Amen and amen on both accounts! You forgot the ice cream, tho. BTW, how many whacks do you get, plus one to grow on?
Later.

Tom, I am 60 years young, having been born on May 5, 1952.
Mookie, pizza and chocolate cake sound real good (as a matter of fact, I just took a 13" by 9" pan out of the oven, having baked my own chocolate birthday cake here at home. Even have a container of chocolate icing to go on it, after it cools sufficiently).
Joe, I am enjoying my birthday. Have just been taking it easy, relaxing in my recliner, and reading a good book.
Thank you all, so far, for the lovely birthday wishes!
~~~ greetings of the day to you. The last gift is full of good wishes and continued good health. If you had a wager on todays event and the waged didn't pan out , Hope it won't go to the glue factory.
Hope you had a good day Paula on your special day.
We're continuing our struggle.....Had some help on several things we had to have accomplished today.
Believe too much talking for a while for Jean with a RN church friend....Got her in bed by 9:30. So we pray for a good day tomorrow.
Quentin
Happy Birthday Paula,
Sounds like you're just getting warmed up!
Big Q,
Keep on keeping on, it will get better.
Good Sunday morning everyone. Very warm this morning, with temps in the low 70s, going for a high in the upper 80s, still quite muggy outside.
Once again, I want to thank each and everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday. Yeah, Ed, guess I am just getting warmed up (maybe in more ways than one).
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go: including Gatorade, iced tea, lemonade, etc. And on the warmer bar this morning: an assortment of fruits, doughnuts, danish, bacon, eggs, toast, muffins, bear claws, bagels, sausage, pancakes w/an assortment of toppings.
Quentin, here's hoping and praying that Jean will continue on the road to good health. And be sure you're taking care of yourself, too, as Jean doesn't need you to be under the weather.
Everyone have a very good day, take care going to Church, work, rail fanning, or whatever else you have to do or go today. See you all this afternoon.
Ed, Paula, and all good friends on here....We're at another day, and Pray we can make some headway. Family Dr. with all the records now from what we just had Jean thru, will converse with us as we visit his office Monday morning.
Hope he can add some action to improve the progress. We're both trying to keep the possitive outlook, to put time behind us and get things better. Continue the Prayers.
On a lighter note....a beautiful full moon visible in our clear skies last night, and perhaps most know it was closer, hence appeared a bit bigger....I thought I could tell a difference...?
Sunshine, and a quiet morning here today.
Again, thanks all...
Hang in there Quentin.
Best wishes to you and to Jean!
Quentin, I did notice the full moon last night, as Walt and I were sitting outside on the front porch. It was also still out this morning, when I went out after I woke up. Beautiful!
Quentin, hope everything goes well with regular doctor tomorrow. Just keep the faith, and will be continuing to pray for you all.
Our Sunday Dinner will be grilled sirloin steaks, grilled veggie/fruit kabobs, potato salad, mac & cheese, corn on the cob and cole slaw. Guess we'll also include some brats and reg. hot dogs, too.
Desserts: Plenty of chocolate birthday cake ( cake is chocolate fudge w/chocolate fudge icing), ice cream, peach cobbler, Dutch apple pie; all served ala mode, if desired.
Hope everyone is enjoying your Sunday afternoon (if you're not having to work today, that is). Take care, and see you all later.
afternoon
nice day today.got home from church and sunday school and took care of the yardwork.guessers say rain coming in.Modelcar still keeping Jean in our prayers.Cw thanks for supper.Back to work tonight.
Howdy all,
Weather here has been very pleasant, high about 70, light wind and mostly sunny after the morning clouds burn off. Spent a good part of the weekend on the second to the last YMCA Adventure Guide campout with my younger son as he "bounces out" at the final campout of the season. It has been an interesting 7 years with my two boys.
Quentin:
My best wishes to Jean on her recovery.
Paula:
Looks like we're a bit over two years apart in age.
- Erik
Good Monday morning everyone. Temp's in the mid 60s this morning, going for a high in the mid 80s later this afternoon. But still muggy out. Rain/storms should be in here sometime after 2 p.m. this afternoon, continuing to tomorrow morning. Hopefully, I can get my walk in later this morning, and be back home before anything starts.
Erik, welcome to the Flat Wheel Cafe! As for our ages, we're just getting better, right? The only time I feel older, is when the ole bones are aching and telling me to stop whatever I'm doing. Other than that, don't feel any older than 40 something.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. And breakfast is on the warmer bar.
We (Walt, Sarah and I) watched a movie last night: Date Movie. It was all right, for a comedy, but for someone who has battled weight issues most of my life, it wasn't that funny to me. Although I did enjoy watching it. Even managed to get a laugh or 2 from watching it.
Everyone have a good day, take care, and see you all later.
Belated Happy Birthday wishes Paula!
Morning all.....
Well, getting that familiar itch again, plus vacation is done, so packing up for the road again. Got a lot done on the house, both outside and inside, still much to do, as always. Did discuss possibly finally having a house warming party this fall, we should have enough done to finally show off the house to family and friends by then......
Dreary day outside, we got nearly an inch of rain over the past 24 hours, which helped to settle our garden. Should be able to plant in a week or two.
Time to leave, see everyone on Facebook, be nice if Trains had a forum app for the smartphones, I don't fire up the laptop very often anymore since I got mine.....
See everyone on the road.....
Randy; wanderlust is very addictive, it can be a good thing or a dread at times. One of the many " good things" is : many trains for the eyes to see. The not so good things is the " lot lizzards" that wander around the truck stops.We have seen so many trains of different content on many railroads. The highway was are home for more than a few years as yours will be in time. The experience is better than any colledge degree.
Thunderboomers this morning,maybe more this afternoon.Chores to do.Cw thanks for supper tonight.
So far, the rain is holding off getting to our neck of the woods. There is a light breeze blowing, so it makes the 80+ degrees outside somewhat bearable (yep, got my walk in awhile ago).
Here is our menu for the rest of the day:
1. Italian spaghetti w/meatballs, tossed salad and bread sticks
2. Tuna melt casserole w/tossed salad and bread sticks
3. Fried chicken w/mashed taters, milk gravy, green beans, sliced red tomatoes and made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits
4. Homemade vegetable beef soup w/or without cornbread
Desserts: Chocolate or strawberry cheesecake, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, and there's still some of my birthday cake left, along with plenty of ice cream, whatever flavor you'd like.
Everyone have a good afternoon, take care and see you all later.
We live on one of the busiest streets in central Lincoln. We lose squirrels and some birds out front every year due to the traffic.
Today, the traffic came to a complete halt to let a mated pair of Mallards cross the street and wander up our next door neighbor's driveway.
Suppose they heard about the cafe in the back yard? Corn is on the menu, along with drinking water.
Have had wild turkeys, raccoons, badgers, crows, owls, hawks and even a deer wander thru the neighborhood, but the ducks are a first!
Quack!
Gee, more critters at your place than on this forum.
Hello rail fan friends. Just short visits for now.
Family Dr. getting us "visiting nurse" type help, and some meds change, and it was a better day for Jean. Managed a bit more food.
Now, if we can continue that long gentle grade upward.....
Best to all on here....
Lighter note: 1.3" of rain this afternoon, and a half inch over last night. Guess it's making up for the lack of snow this past Winter.
But oh my.....With our situation, difficult to keep up with the yard. To be mostly sunny and 75 tomorrow, sounds like maybe I can get on it...
On the animals: Here we've seen....Deer right past the house and running down the fairway....Canidian geece landing on the fairway back of us.....rabbits.....lots of birds....squirrels and our little miniature Doxy keeps them all on the run....She even ran after a deer one morning, that I didn't know it was out in the yard before I let her out.
Ooooh! Veggie soup just so I can have the cornbread!
Quentin - any good news is good news.
I live in a small hamlet in the country. Don't get many "victims" here in town (maybe some frogs on a wet night), but plenty of them outside of town. The squirrels and other varmints aren't much of a problem, but the deer are. Hardly a day goes by without somebody getting one somewhere in the county, and some parts of the year there are several every day.
Of course, this afternoon, a young lady got a guardrail. The car lost...
Got the new power tool bench (jigsaw, grinder, drill press) all assembled and in place. Hardest part was figuring out what to do with all the junk that used to sit where the bench is now...
Good Tuesday morning everyone. 67 degrees here in Louisville this morning, going for a high in the mid 70s later this afternoon. It definitely feels a bit cooler outside this morning. Don't think we ever received any rain at all yesterday/last night. Kept looking like it was about to start several times, but just moved right on by us. No moisture on the garbage bin, and the recycle bins sitting by the curb for pickup this morning, are dry.
Quentin, glad to hear the good news regarding Jean. I know that relieves your mind.
Tree, glad you enjoyed the veg. soup and cornbread!
Along with the assortment of stray/neighborhood cats and squirrels, we have seen possums, raccoons, and rabbits in our neighborhood over the past 24 years. If I've missed any critters, I'm sure Walt will add them to the list.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Breakfast is on the warmer bar.
You all have a very good morning, and I'll see you all later on, after Tuesday Produce.
And then there were 4 little chickens! (this is in place of cigars!)
Drop in @ overspoor.com and check them out. And note that the mouse fridge is located in far corner behind Mom.
Good Day Railfans!
Back from a brief vacation as the family traveled to Wichita, KS to see my youngest niece graduate from collage from Friends University. Out of all my nieces and nephews she is the only one to obtain a collage degree (Double major Zoo Science / Field Biology) so I am extremely proud of her. It will be tough to get a job right now in her chosen field but she is looking at options until something opens up. Right now she is 1-of-5 remaining out of 200 that applied for a position that she is trying to get into right now so I'm pulling for her! Got some Railfanning in while out there too and will have a blog entry up in a few days about the trip.
Good afternoon all. I've had a semi busy day. Produce went well this morning. We got potatoes (which I really needed today), carrots, organic iceburg lettuce (which I didn't get, cause we ran out of it), fresh green beans, 1/2 pints of chocolate milk and something else, that I can't remember what it was. Then I went to the grocery store.
Darren, congrats to your niece!!
Mookie, as soon as I get through here, I'm checking out that website!!
For supper tonight, I have made:
1. Beef pot pies
2. Turkey pot pies
I'm not sure what our current temp is, but it feels very nice and comfortable outside. Probably should have taken a walk this afternoon. May not get a good walk in until Friday or Saturday, as the next 2 days are doctor appointments, for checkups.
You all have a good evening, take care and see you all later.
The county sent Mr. Coyote out to keep an eye on us today. Think he got bored and went to find somewhere else to hunt for a while.
