Hi CW, and everyone else. I will have one of those New England dinners.

68° and sunny now. More of the same for the next few days, with highs getting up to the mid-seventies.

Quentin, I'm glad things are progressing well enough with Jean that you got a chance to get outside, and attend to your yard. It sounds like a lot of work to keep up with, but you certainly seem to enjoy it. Back when my father was still alive, in the spring my parents used to go on about wanting to get out "on the land!" And "the land" was only a 50X125 ft. city lot! Both of them came from rural backgrounds, as you might guess.

Happy Belated Birthday, Cannonball.

My Mom is well enough now that she will be signing the lease on a new home in a seniors centre, on Monday. Then is it up to us to arrange the rest of the logistics to move her from the hospital to her new place. We're thinking it will be later in the following week, due to final pre-admittance paperwork, and moving some furniture from her house to the new place.

I took the time today to check my local RR news sources for the first time in over a month, and I see I didn't miss anything too newsworthy. Everything is in a kind of suspended animation, waiting for the CPR AGM and the Proxy Vote on May 17. It was interesting to see Hatton, SK mentioned on the CP website as the scene of damage from a grass fire back in March. That would be really scary to be near something like that, because Emergency Assistance would be so desperately far away, and the only water they would have to work with is what they could bring in themselves. In the 21st Century, it seems like I am the only one to ever mention Hatton on the web. It was surprising to see someone else do it.

Wishing all mothers a Happy Mother's Day,Big Smile and everyone take care.

Thank you Bruce and all the good people on here.

And wishing a good day for your special day Cannonball...!

Bruce, I do enjoy trying to keep our property nice and it's not really that big....roughly .65% of an acre.  But it connects right to the golf course and together looks so pretty....Especially this time of the year.

Happy Mother's day to all the Mothers.

Cannonball - may you have many more.  And thanks for the wishes for Mom.

Found out that one of our firefighters had a birthday today, too.  If I'd known that before our FD banquet tonight, we'd have sung "Happy Birthday" to him, much to his chagrin, I'm sure.

It was a good meal and a good time.  Totally surprised our Firefighter of the Year recipient, even after I'd  dropped several hints, one of which his wife picked up on.  He's a worthy recipient with many years of service.

Good Sunday morning everyone, and Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms here on the trains forums!!Gift Gift Gift Gift

Hope all the Moms on here have a Terrific Day with your families, and wishing you all the very best.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the warmer bar this morning:

Pancakes w/your choice of jams, jellies and pancake syrups, bacon, sausage, and scrambled eggs.

Have the Crock Pots and Slow Cookers going with  Pork Chop Abracadbra and Roast, taters and carrots for our Sunday Dinner.  (Since it is raining, at least here in our area, thought that would be a better fit for today, instead of grilling out.)

Everyone have a good morning, take care going to Church, work,  rail fanning, visiting Moms, whatever is planned for your day.  See you all later this afternoon, sometime.

Peace be with you. 61 and clear in Carolina, headed for 76 and rain later. I am up early/late, trying to contact Yemen and Somalia on the wireless. Those countries have been super rare of late and each has an operation going on. The entire world wants a contact. Lawdy what a mess!

We had the Southern 500 near here yesterday, and the drunk tanks are full of malefactors. One of them is my cousin, who is in the jug drying out, last I heard.

A very happy MOTHERS DAY to each mama on the forum. I lost mine in 1990 and still miss her a lot. Of course, if she were here, most probably she would take a stick to me, or maybe a board.....

Everyone take care and have a great day.

Tom

Received flowers from Daughter/Grandson - not just any florist flowers - an arrangement of silk flowers she made herself.  (she is a great artist)  This is something I can keep for many years to come and don't have to squash them in a book.

Off to watch some trains - (BNSF, don't fail me now!) and then Driver cooking for supper.

Life is still very, very nice!

It looks like the rain is just about out of our area:  Tom, guess its headed your direction?  Walt just checked our rain gauge a few minutes ago, and we've gotten 2 1/2 inches of rain, since about 8:30, 9:00 last night.  At least the rain has been a nice, slow and steady rain.  That is what we really need. Kind of wish I could have gone out to the cemetery, to wish my Mama a Happy Mother's Day, but it would have been too wet out there; so I just looked up towards Heaven and wished her a Very Happy Mother's Day, and told her how much I still love her, and how much I miss her.

Mookie, sounds like you've had a really good Mother's Day so far!  And hopefully, BNSF cooperated for you, so you would have a good train watching afternoon.  Happy Mother's Day, my friend.

The Crock Pot and Slow Cooker have   turned over to warm, so everything is now ready for our Sunday Dinner.  There is also plenty of chocolate cake (and yellow cake w/chocolate icing) for dessert, with whatever flavor ice cream you wish to have.

Everyone have a good evening and take care.

Just got off the phone with Mom, she had a nice, quiet day.

Did some work on the house - a little paint on the house itself and on a couple of windows I took out so I could work on them.  Unfortunately, in the process of trying to take off some old glazing compound so I could redo it, I broke one pane, so it's off to the home improvement store tomorrow.

Might see some rain here Tuesday, which won't be a bad thing.

Good Monday morning everyone.  Starting out with temps ranging from the mid 50s to low 60s in our area this morning.  Should see   everything starting to dry out from all the rain yesterday, and   a high today in the upper 70s.  So should be  pretty good day.  Hope everyone had a very good weekend.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar:  bacon, sausage links/patties, scrambled eggs (or however you'd like your eggs this morning), and toast.

You all have a good morning, take care, and see you all later.

Afternoon folks.  Still trying to get awake, but at least I've gotten a few things done, along with going back to sleep this morning.  Just cannot seem to wake up today.  Guess between the doctor appointments last week, and everything else that I had going on, my system is trying to tell me it needs to 'play catch up' today.

I've warmed up the leftovers from our Sunday Dinner, and everything is now on the warmer bar.  If there's any roast left after you all finish lunch (and there should be, I made three of them yesterday, along with 2 of the pork chop abracadbra), think I'll fix open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters and gravy, along with some other side dishes for supper tonight.  Any objections?  If so, let me know what you'd like to have instead.

I had to look closely at SBL's image there - we're gutting out a car to use as a "table" car...

Rain stayed south today - may see some tomorrow.

Back to work.

Well, it has been a beautiful couple of days here in the foothills of the blue Canadian Rockies. Sunny with highs in the seventies and a high of 81° called for tomorrow.

Everyone got in to visit Mom yesterday. Today is lease signing day at the new residence.

Quentin, glad to hear Jean is progressing well.

Didn't see any news local RR news today.

Ditto Bruce's weather.  Sun and mid 80's all week.  Sending it on to Jean so she can sit and soak it up.  (vitamin D, you know)

I will vouch for the fact that trains are still running.

Tree - I bet CW has ours furnished already.

Tomorrow is our election day - We voted by mail a long time ago, so I am going to go hide under the bed.  TV will get a rest tomorrow nite!

Peace be with you. 68 and cloudy in Carolina, headed for 85 and thunder later. We got right at an inch of rain yesterday, and the town got knocked around some. Apparently a substation took a hit and about two thirds of the town went dark for over 2 hours. Here, we never knew about it till the evening news reported it. There may be a repeat today. Also, there were several tornado warnings, and widespread hail, but aways off from us.

Q, give my regards to Jean and tell her I inquired about her and continue to pray for her.

Everyone take care and have a great day.

Tom

Good Morning Railfans!

It's 42F and clear here heading up to the low 80's again today.  Bunny, what bunny?  So far it has not shown up in our yard since I took away it's safe spot under the shed.  Saw a coyote on the way to work so the bunny better stay close to it's new safe spot or become a fast food meal.  Got the first day of our Wichita Trip posted on my blog <click here> but here is one shot I took on Day #1 I think all will enjoy.

Good afternoon all.  Sorry about not getting in here this morning:  was just too busy getting ready for today (Produce, and getting supper started in the Slow Cooker.  We're to also have temps in the low to mid 80s, I believe is what I heard on the news this morning:  missed the noon news altogether.

Here's what I have going in the Slow Cooker:

1.  Chicken abracadbra w/onion, cooking in a couple cans of cream of chicken soup; along with the chicken, we'll have mashed taters w/plenty of melted butter, green beans, corn, garden salad, made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits and milk gravy.

2.  Will also be fixing some burritos and tacos for tonight, as well.

On the Produce truck this morning, we got plenty of potatoes, carrots, romaine hearts lettuce, 1/2 pints of chocolate milk, and the Temptations by Jell-O double chocolate pie pudding cups.  Used some of the carrots and romaine in the salad for this afternoon and tonight.

Everyone take care, have a great afternoon, whatever you'll be doing.  See you all later.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  Wow:  looks like we had no one in here after I was in yesterday afternoon.  You all must have been out and about, enjoying the nice, warm weather.  That's o.k., I've gotten everything cleaned up, and the place is looking like new again.

Coffee is just about ready, and I've made fresh oj, oj/pineapple, oj/tangerine and apple juice.  And breakfast of bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, toast and jelly/jam/preserves, all on the warmer bar.

Everyone have a beautiful day, take care, and I'll see you whenever I get through with VBS work this afternoon.

Afternoon Railfans!

It's in the low 80's here right now and the local news is once again filled with a new wild fire up near Fort Collins.  Hopefully they can keep this one contained in the valley where it is as not much for homes in that area but high winds could send it into more populated areas.  Got Day#2 and Day#3 of our Wichita trip now in my blog and here is a photo from Day #2.

Great picture, Darren!!  I really enjoy seeing the pictures you post each day.  Thank you very much for sharing them with us each day.

It's been a very good afternoon.  We got the rest of the flower pots painted today, at our VBS meeting, then I took a walk, while Walt went to the library (and probably did a little bit of railfanning).

Quentin, hope Jean is continuing to improve, and I'll be continuing to pray for you two each night in my prayers.

For our supper tonight:

1.  Leftover pork chop abracadbra and chicken abracadabra w/mashed taters and butter, broccoli w/butter sauce and also you have another choice of brussels sprouts w/butter sauce, homemade buttermilk biscuits and cream style corn.

2.  Round steaks w/cream of mushroom soup sauce, and any of the above side dishes in #1.

We reached a high of 82 degrees (which made my walk a tad bit on the very warm side, as I was walking home).  But the skies are clouding up, and we will probably be getting some rain showers in the next little bit.  Sure looks like it could start anytime.  Everyone take care, have a good evening, and see you all tomorrow morning.  Just heard a rumble of thunder outside.  Guess the rain is just about here.
