.....Yes Paula....Soft foods only, and liquid drinks like "Boost".  We're home again, and the food struggle is still a big problem, but we're really trying.

And keep the Prayers coming......Thanks to all.

Q&J:

Glad to hear Jean is back home, Sorry to hear about the trip back to the hospital. Hope all is well now.  Sometimes those little 'whoopses" happen.

Speaking of which, this week has been a booger!  Straight line winds on Sunday night, Monday early, got the last live big cottonwood in my back yard. Fortunately, when it fell it fell into my next door neighbors cottonwood. Which keep it from mashing their outdoor deck flat. These are pretty good sized 125feet plus, about 3 feet in diameter.

Since they are right adjacent to the Creek, their roots are shallow (Cottonwoods are lazy trees, their roots go to the nearest water (about 2-3 feet there). So they are subject to being pushed by high winds and catch lightening when they are taking up water.  At least they are going to get taken down.ASAP!  Same winds got the roof of the house. bent the shingles up and broke some off.

  Gotta Love this Spring weather!

OH, Well! The good Lord only gives you what you can carry!

Praying for you and Jean.  Hope she gets better soon. Take Care!

   Sam & Carla

No "weather" here so far, but we may see some in the next few days.  Hoping for a nice day Saturday as daughter has party planned for grandson and I think "outdoors" figures heavily into the plans.

Finally got the lawn mowed for the first time.  Need to de-thatch it and then spread some "weed & feed." The de-thatch part may involve a power rake, if I can find one to rent.

The other major lawn project will be to relocate some of the sand the town highway folks spread every winter out of the margin (between the road and the sidewalk) and into other locations around the yard.  It's a recurring job, depending on how much sand they spread through the winter.

Here's to Jean feeling better.

CW, thank you for your mention of me in your post of Sunday morning. It has now been officially determined that due to memory and confusion issues my Mom will no longer be able to live on her own in her house. It seems like we have determined which facility she will be moving into, but nothing has been signed on the dotted line yet. This is a very complex process involving a lot of health care professionals.

My siblings have decided that my brother will not be the "bad" cop, but "necessary evil" one, to deliver the news to my Mom and show her around her new home. It is felt that she needs to hear the news from one consistent source so that she will be better able to take in and understand what is happening. My sister and me will follow along to help her cope with what has happened. This sure isn't what I expected to be doing in the months of April and May.

In local news we are still getting forecast of snow in the past few days. And I only today had a chance to read in Monday's Newswire of the closing of CP's Ogden Shops after 99 years. It has been there so long the layout of Calgary in that area will be forever affected by its' presence.

And finally, Quentin, I hope everything is improving for Jean and yourself. Take care of both of you.

Thanks for your prayers and best wishes.

Bruce

I am constantly amazed by what some people think they can get away with in renovations........

Started our living room painting today, got about halfway done, we decided to finish one section completely before starting the next, so did the wall with the windows first.  Went to take down the blinds above our large window, and found out it was just screwed into the trim with one inch screws (YIKES!!!).  So I went digging around in our spare screws box, and found some 2-1/2 inch screws, moved the brackets off the trim, and screwed it into the structure of the house.  I don't think they will fall down now.....

Warmer today, but also more humid, supposed to have lots of thunderstorms through Thursday night, weather service says lots of rain with these, flash flood watches are up in some areas.

Tomorrow will take a break from the house, running up to work to attend a safety meeting, my dispatcher has a heck of a time trying to get me to one, so going to attend one on my vacation.  Gives me an excuse to swing by a few hobby shops in the area, as well.....

See everyone later.....

Love baby pictures!  They always look a little surprised and happy about it!

Randy - Holmes on Homes?

Bruce - I had to deal with my favorite aunt on moving out of her beloved home and into a facility.  But I knew she would be watched over and taken care of and we wouldn't have to worry about her getting hurt or wandering off.  She loved it once she got settled.  She had all new family as well as the old one!

I put all the winter items away and turned on the air today.  It is so humid I could barely breathe!  Going to sleep much better tonite.

Q - have Jean choose something off CW's menu - I know nothing there will bother her!  Wink

Quentin, may you have the endurance to care for Jean.

Randy, when we moved into our house, going on thirty-eight years ago, I found that the previous owner had made some "improvements" in the basement. (I removed almost everything he had done, and made it habitable for two girls and a boy). Among his works, I discovered that before he had nailed particle board to the ceiling joists, he had installed boxes for ceiling fixtures--and did not bother to run the wire through the joists, but held the wire up with the particle board; I thought it was a wonder he had not driven a nail through the wire.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  Temp in the upper 60s this morning, and beautiful sunshine right now.  Could have a 30% chance of showers/storms later this afternoon, around Pegasus Parade time (5:30).  Supposed to get up to 90 today (yesterday, only made it to 89).

1.  Ed, you have such a cutie pie for a granddaughter!!  How old is she now??  I'm losing track here.

2.  Mookie, thank you for the compliment on my cooking.  In the 30+ years I've been cooking, no one has ever gotten sick from my cooking, so guess I'm doing something right. And mostly, people have started to feel better after eating my meals.

3.  Quentin:  If I lived closer to you & Jean, I'd make her a big ole pot of homemade vegetable beef soup.  Tastes a whole lot better than opening canned soup and heating it.

4.  Bruce, always remembering everyone here in my nightly prayers,  no matter their current situation.  Even in good times, we can all use friends/family/acquaintances praying for us.  And that is what I do.

5.  Cannonball Jim:  thank you for the extra prayers from you, Shirl and your Church family.  Very much appreciated.  Have learned that niece if out of the hospital, but don't know where she is.  When I talked with her Mom yesterday, Mom said niece said she didn't want to go back to her home just yet.  Her sisters picked her up from the hospital, so maybe she's staying with one of them for a few days.

6.  Randy, know you'll do a very good job on the home repairs, etc.  Hopefully, you didn't have to do what we've had to do in this house:  remove paneling, paint, wallpaper, wallpaper, paint, paint, wallpaper, paint from your walls.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is ready and on the warmer bar.

Everyone have a beautiful morning, take care, and hopefully will see you all later this afternoon:  going to get started on paying those cotton-pickin' Bills, and get them out of the way, go grocery shopping, and probably take care of some other shopping as well.

Good Friday morning everyone.  Temp is in the upper 60s here in Louisville this morning, going for a high in the mid 80s, with possibility of rain showers/storms later on, between 5 and 9 p.m.

Happy Birthday to Dale Whitmee (nanaimo73)!! Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day  Hope you have a great day, and may you have many, many more.

Go back to cardiovascular doctor in a couple of hours, so am kind of rushed this morning.  Hopefully, the results of my short hospital stay will be good.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Including Gatorade for Mudchicken.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar, and doughnuts and danish on the counter.

Everyone have a good day, take care, keep as cool as possible, if you're experiencing this 'heat wave', and see you all later.

Low 90s last 3 days straight, no rain predicted for the next several days....Gatorade time in the yard, temps in-between the cars will be well over 100.

Managed to sunburn the underside of my chin and my earlobes from the reflected sunlight Wednesday...really odd feeling!

Got a email from Jean, (yup, I am special Ed)...wait, that don't sound quite right...anyway, she thanks all of you fine folks for your prayers and concerns, so don't think it was not noticed...this is a really great group of people here.

Well, I am back home from the doctor's office.  Good news, too!!  What was looking like a blockage turned out to be my knee implant.  So no further tests or treatments, at least unless something else turns up.  Don't have to go back to see him until Nov. 9th.

Ed, you are so very right:  we do have some really good people who come in here.  Each and every one of you are special people.  Love you all for your kindness and caring ways. And I appreciate each and every one of you guys and gals.

Our Friday Fish Fry will be on the warmer bar within the next little bit.  Got the fryer heating up now, and will be dropping the fish into it shortly.  Also working on all the side dishes, getting them ready.

It looks like we could be getting some rain in the next little bit.  Sun has gone in behind the clouds.  One of our step-nephews is a paramedic/firefighter, and he posted on Facebook, that he is on duty today as a paramedic, on foot patrol at Churchill Downs.  Hope he has a slicker or poncho handy, to stay dry if/when it starts raining, as we do have a chance of showers and storms.  Although most of it shouldn't start until late afternoon till around 9 p.m. or so tonight.

Peace be with you. 82 and sunny in Carolina this lovely day. It is headed for 89 and cloudy so they say.

CW, I am so glad the "blockage" was a false alarm. Q, I likewise am so happy for you, having your lovely bride home, new and improved. Yes, there is a special bond between the folk on this forum that makes me hurt when you hurt. I have such problem typing that I don't write much anymore, but I check in several times a day to see how yall are doing.

On that note, everyone take care, and have a great day.

88 here in Denver today, just heard we might be looking at slushy snow on Monday morning. We'll take moisture any way we can get it. Gotta go find some cherry syrup in the diner larder for my Monday morning super slushee.

Congrats to Willy2, but now I'll be watching that black cloud following me to see iff it's armed with chicken-seeking lightning bolts. The military's weather machine has got to be a lot more fun to mess with than the generic model over at good ol' Weatherliar U.

Good Saturday morning everyone.  Wow:  what a storm we had overnight.  Woke up about 1:30 a.m., to no electricity.  Got my cell and called the electric company to report the outage.  At that  point, there were 800 customers without power.  Walt and I stayed up till about 2:30, and decided we'd go back down and back to sleep.  When I awoke after 6 a.m., found the clock radio display blinking, and our night light in the bedroom (so I can see if I have to get up through the night) back on.  Lots of pouring rain, thunder and lightning.  Seems to be clearing up now, so we should have a pretty good Derby Day, with a high of around 87 degrees.  But it will be a very warm and muggy day.

Happy Cinco De Mayo Day!!

And, Joe, thank you for taking care of breakfast this morning!  I will consider that my first birthday present of the day.  Yep,  I am now  60 years young.

Everyone have a very good morning, take care going to work, or whatever/wherever you'll be going/doing this morning.  See you all later.
