Well, I thought I would stop by the cafe for a beef pot pie and say hello to everyone.

Things are finally settling down to what I guess you could call our new normal. We now know which facility my Mom is going to move into, and I am waiting for a text from my brother to confirm a move in date. A sad yet relief filled time all at once. This last hospital stay seems to have taken a lot out of her, and I am curious to see how well she bounces back once she has around the clock attention.

I hope the news from Quentin continues to be positive.

It is still 70° at 7:15, and things should continue like this for the next several days. I pointed out to Mom yesterday that you can really see how much things have greened up just during the time she has been in hospital. For a hospital room, she actually has a very pretty view.

I guess that is all for now, everyone take care.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  A tad cool this morning here in Louisville, with temps in the mid to upper 50s; think our high today will be in the low to mid 70s.

Bruce, like Cannonball Jim said, we'll be continuing praying for your Mom and everyone else who is needing prayers right now.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is just about ready to be put on the warmer bar.

Guess I'll see everyone sometime around 4 or 5, whenever I get back from the doctor's office.  You all take care, have a good day and see you later.

Cooler here, but seems to be, we'll have a pretty nice day.

We're "struggling", but doing so forward....Can say it's not back, each day a bit of improvement.  We do have I U Health Care started here at home now....A blessing...!

Continue Prayers please.

And we offer our Prayer to all on here that have those special needs.

Hope all have a good day.

Must head to my Dermi Dr. as scheduled this morning soon.

Good Morning Railfans!

It's 51F and clear as we head up near 80F today.  Having a small bunny issue in our neighborhood and it's been hiding during the day under our shed so I put up some wire list night.  The shed sits on a concrete slab so it can't dig under.  Our neighbor to the east had a trap out but has small kids so he doesn't leave it out much and I think the bunny's home is under his porch.  Hoping we can catch it and take it over to the park rather then kill it but then again with the wire up the local fox might get a meal here soon too.  My thoughts for all those in need and wishing all a great day and week ahead...

Doctor appointment went well, although, since I'm no longer experiencing any pain in the left leg/knee, was kind of a wasted trip.  Doc did say that I had a little bit of water above the  left knee, and it is a little bit swollen, but nothing to worry about right now.  It is hard to believe, but come Sept. 17th, it will be 5 years  since I had my knee surgery.  How the time has flown.

For supper tonight, since we've been so very cool the past few days, I have made chili for supper, along with some vegetable beef soup and baked cornbread.  Only two kinds of chili:  mild and medium.  If anyone wants hot chili, there's plenty of tabasco sauce, picante sauce, and hot salsa that you can add to your bowl.

Heard on the weather report a few minutes ago, that we are to get down into the low to mid 40s by morning.  Just hope we don't have to turn the furnace up, to where it kicks on overnight.  Our temp today made it up to 71 or 72 degrees.

Quentin, I'm glad to hear that things are slowly getting better for you and Jean.  Yes, the prayers will continue for the two of you, and for everyone else here on the forums.

Everyone have a good evening, keep warm, if you're experiencing this coolness, and see you all in the morning.

A mother and daughter were very lucky tonight.  Their SUV went off the road at speed and hit a tree almost dead center.  Fortunately, it was a box elder, which promptly broke off at ground level, allowing the vehicle to proceed another 50-75 feet before skidding to a stop with part of the tree underneath it.

Had the tree been of a more substantial type (oak, maple, etc), we would have been faced with an extended extrication as we tried to find a way to get the badly injured occupants out of their vehicle.

As it was, mom has a possible broken ankle and daughter bumped her elbow.  Both were able to exit the vehicle under their own power before we arrived.

Lucky, lucky, lucky.

They were reportedly having a "spirited discussion."

In other news, a young lady discovered a couple of nights ago why the state passed a law against texting while driving.  As she texted, her vehicle drifted to the right off the road and into the guard cables (guard rail), removing the right front wheel in the process.  She skidded to a stop a few dozen feet further down the road.

Another 100' down the road and she would have missed the guide cables but would probably have gone off the road, possibly rolling the vehicle in the process.

Lucky, lucky, lucky.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  Sun is shining at 7:15 a.m., and temps range from 43 degrees in Southern Indiana to 49, 50 degrees here in Louisville.  Very cool this morning.  Think I'll head to the store after a bit and get the ingredients for Walt's chili for here at home tonight.

Quentin, glad to hear that things are beginning to improve for Jean.

Tree, hope mother & daughter learn their lesson about not having a heated discussion while in the car.  They are indeed very, very lucky!  As is the  girl who decided to text while driving.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages (including some hot chocolate) are fresh and ready to go.  And breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and if anyone has any ideas for lunch/supper, just let me know.

Good Morning Railfans!

It's 54F and clear heading for the low 80's but needed rain is scheduled to find it's way here on Friday.  We are now listed in Stage #1 Drought restrictions which is nothing but does show it's a bit dry around here too.

Well, the bunny came back into the yard yesterday and when the wife spooked us we ran straight for the shed where he hide often during the day.  Since they can see ahead the bunny did nit notice the chicken wire I put across to holes and *BANG* head first into it.  The wife said he bounce straight backwards about 1 -to- 2 feet and then panicked until he got out of the yard to find another safe spot.  Neither of the adult rabbits have been seen since the bunny showed up so I think either the local Fox or one of the Coyotes might have gotten them.  They do tend to keep the rabbit population is serious check and even though this baby bunny is cute it is starting to be a pest so it's own it's own to stay safe as I've block it's only safe spot in our yard from access now.

Coffee is on me today...

Well, other doctor visit this morning went okay.  Other than the fact that my appointment was for 11 a.m., and I didn't get called back/and seen by the doctor until after 2 p.m.  Kind of surprised that my bp was only 111/70.  Several new nurses/technicians in the office, and they are all (including doctor himself) getting used to a new computer system.  Saw him going up and down the hall with a tall cart with a laptop computer on top.  Don't have to go back to him until August, so maybe they'll all be used to the new system by then.

Menu for tonight:

1.  grilled chicken

2.  beef pot pies

3.  sloppy joes w/fries and garden salad

Hope you all have had a good day, have an even nicer evening, take care and see you all in the morning.

A beautiful day in the neighborhood - not a cloud in the sky, mild temps.

Got the lawn mowed.  Now it's time to head for town to pick up a couple of awards for the FD banquet tomorrow and some certificates from our state senator for the award recipients.

Mom's at the hospital for an outpatient procedure today.  She can go home afterwards, but needs some supervision.  I was looking at going out (she lives in Phoenix), but couldn't see spending the money when my sister lives right there.  The notice was a little short, too.  I'll check on her tonight.

Hello everyone.  Sorry about not making it in this morning; went back to bed after feeding the cats and giving them fresh water, and didn't wake up until about 9.  Decided to take my walk early, before I got into anything else here at home, or getting on the computer.  Started out with a sweat jacket on, and it wasn't long before I had to stop and take the jacket off, and ended up carrying it.  But I did enjoy the walk.

Mookie, it is a beautiful day.  Not much of a breeze here, which is why I had to stop and take off my jacket.  Was getting too warm.  Temp is supposed to get up to mid to upper 70s this afternoon.

Larry, hope everything goes well with your Mom's outpatient procedure today.  Adding her to my prayer list, and have just finished saying a little prayer for her.

Our Friday Fish Fry is now on the warmer bar.  All the regular list of fish, and the regular sides and dessert menus.

Everyone have a good afternoon, take care and see you all later.

Mom's procedure was cancelled until her blood gets a little healthier.  Piece and quiet for the weekend.

I think I've got everything ready for the FD banquet tomorrow.  One more admin detail to check and I'll be all set.

Still nice outside, if cool.  Not quite t-shirt weather, what with a bit of a breeze and all.

Can't keep up with stuff right now on here...But we are calling this a "3 steps forward" day....Yesterday too.

Have I U Home Health Care a couple times a week now, and that has been a blessing.

Beautiful day here....Low humidity, blue sky and of course sunshine.  And just great temps.  Just finished mowing, and did a bit of edging with my "Worx Trimer / Edger".  I got behind on that work.  Darn grass seems like if not attended to, it will grow right out over the driveway edge....Even roots.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Cannonball, hope you are enjoying your birthday!!

Here is our menu for tonight:

1.  New England boiled dinner (lobster, etc.) w/fresh bitg leaf spinach w/vinegrette dressing and skillet cornbread.  Plenty of butter sauce for the lobster, clams, etc.

2.  The following pizzas for anyone not wanting our New England fare:

      a.  cheese

      b.  Canadian bacon

      c.  Pepperoni/mushroom

      d.  supreme

      e.  ham & green pepper

      f.  Hawaiian

Spent a couple of hours over at St. George's Community Center this afternoon, coloring coffee filters ( to make flowers or butterflies) and spray painting plastic flower pots, getting ready for our Vacation Bible School, which starts June 4, and goes to June 8th.  We're meeting twice a week, working to get everything together (Wednesdays and Saturdays).  Hopefully, more volunteers will be showing up, to help get everything together!  So far, there is only one  man showing up to help.  We need more than him, for everything we need to do.

Anyhoo, everyone have a good evening, take care, and see you all in the morning.
