but much cooler than several days before.  That's ok with me.  Reached into the lower 70's.

Pretty moon coming in sight high out over the Fairway...Coming around the trees.  Not full, but very nice.

Long day.

Took our antique fire truck into town for a muster.  Several other trucks, but not as many visitors as we would have liked.

We did pump some water with an old "hand tub" fire engine - the kind run on human muscle water.  I should check the news - I might be on it.

After that it was a dinner at a neighboring fire department.

Now it's time for bed - rest up for a day on the railroad Sunday.

Good Sunday morning all.  Beautiful morning, and looks like we're going to have a beautiful day.  Sun is beginning to shine, and no breeze to speak of.  But believe we're to have some showers coming in sometime later, probably later tonight.

Larry, sounds like you had a very hectic day yesterday as well.  Hope you have semi recovered from your long day.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages  are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar:  bacon, eggs, toast, cinnamon rolls, pecan rolls and some doughnuts, along with fresh watermelon, papaya, kiwi and grapefruit (pink and the regular grapefruit).

Have the Crock Pot and Slow Cooker going this morning, with roast, taters and carrots in them, and am fixing some green beans, baked cornbread, broccoli, brussels sprouts, corn and garden salad and cole slaw for our Sunday Dinner.

Everyone have a great morning, take care going to Church, work,  railfanning, or whatever else you have planned for the day.  Hopefully, I'll see you all later this afternoon.

Good Monday morning all.  Going to be another beautiful day here in Louisville, KY.  Hopefully, this evening will be good, as we start with the kiddos for Bible School.  Mornings will probably be the only time I can manage to get in this week.  Lots of things to do, along with going to VBS each night.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And breakfast is on the warmer/cooler bar.

Everyone have a good day, enjoy it to the fullest, whatever you have to do/go, take care, and I'll try to get in when I can.

......Nice morning here.  Moderate temps.  Partly sunny.

Today is Memorial Service for neighbor.  Hope in some way, this situation can finally be completed.  But doubt if can be yet.

Next few days will be deciding factor in how situation can be resolved.  Where the remaining one can be cared for....

Good Tuesday morning all.  Yesterday was a day that seemed to be 5 days long:  One of the ladies I work with on Tuesdays, looked up somewhere between 3:30 and 4:00 yesterday afternoon, and asked, "Is it Friday yet??" (We'd been over there working since 1 p.m ., on some last minute details, and hiding some stuff on the stage.)  I looked at her and replied that nope, it wasn't Friday, we hadn't started VBS yet.  Poor Charlene just bowed and shook her head. And it was raining all afternoon, don't think it stopped until about 630 or so.

Today should be a better day, with some sunshine, and temps topping out in the low to mid 70s this afternoon.  Current temp is about 60 degrees.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Lunch/dinner (supper) is in the Crock Pot and Slow Cooker:  Vegetable beef soup, and Cream of Broccoli soup in the other.

Everyone have a good day, hope all of you are doing well, and see everyone sometime later.

Afternoon Railfans!

Was at the Eye Doc this morning and for a change my prescription has basically not changed so the deterioration is slowing down from a lifetime in front of computers screens.  We broke the record high yesterday but today it should stay in the 80's.  Working on updating my Travel Blog from last weekends trip into DSP&P areas including finding this CB&Q caboose.

Good Morning Railfans!

It's 60F and clear here in the Mile High city heading for the mid 80's so at least the old forecast of 90's all week is not happening but it's still warmer then I care for.

What, I'm not allowed to do that at work; bummer!  Another Ed's OJ in the special Ferromex glass please...

Got the past weekends Trip Reports post on my blog now so feel free to stop by and check them out.  We were in a mixture of DSP&P, C&S, and AC territory chasing old narrow gauge railroad history while it can still be found up in the Colorado Rockies.

Well, Darren, you should have been in Salt Lake City about 11:30 in the morning and about 12:30 in the afternoon. When I went into my doctor's office the temperature was about 80, with a strong wind out of the SW. When I came out, the temperature was 63, with a strong wind out of the NW. Our low this morning was about 40, and the high may reach 70. Tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday will be warmer, but we will have rain and low temperature again before Sunday morning.

Ricki's grandson, John, came out Monday and opened my swamp cooler up (he also trimmed a couple of bushes that were about to touch the house [the insurance company frowns upon any greenery's brushing against the house]). Last night, I put a piece of foam insulation back in on the inside to conserve heat (I had told the furnace to rest Monday morning, and had to tell it to get back to work the same afternoon). Katie (John's mother) also came out, and trimmed some shrubbery for me.She suggested that I make a to-do list for them; it shall be made.

57° and partly cloudy now. The calm after the storm.

We had some fairly wild weather for this part of the world last night. Storm Warnings all over the south half of the province. There was a tornado touchdown at Taber, AB, and another unconfirmed report of a touchdown near Brooks, AB. There was very heavy rain in parts of Calgary, but where I live not as much as other areas. Lots of lightning and thunder.

Taber is on the line that carries Potash from the mines in Saskatchewan down to the docks at Portland, OR and Brooks is on the transcontinental mainline. CP has not reported any ill effects from either incident.

They are not forecasting any similar excitement for tonight.

Mud, I liked the way you could spot which RR owned that steam engine from just that one angle. I have been able to do that for CP steam power most of my life, and since I started subscribing to TRAINS regularly in 2006 I seem to be able to pick out CN, or its' US subsidiaries, power over 80% of the time, before I read the captions. But I can't do it with SOO Line power. CP and SOO's locomotive purchasing decisions were clearly two separate operations. But oddly, I am pretty good at picking out SOO Line buildings in rural areas. Montreal must have sent down building plans to the US. I've noticed too, that the build dates on the SOO structures is usually after CP stopped building those particular types of buildings.

The weirdest thing though was when I picked out a particular type of CP sleeping car from a photo in a copy of "CP Tracks" magazine. I couldn't have seen that car after the age of 2½, and yet for a couple of seconds I swear that B/W photo was in colour.
