Good Sunday morning everyone.  Bruce, sorry to hear about your Mom having to go into a nursing home.  I know that is a hard decision to come to, for a parent's children.  You do what you have to, and carry on as best you can.

Johnny, will say a special prayer for you in Church this morning.  Also for Quentin and Jean, and Bruce.

Coffee and juice are freshly made this morning, as are the other morning beverages.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and see you all later on this afternoon (we will be visiting another Church this morning, and will be staying for lunch afterwards, so not sure what time I'll be home from Church).

....Well, we're on final day countdown for surgery for Jean.  Want to say thanks for so many remembering us in Prayers.

Have a niece from Meadville, Pa., visiting a son over in the D C area and she has to start home early, as our area in western Pennsylvania has Winter storm warnings out for later today....Terrible to have to be concerned of that this time of the year.  Here, I'm ready to do my 11th yard mowing as soon as I can get to it....

Prayers for all on this forum that have expressed incidents / sadness in their families.....etc.

I was just going to jump on real quick to note that I just woke up (0345), looked outside, and discovered that the snow was sticking - but that pales in comparison to what I've missed by not checking in for a couple of days.

Johnny and Q, my thoughts are with you.

Good Monday morning everyone.  Temps in the upper 30s, low 40s this morning here in Louisville.  Supposed to make it back up to 60 degrees today.  Believe our high yesterday was 57, possibly 58 degrees.  But it was very chilly and very breezy all day.  Hope the winds aren't quite as brisk today.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to  go.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Will be continuing to say prayers for Quentin & Jean this morning, and throughout the day.  Also for all of my friends/family here on the forums.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

Good Morning Railfans!

It's 52F and Sunny and heading up to 82F (Yuk!) as we get it with a brief heat wave; summer is getting here way to fast again.

Spent the weekend spackling, sanding, and painting and slowing putting the house back together.  Still have more rooms to finish but sadly I'm glad Monday is here so I can go to work and get some rest.

Back to my day job... Cowboy

Afternoon all.  Currently 63 degrees here in Louisville, but with gusting winds of 25 to 35 mph, certainly feels colder than that.

Here is our menu for the rest of the afternoon/evening:

1.  Beef pasta w/garden salad and homemade rolls Sarah made last night.

2.  Sloppy Joes w/garden salad and fries

3.  Beef brisket w/cabbage, creamed peas & carrots,  and homemade rolls

This is April, how come we're having March winds??  I'm even chilly, here in the house, especially in the bedroom, with a very good breeze coming through the slats on the air conditioner.  (Still haven't found one of those quilted ac covers to put over the front panel.)  Crocheted something, but it won't stay on, especially if one of the cats is around:  they like to jump up and catch their claws in it, and pull it down.  Oh well, May is almost upon us, hopefully we'll start warming up some.  Tonight, we're supposed to get down in the mid to upper 30s, have frost advisories out for tonight, for Southern Indiana and Kentucky.

Everyone have a good evening, and see you all in the morning.

.....After 4 hrs. of surgery, and appropriate recovery time to stablize...Jean was moved back in a recovery room in the same area she's been in.  Will continue to recover there in upcoming days....

All tubes were in yet, including breathing tube, but I was able to stand by her and relate a few words....They believe people actually can hear under these circumstances.  Breathing tube will probably be removed this evening...

Had wonderful Team to take care of this operation and wonderful nurses continue to monitor and take care of her.

Thanks to all who took time to pass along the good thoughts and Prayers.

So happy to hear that Jean has had her surgery and seems to be on her way to healing.  Made the day a little sunnier.

Tree - 88 here tomorrow....Whistling

Went to eat our lunch trackside.  They are moving rail and involving a lot of digging and Tonka toys and thermite welds and all while the railroad keeps running trains around all this.  The city is right in the middle of this, also, since they are moving a scrap yard and cleaning the soil to eventually have a parking garage.

All right in the middle of the lead in yard of the BNSF.  Sigh  Arenas shouldn't be right in the middle of a class one railroad AND Amtrak.  Not when we have a whole state of unused ground.  AARRGGHH!

But it makes great lunch hour sidewalk superintending.  Not much free entertainment any more!

Good Tuesday morning everyone.  At 5:48 a.m., we have temps in the low to mid 40s in our area, upper 30s to the north of us, in sections of Southern Indiana.  Supposed to make it up to about 65 or so this afternoon.

Quentin very happy to hear that Jean made it through surgery, and is receiving such great care!  I know it eases your mind.

Not sure what time I'll be back in this afternoon.  After I get through with Produce and the Bread/Pastry trucks, I'm staying over at the Center, to do more work on the re-alphabetizing of the card file.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is also ready and on the warmer bar.

Everyone have a terrific morning, take care and see you all sometime later this afternoon/early evening.

Updates later....

Recovery can be a bear, and all the more so as we advance in age.

Not sure if I related an incident here a few days ago.  A young Amish girl was apparently driving a farm implement (behind horses) and fell off.  We don't know for sure, but we think she was run over by one of the steel wheels.  Latest word is that she isn't doing well - much internal damage.

Called out for an illegal burn this morning.  Precipitation was graupel.  It's not hail, but it still hurts a little.  Hopefully the property owner will get a ticket from the conservation people for burning tires.

Been working at the PBS spring auction for the past few nights.  Usually I run a camera.  Tonight I was in front of it...

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  51 degrees here in Louisville this morning, at 5:52, going for a high of 75 around 4 p.m., when the rain is supposed to be on its way into the area.  And it looks like we'll be having periods of rain/tshowers for the next week.

Did manage to get a little bit more done on the file cards over at our Dare to Care office yesterday.  Took a lot longer, trying to get anything done, due to clients coming in for their food boxes, and new clients coming in for emergency food boxes

Produce did go well yesterday morning.  Truck showed up right at 8:20, when our head lady pulled up to the Center.  Pretty good timing.  On the truck yesterday:  milk, eggs, cabbage, little packs of mini carrots w/dip, potatoes, onions. The egg cartons were the 18 count size.  Not everyone got eggs or potatoes, because they only had 50 something for us, and we had 74 people yesterday.  As a matter of fact, we ran out of everything they brought us.

Coffee, juice and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Everyone have a very good morning, take care, and see you all later.

And Quentin, glad to hear that Jean is continuing to improve.

Good Morning Railfans!

Yep, we broke the Record High yesterday and we might see today's record fall as well.  After that things look to be cooling off a bit as we head into the weekend.

Positive thoughts to all in need...

Afternoon all.  Quentin, am  continuing saying daily prayers for you, Jean and Johnny.  Actually I always say daily prayers for everyone here on the forums, as well as other family, friends and acquaintances.  So I will add your friend's wife and family to the list.

Got out early this morning, visited a friend I haven't seen for months.  Come to find out, she was in the hospital for 4 days back in February, and I had not known that.  But she seems to be doing fine, now.

Here is our menu for the rest of the day:  Pennsylvania Dutch  Day:

Meats:

1.  Pork spareribs w/apples and squash

2.  Sauerbraten (German beef roast)

3.  Fried liver w/caramelized onions

Vegetables:

1.  Green beans w/ham

2.  Potato & bread filling

3.  Corn & lima bean succotash

4.  Candied sweet potatoes

5.  Buttered beets or pickled beets

Salads:

1.  Hot bacon dressing

2.  German potato salad

3.  Pickled cucumber salad

4.  Four bean salad

Desserts:

1.  Pies:  Lattice-top apple pie, Mincemeat pie, and strawberry rhubarb pie;

2.  Whoopie pies, lemon sponge pudding, apple dumplings

3.  Cakes:  Crumb cake, old fashioned pound cake and funnel cake

Hope you all enjoy, have a good afternoon, take care and see you all later.  Think I'm gonna take a book outside, sit on the glider and do some reading, before the rain comes in.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  Well, the rain and storms seem to be gone from our area.  They came in between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.  I'm not sure how bad/strong they were, as I slept through them.  When I went down sometime after 11 p.m., I was out like a light, and didn't know anything until after 6 this morning.

Coffee, orange juice and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar, along with some cold pizza, if anyone wants some for  their breakfast.

Quentin, glad to hear that Jean is continuing to improve.  I've always heard that the  3rd day after surgery is a patient's worse day, but glad it was a good day for Jean.

Everyone enjoy your morning, take care, and see you all later this afternoon.

91 to 72 today.  I wish the weather would settle down so I can put on summer sheets and go to summer clothes instead of sweater/no sweater/jacket/fan/....  then we could at least turn on the air!

Q - keep posting.  Sounds like Jean is making progress!

Checking to see if Sir C made it home ok.  Net was empty this morning.

Lady bird still has 5 eggs, but think there might be a hatching around May 1.  Dad even takes a turn or two at the "sitting".

Egyptian geese at Snell Loop have hatched 3 cuties.  Ducks are still nesting and rabbits are still doing their sprints.  Saw a deer stroll thru the background awhile back.  And a heron/egret fishes thru occasionally.

Netherlands train crossing still gets close scrutiny, but they do it visually a lot.  They run some kind of track checker/gauge engine usually during the nite.  Fun to watch the other side of the world.

Grocery (Ugh) day.  Most hated day of the week!

Good Morning Railfans!

It's 54F with a bit of clouds today and we should stay out of the 80's today which is nice.  I saw yesterday that Atlas RR is shutting down their forums for good so we might be seeing new members here in the coming days / weeks; please help me Welcome them.  If you have friends from there please given them a shout and have them come over here...

Still keeping Jean in my thoughts hoping for a Full/Quick recovery!!!!!!!
