The National Weather service has now confirmed 5 small tornadoes have touched down in Colorado during this bout with severe weather. The twisters were near DIA, in Weld County, near Kiowa, near Bennet and near Elizabeth. Stay safe everyone

Good Mornings Railfans!

WOW, what a night, the storm went into overdrive about 1AM with Rail, Hail, and Wind that pounded for over an hour.  Reports of flooding and damage coming in but mostly local issues for those unlucky enough to live at the bottom of hills and/or near drains that got clogged.  Our work parking lot is filled the leaves from the trees.  Large Icebergs of hail near most storm drains and grassy areas look like it's covered in snow.  They say Round #2 might be heading at us again tonight.  My poor neighbor and 5yrds of dirt in front of his house for a weekend project  and I would say about 20% of it washed down the street so he is shoveling it today to bring back up the hill to his house.

Joe - hugged the mailman today.  Watch your e-mail.  Remember I am slow.

Colorado - wow - we can't get rain to come near us.  And you aren't that far away.  But.....keep the hail and damage!  Just usual nice rain like we do get once in a while.

Good Friday morning all.  Only been up about an hour and a half.  Even though I wrote him an email, wishing him a Happy Birthday, will say it again here:  Happy Birthday, Mudchicken!  I hope you had a good day, even with the bad weather you all experienced yesterday.

Tonight is the last night for VBS, and I think all us adults will be G.L.A.D.  The kiddos have all behaved very well, and believe they have enjoyed it.  At least I've seen lots of smiling faces each night:  especially last night, when we switched the routine, and had supper/dinner first:  Pizzas from Papa John's.  Wonder what will be on the menu for our closing night.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Have a great morning, everyone, take care, and I'll try to get back in early this afternoon.

Mookie, you've got that right on the barrel head:  they are fun, but exhausting.  And now that the heat is returning to our area (projected high this afternoon in upper 80s), going to be more exhausting.  I already feel as though I could sleep straight thru for a week; but that ain't a gonna happen.

I've got our Friday Fish Fry ready to go and on the warmer bar.  All the usual items on the menu, along with the regular dessert menu and plenty of ice cream (from vanilla ice cream to the ice cream novelties) are in the freezer.  And to make it convenient for everyone, we have a new upright freezer over by the patio doors, so you can all help yourselves.  Yes, Mookie, there is plenty of chocolate in there, as I know how both you and I love our chocolate, along with some others around here!!DinnerBig Smile  On very warm/hot days, I could make a meal, with just ice cream, maybe a couple of bowls full.

Everyone take care, keep as cool as possible, and I'll see you all in the morning.

Nice part about being a grandparent - you can spoil 'em and send 'em home...

Nice weather here - a little sprinkle this AM but nothing untoward.  Might even get the petunias planted out front before the weekend.  Still we could use more rain.  Night stuff is nice - it doesn't really interfere with the vacationers.

Railroad this weekend.

Good Saturday morning all.  Beautiful morning, with sun shining, and going for a high in the upper 80s, low 90s today.  And 1 outside cat who came inside:  turns out, it has been Little Mud, who has been running into the house all this time, not little Mook.  Here I've been calling them by the wrong name all these months.  ConfusedAshamed

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And our Saturday morning brunch is ready and on the warmer/cooler bar:  everything from bacon, eggs, cantaloupe, watermelon and other melons and fruits to grits, country fried steak/chicken/pork chops and red eye gravy and homemade buttermilk biscuits & gravy.

VBS ended on a good note last night.  All the kids said, on their way out, that they had a good time and had fun.  So I guess all the planning and preparations of the past 2 months was worth it.  And they all got their VBS certificates last night.  They had to wait until the end of the evening to get fed last night, because it took a while longer to get their food ready:  chicken 'tacos', with all the taco fixings, and macaroni & cheese for them.  Had to wait for the chicken to bake, then for those in the kitchen to shred it so the little ones could handle it better.

Everyone have a good day, keep safe, take care and keep as cool as possible, and I'll see you all later this afternoon, early evening for our pizza fest.

Little Mook Sr feels like Lotta Mud this morning.

Up @ 4 am - will be 91 today, so went grocery shopping @ 7 - home by 8.  That's a good time to shop - not many people - and no one laughed at my nightgown and bunny slippers.

I keep reading that robins don't eat birdseed.  Well, we have what really looks and sounds like a robin in our mix of birds, that comes running really fast up to me when I put out birdseed.  He is the first one in line and the rabbit is the 2nd (corncob)  One of these times I am going to have robin beak prints in my leg when his brakes don't work and rabbit tracks up my back.  They even know which duplex door food comes out, so the squirrels all line up at the back door.  No doorbell, thank goodness.

Ah - outdoor pets are wonderful!

....Beautiful morning here, but we're in a pattern of getting warmer.  The Nebraska 90's to be here tomorrow.  The beauty of this past week, has been the low humidity.  That's not normal for this area.

But weather doesn't seem to be "normal" very much of the time anymore.

Quentin, according to my homepage on puter, we have a current temp of 87 degrees.  But, with the humidity rising, to me, it feels like 90+ outside.  Did take a walk this morning, around 9 a.m., and it was very nice, even had a nice little breeze.  At 2:38, when I went to the grocery, no breeze whatsoever, to speak of.  YUCK describes how it felt outside, waiting for the bus, and then walking across McDonald's parking lot to Kroger's parking lot.

Here is our Pizza Fest menu for tonight:

01.  Anchovie

02.  Canadian bacon

03.  Cheese

04.  Chicago style

05.  Goetta

06.  Ham & green pepper

07.  Hawaiian

08.  Italian sausage

09.  Pepperoni/mushroom

10.  Supreme

Desserts for tonight:

1.  Strawberry cheesecake

2.  Choice of Apple of Blackberry pie

3.  Choice of peach or strawberry/rhubarb cobbler

Everyone have a good evening, take care, keep as cool as possible and I'll see you all in the morning.

Paula, to my surprise...when I looked at the instrument it indicated 90 degrees late this afternoon...!  But our humidity has stayed low yet today, just as it has been all week.

But tomorrow, it will catch up with us and then....it certainly will feel like 90 {it's forecast}, to be that too.

Beautiful day here.  We were sitting on the patio this evening and it's so nice outside, and a hot air balloon passed by.

Good Sunday morning all.  Sun is beginning to come up, and we have a current temp in the low 70s, hovering around 71, 72 degrees, depending on where you live here in the metro area.  Supposed to get up to about 86 degrees or so, with more humidity, which will be bringing in rain later this afternoon, early evening, probably.  So guess we'll be feeling sticky later on this afternoon.  You can bet your bottom dollar that I'll pretty much be here in the house, enjoying the AC!

Quentin, how are you and Jean doing?  Hope Jean's progress is still going well.

Been outside this morning, and one of the new little kitties seems to have a breathing problem; but she won't let any of us get too close to her, to check her out.  She was weezing, and shaking her head.  I thought, at first, that she had a hairball:  she has a really thick coat of fur.  Hope she will soon let us get near her:  she has a tendency to run the other way, if we inadvertently get too close.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer/cooler bar, ranging from bacon, eggs, toast to watermelon cantaloupe, kiwi, papaya, etc.

Everyone have a good morning, whether you're going to Church, work, railfanning, or whatever/wherever you'll be.  See you all later this afternoon.

Paula.........Believe Jean's progress from the op is doing rather well.  Yesterday and today, she's really been bothered with neck pains....Maybe arthiritus.

We expect to check with our family Dr. tomorrow and see if any meds change needed, etc.....

Me, I'm hanging in there pretty good.

91 degrees up here right now.  Believe our partly cloudy day is keeping temps down just a bit.  Humidity is back too.

Maybe rain tonight....and possibly Mon. & Tues.  And we need it.

Thanks for the update, Quentin!  Odd that Jean and I are both experiencing some neck pain.  Although, with mine, I just figured I slept with my neck a little bit crooked the past couple of nights.  Sometimes, I have a tendency to do that.

Well, the gym/community center is back to normal, as far as looks go:  tents are down, tables down, and everything cleared out.  Guess all good things must come to an end.  Next on our agenda, is planning and organizing the annual St. George's Church and Community Center Health & Fun Fair, coming up on August 4th.

Here is our Sunday Dinner menu:

Meat loaf, mashed taters w/your choice of meat loaf gravy or milk gravy, green beans w/shelled beans, corn on the cob, and homemade buttermilk biscuits.

For Dessert, we have:

1.  Apple and  peach cobbler

2.  Blackberry and blueberry pies

3.  Yellow cake w/chocolate icing

All desserts can be ala mode, if anyone so desires.

Everyone have a good afternoon, enjoy your dinner, take care and see you all later on.

Good Sunday afternoon everyone. 55° and partly cloudy now. We have had rain on and off since I was last here on Wednesday. No more really wild weather fortunately.

There was a rather alarming story on the news though Wednesday night from Canmore, AB, the first town east of Banff. The local authorities were afraid that a main bridge across the Bow River might wash away with the continually rising water level. So, they had a couple of Tonka Toys out digging out the channel to allow the water to flow more freely. One was working from the bank and another, a tracked model, was out in the middle of the river with water swishing over the top the the tracks. This was so close to the CPR mainline that if he had turned 90° one way instead of the other, he could have dumped a bucketful of river bottom onto the rails. I have been checking the CPR website many times a day since, but they have reported no loss of service because of this.I hope their luck holds out.

Quentin, I am glad to hear things are going well with you and Jean. I can't even begin to remember the last time it was 91° here.

CW, the Sunday Dinner sounds great, and I think I would like the Peach Cobbler for desert.

Everyone take care.

Blackberry pie - I have never tried it, but love Blueberry - so will give it a try.

Bruce - my 1st husband worked for a power company and went to - (wait for it) Canada to go to school to learn how to operate a Trac vehicle.  They used it to sit in the Platte River here in Nebraska and set power poles for a huge transmission line.  Used a helicopter too, when absolutely necessary, but the Trac was so much less expensive and not quite the thrill.

Keeping very busy - chocolate inventory, shredding papers for litter box.

How about all my cousins The Bears - CO, NJ, CA and - where else - Cape Cod.  (Good fishing?)

I just Googled pictures of the Platte River. It seems like a pretty substantial waterway to be splashing around in, in a Tonka Toy! One of those no margin for error deals.

I have had Blackberry Pie back when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I have never been much of a fan of any kind of berry pie.

As I remember - they went out from both sides as far as they could without drowing the Trac or the driver and then helicopters were used for the very middle.  In pictures, it was a very impressive Canadian Tonka.

I am berry, berry fond of berries - right after bits... of chocolate.....Big Smile

Not fond of rasberry or blackberry pie, and strawberries are better with shortcake, but I'll take blueberries in just about any form.

Couple of decent days on the railroad - warm enough to call for the A/C in the passenger car, but not so hot as to be oppressive.

Next weekend it's fire stuff at the NYS Fire Chief's Expo.

What, no mention of rhubarb pie? I was introduced to it my first year in college. It did not seem to be popular with most of the students, and  afteralmost all had gone after supper, I would go around from table to table, eating my fill. However, in my second year, I had to leave early one night when rhubarb pie was the dessert--and the dietician apparently got the message that it was not well received, and we never had it again. Even though I was on good terms with her, I never asked her about it.

Last year, Ricki's close friends came to lunch (bringing lunch with them)--and one brought a rhubarb pie she had baked especially for me; I found it to be very good.
