......And that Master's site is a great place of beauty.  I would like to just walk {or ride}, around it when nothing is happening, and just take in the beauty.

Everything just looks perfect.  Noted how crisp the edge of the grass line where it meets the sand traps....Looks perfect....and all the rest of it just a lush of green beauty.

It must be some honor to win the Masters.

Good Monday morning everyone.  Yeah, Joe, that was a nice ending, although I only saw it in news highlights:  I was so disgusted, I changed channels.  And, as some say, as win is a win, even if it is just by one point.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Think I may try to take a walk later, don't know how far I'll actually walk.  Depends on how this right leg does.  We started out with temps in the low to mid 40s in our area, and supposed to get up to about 70 degrees today, with plenty of sunshine.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

I even watched the last round for awhile.  Some seemed to play a little like my minature golf game, but mostly it was a lot of skill involved.

We have, so far, 4 eggs in the kestrel nest in the Netherlands.  There were 5 last year, so we will see just how motivated Lady Bird is in egg-laying.  Will be about the end of April before we see the end products.

Snell Loop had a doe walk past the camera.  Lots of rabbit races there, too.

Early up to put out garbage, so nap in order.

Good Morning Railfans!

It's 46F heading up into the 70's today.  Saw reports of several fires breaking out again but they seem to got a handle on them quickly.  The winds and dry conditions just have things ready to burn and it looks like it will be that way all summer.  Not much on the Modeling / Railfan perspective for me right now but hope to get in sometime this summer...

.....Sunshine, breezy and in the 50's....Nice day, but the wind makes one feel some of the breeze to make it cooler.  Weather people indicate it will get to 65....It might.

Good Tuesday morning everyone.  Starting out with temps in the mid to upper 40s here in Louisville this morning.  And from the weather report I heard, temps aren't going to be getting much high than somewhere in the 50s today.

Well, I started the new heart/blood pressure medicine last night.  Also had to quit smoking, due to the new med.  So far, not showing any signs of any side effects:  no dizziness or lightheadedness or anything.  Of course, I'm doing what the information pamphlet said, and getting up slowly, not trying to go anywhere in a lightning rush.

Everyone have a very good morning, take care and see you all later.

Good Morning Railfans!

It's 42F right now heading towards 70's with a chance of Thunder Storms coming in so maybe rain, maybe lightning which could spark more fires.   Looks to be one of those years again...

                                                    Jim

I do believe that "Global Warming" is happening but most folks don't understand exactly what that means to Global vs. Local climates as some places will get Cooler and/or Wetter.  Certainly there is a natural Heating / Cooling patterns this old planet of ours has gone through before humans were here.  But (IMHO) I believe humans are adding a "spike" to this pattern that could prove to be very deadly in potentially 90 years given current climate models I have seen.

Many climate models shows that by around 2100 AD the middle of the planet will reach "overall" levels that will create massive crop / animal life failures that are needed to support human life.  Now will 100% of human life become extinct, can't say; but, we could see a massive life loss like Europe had just recently from a recent heat event.  Even if this is all 100% natural we are still talking about an extinction level heat events for humans potential coming in the youth of today's lifetime.

Today we have roughly 7B people, by 2100 AD there are some estimates of 14B.  Now make the middle 40% of the planet to warm for crops and raising of animals for human consumption which is were nearly 100% of our food is grown.  How do we feed 7B let alone the projected increase in population?  When you add in other issues from Methane being release from the Ice fields melting and the increased CO2 levels can make the North / South areas unlivable and we just might  squeeze ourselves out of the future making way for the next evolution of ??? to take over.

MAYBE, if we can limit that "spike" and thus lessen the "overall" impact then we just might live long enough to get to that next "Cooling" cycle without being knocked back to the stone-age.

Either way, here where I live the "overall" pattern of Warmer/Wetter Winters and Hotter/Dryer Summers is what is projected and so far coming true as we set more and more records.  The below chart shows what is being observed / projected for the US in the next few decades and there are many others that show basically the same thing.  Note Colorado and states around us as well as Mexico going "Purple" which is not a good thing as these extreme Heat Events are deadly.  Approximately 70,000 died in 2003 in Europe when an extreme Heat Event hit there and there was about a 20% crop failure in France during this event.  As we see more of these happening and at higher levels globally we just might be heading for the scrap yard...

Anyway, cup of coffee and some pie please...

......Not to be confused with the before posts...But I just looked at our electric consumption data available on the computer here this morning.

Last March, our avg. temp here in central Indiana was 41 degrees.

This March, {2012}, avg. temp was 60 degrees.....That's a bit of a move between one year.  I realize this is not showing a "trend", just the difference between two years.

In my opinion though, weather patterns certainly are swinging ever in larger extremes in the past decade.

And I realize some parts of the globe are effected with colder temps., and other parts, warmer temps. with these water temp. changes in our oceans.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  Waking up to temps in the mid to upper 30s here in Louisville this morning, going for a high in the low 50s, may make it to mid 50s.

Darren and Quentin, I believe we are  also going to be in for changes in our weather, due to global warming.  And we humans are the main factor.  We keep stripping the land of much needed vegetation to build buildings, and destroying the trees, grass, that we need.  Hate to say it, but it will/is our own fault.

Dropped in the Trackside Lounge on my way in, to say Congratulations to Brian Hanel, on the birth of his first grandchild.  I know they are very happy.

Coffee is ready, as are juices and other morning beverages.  And breakfast is on the warmer bar.

Everyone have a very good morning, and take care.  Guess I'd better get to the grocery store later this morning, so we have some food around the house.  The freezer is looking pretty bare right now.

Good Morning Railfans!!!

It's a gray and foggy this morning and they say we might see some wet stuff this weekend.  Right now for that is mostly good news as long as we don't get too much to fast.  I'm sure some of you like Jeff would love to send it our way and we will be glad to accept it.  Stage 2 of our Window (not widow Embarrassed) replacement project should start Monday so hopefully our house will start getting back together later next week

Good Thursday morning everyone.  Joe, thanks for taking care of breakfast.  I really do appreciate your help around here, along with the others who give a helping hand.

Yesterday was a very chilly day around here.  I had to take a bus trip out to my old neighborhood, to go to a visitation at a funeral home.  Wore long sleeves, but forgot to pick up a jacket, so I ended up being on the very chilly side.  One of my nieces gave me her sweat jacket to wear home, because I was actually shivering.  That was around 5 p.m., while I was waiting for the bus to come back home.  Oh well,  I'll remember next time to go ahead and take a jacket with me.

I have lunch going in the Crock Pot and Slow Cooker:  Pork chop abracadbra w/potatoes, carrots & onion, along with some other mild spices.  It will be ready by lunchtime, in case I'm not back from the grocery (yep, you've got it, absolutely need to get to the grocery this morning) to get some food in the house.

Everyone take care, have a good morning ,and see you all later.

A little damp this morning, but no snow, although it's about cold enough for it.  Maybe things will finally start to warm up again.

Naval battles are an interest of mine, as well - there have been some doozies in the modern era.

There's a movie about the sinking of the Bismark.  Romantic and dramatic sub-plots not withstanding, it follows the timeline pretty well.

As fascinating as they are, however, they're like tornados - there's a toll to be paid.

The new digs look great - very spring-like.  We may have to put a large screen monitor so Mookie can track the birds, though...

Larry, you are, I am thinking, of the movie Sink the Bismarck, which is, to me, an excellent dramatization of the effort. Have you read C. S. Forester's book with the same title? It is even more fascinating to me than his Hornblower novels, which give the saga of an orphaned midshipman who rises to the rank of rear admiral during and soon after the Napoleonic wars.

Lion:

(1) Rumor has it that it will be snow Saturday night into Sunday. Will be heading to the Nebrasky border to cover the asparagus barrier.

(2) Last night's T-storm had two scotties crawling on top of me at 2AM and perching on the pillows and my head. (We don't get that many night-time T-storms)

(3) The tragic stupid people stunt at 47th and York shrunk to a new low with the local politicians using the sad affair as a photo op. (person lost their legs crawling under a train entering Pullman Yard)...OLI is down there today with a public service campaign handing out flyers in spanish and english. One of the most risky crossing areas in the state.

Sir C - Don't bring da Boyz to Newbrasskey - all our storms seem to be @ nite.

I will have the aspragus covered for you....Mischief  Maybe with a sheet of ice?  Hmmm????

We had one of those crossings here - a local high school boy lost a leg doing the same thing.  The local big box grocery store not far from this neighborhood raised $$$$ to have a very nice overpass built over all the tracks in the area.  Solved the problem.  Maybe someone in the big city could do the same for you.  Less paper and speeches and more fund raising to fix the problem!!!!

Trains kind of quiet.  Found a complete KCS/KCSX grain sitting north and east of city.  Long nap time.  It will eventually head south to St Joe area, but thru most of the afternoon until we left the area, they were playing chess and napping!  No traffic that I could find in its way, so not sure why they were parked so long.

Cat nap before bed....  @

M C....Considering the kind of Winter and Spring we've had and are in....one would think the snow has given up and left...

Not  completely so.  My home State of Pennsylvania had snow on the ground yesterday my sis in law related to me.  Didn't last long, but it did have the ground white overnight.

Nothing like that here in our neck of the {mid west}.....{Jen}....It was 33 this morning though when I first looked, but warmed to 59 this afternoon and a full day of sunshine.  Now we have some possible rain in the next several days forecast.....Can use some too.

And, we're to be warmer the next 4 or 5...

Being at just 937' elevation does help in comparison with the high country of Co....concerning ability to snow.

Good Friday morning everyone.  Not too bad here in Louisville this morning:  temp is around 44 degrees, should see a high in the low 70s range later this afternoon.  Did finally make it to the grocery yesterday.  Think the  food situation should be pretty good now, although there may be 2 or 3 things I'll need to go back and get; you know how it is, you'll think of something you forgot, that is well needed, and think  "Why didn't I have that on the list??"

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the warmer bar this morning:  doughnuts (chocolate covered, chocolate covered cream filled doughnuts & long johns, cake, yeast, danish (raspberry, cherry, peach, apple, pineapple), muffins, bagels and bear claws, along with some bacon, sausage, eggs, and toast.

No snow here in the Louisville area.  Although, with the Ky. Derby festivities soon to be started, we'll probably be getting rain and or snow.  Think Thunder over Louisville  is next Saturday, so guess we'll need to be on the lookout for at least rain and some chilly temperatures.

Everyone have a very good morning, take care and talk with you later.

Had a few short downpours again during the night and they are still saying maybe turning to snow by the weekend.  Went from a overly dry March to a wet April so far...

Someone is going to get wet between now and Monday.  Interesting weather coming together.  Snow from Colorado in western NE a very good possibility.  Not sure what we will end up with, but bad weather definitely all around us.

Q - looks like you may get wet soon.

Hello everyone, and good evening to all.  Justin, glad to see you could make it in here earlier.  Nice to see you come by.

Mookie, speaking of munch munch, I've got the Friday Fish Fry  menu on the warmer bar:

FISH:  Bass, cod, catfish, flounder, haddock, halibut, perch, salmon patties, Tilapia and shrimp (jumbo shrimp and popcorn shrimp).

SIDE DISHES:  baked beans, corn on the cob, cole slaw, tossed salad, mac & cheese, fries, breaded fried mushrooms,

DESSERTS:  Pies (pecan, apple and blueberry), Cobblers (peach, strawberry/rhubard, and cherry), Cakes:  (chocolate w/white icing, yellow w/chocolate icing, yellow w/caramel icing.

Hope everyone has had a good day.  Think we might have made it to 69 degrees today (haven't caught the weather report for current/and or high temp for today).  Everyone have a good evening, enjoy, and see you all in the a.m. tomorrow.

Didn't get a walk in today, as I was wading through emails.  Had to go in and do some maintenance (like changing password), hoping to get rid of these emails that are being "sent" by me to people in my address book;  And the things that are being sent, I have not sent anyone, friend or foe.  Hopefully I won't have anymore notices in my inbox that something I've sent to someone could not be delivered, or has an error message of some kind.
