Sunday Dinner is on the warmer bar:  roast, taters, carrots, beef gravy, cole slaw, dinner rolls, garden salad (for those who don't eat slaw) and green beans.

Dessert:  Yellow cake w/ white icing, peach or apple cobbler, and ice cream.

It has been a lazy afternoon for me, after getting home from Church.  Should be back over at the Church right now:  having a One Night in May, which is about when the Church and the gym had been closed, and was reopened.  Neighborhood kids didn't like that fact, so they broke into the gym, not  to steal anything, but so they could go in and play basketball, etc, because they had nowhere else to go, to play/hang out.  So the Episcopal Diacess (sp?) decided to reopen the Church and the gym.

Hope everyone has had a very good day, enjoy your evening, take care and see you all in the morrow.

Good Monday morning everyone.  Very pleasant this morning, with a temp of 68 degrees here in Louisville, going for a high in the low 80s this afternoon.  Should have seasonal temps until the weekend, when we'll be seeing temps in the low to mid 90s?  Yuck!!

Coffee, juice and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the warmer bar this morning:    bacon, eggs, toast and cereal, along with some fresh strawberries.

Hope you all had a good weekend, since it looks like no one made it back in here last evening.  Also hope everybody has a good day today.  Take care, and see you all later this afternoon.

You've got some really nice pictures there, Darren!  I for one, am glad you are sharing them with us, here in the Cafe.

We are currently at 73 degrees at 12:05 p.m.  And it is very overcast outside, making it a good day to finish up on getting laundry done.  Have to wonder if we'll make it to the projected 81 degrees for this afternoon.

I've got lunch on the warmer bar:  leftover roast, taters & carrots, other side dishes and desserts from our Sunday Dinner menu yesterday.  Everyone have a good afternoon, take care and see you all later.

Every day you learn something!

Neighbors behind us have 3 story house that is getting a new roof.  Old roof is off; nails are all pounded in properly and shingles will go up before much longer. .

I learned that there is no way they would ever get me up on the roof or keep me there.  Hate heights!  Standing on a curb is a real accomplishment.

Been hungry for roast beef, so will make me a sandwich.  Yum!

Greetings everyone, and I hope my fellow Canadian readers had a nice Victoria Day weekend. Our May long weekend. Our Victoria Day weather is 66° and partly cloudy right now.

Tomorrow my Mom gets out of the hospital and moves into her new home at a seniors facility. This is more complicated than you might think, and new issues seemed to be popping up every day. But now everything is a go.

Q, glad to hear everything is progressing in your part of the world.

That is all I have for now.

Wow, Q - that is great!  1/2 mile today....1/2 marathon tomorrow!

Bruce - Mothers are known to be very resilient, so my bet is she will do ok after the initial adjustment.

Eating a tomato right now.  Not out of a garden, but not all that bad.  I eat the little guys so I don't waste any and they make good snacks.

Trains are really quiet!  Even tho we don't hear the whistles any more, we hear the whine of the engines as they pull the grade just west of here.  I have heard nothing.  So I should probably drag The Driver down trackside tomorrow and make sure all is ok....Big Smile

Good Tuesday morning everyone.  Partly cloudy skies this morning, with temps ranging from 56 to 61 degrees in our area.  Going for a high of about 75, 76 this afternoon.  Should be a pretty nice day for whatever needs to be done.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Don't worry, Tom and Tree, also have plenty of hot water ready for your cups of hot tea.  Breakfast of bacon, sausage, eggs and toast is ready and waitin' on the warmer bar.

Have a good morning, everyone take care, and I'll see you all this afternoon.

Good Morning Railfans!

It's 59F and clear heading for a record breaking heat in the low 90's; yesterday we just missed breaking the record high.

News on the Bunny front.  We now have seen two babies but the neighbors got serious and have so far trapped the mother and one of the babies last night.  They hope they can catch the other baby today and the drop off the whole family down at the park along the canal.

Another beautiful day in the north country.  Some thunderbumpers are a possibility (we had a little one yesterday), but nothing to fear.

Opening weekend for the railroad coming up this weekend.  I'm on all three days, as has become my habit.  Looks like the weather will cooperate.

Produce went well this morning; and we even had the Bread/Pastry truck show up.

For supper tonight, we have a very light menu:

1.  Snap peas ( brought home from Produce today) with meat, sweet red & green peppers on a bed of steamed rice

2.  Spaghetti w/meat sauce, garden salad w/fresh spinach leaves, and Italian bread sticks

3.  Vegetable beef soup w/cornbread

Larry, hope you survive your long holiday weekend, working on the railroad.  Also hope you have an enjoyable time, if possible.

Everyone take care, have a good evening, and see you all in the morning.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  Looks like it'll be another beautiful day here in our neck of the woods.  Can't remember what the current temp is, but supposed to get up into the low 80s, possibly 83 degrees this afternoon.

Well, after today's VBS session to get things ready, we'll have 3 more sessions before starting VBS.  Getting down to the wire.

Coffee, juice and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

Good morning and peace be with you. 68 and cloudy, headed for 86 and partly sunny. Paula, thanks for breakfast and the nice email. Both are much appreciated.

I woke up at 0400 qand piddled around on the internet and frankly, I am borede. Nothing on the wireless or the web that is interesting, so I think it must be nap time.

In Columbia, somebody hollered SNAKE and a homeowner fetched his hoe and went to look for it. What he found was a 20 or so foot long behemoth climbing a tree. It has variously been identified as a rat snake or a python and DNR and the police won't respond to a rat snake, even though they haven't even seen this. Meanwhile, the guy is stuck with a tree frull of humongous snake, which he just wants GONE!

On that note, everyone take care and have a great day.

Tom

Happy Hump Day Railfans!

It's 60F and Sunny heading for the seasonal mid 70's today.  As excepted, we broke the record high yesterday as we got into the low 90's which is about 20 degrees above normal for this time of year.

Good Thursday morning all.  Currently 66 degrees here in Louisville, going for a high in the mid to upper 80s this afternoon.  Took a walk after I got home from over at the Center yesterday afternoon, and I think I must have overdid it:  my leg muscles are so very sore this morning.  Actually, they were somewhat sore after I got home, but compared to this morning, that was just stiffness.

Coffee, juice and other morning beverages are fresh  and ready to go.  On the warmer/cooler bar this morning:  bacon, eggs, toast, several different kinds of cereal, cantaloupe and watermelon chunks.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and see you all later on.

Good Morning All:

Another hot day here in the ArkLaTex region of NW Louisiana.  I am working here at Barksdale AFB during week and then drive back to San ANtonio for the weekends.  Its a bit of a drive (400 miles) but not too bad.

Hope everyone is doing well today.

Good Morning Railfans!

Well, it rained and rained some more last night and woke up to a misty morning as I headed off to work.  Right now it's 46F with fog but it will burn off soon and get into the low 70's by afternoon.  Looks like it might be mostly a nice weekend coming up but I have already been warned the "Task List" for this weekend is a bit long.

Music  Not quite the sound or size I wanted, but hey, it is better than I have ever found.  Those old whistles just don't seem to exist any more.

LOL - Well, you have to admit you didn't specify anything more then wanting sound; so...

SL - I have some of the wave sounds, but this still isn't exactly what I am looking for in a whistle.  The CBQ used to have E's & F's (if I have my terminology right and when they were in the yard getting ready to leave, they would whistle and it was a really deep "blat" is all I can say.  I just can't find any sounds that are really deep like that was.

Not sure if they had a "special" whistle or just one that didn't make it into the present.  I wasn't all that old and heard a lot of different whistles, but none got my attention like that particular one.

Thanx for trying.

CW - Thumbs Up pizza is always good any time of day!
