Good morning!

Hope all is well here. Southwest Wyoming has been Really warm (65 degrees on Saturday) then just freezing cold and snowy since. I caught UP 2002 in Rock Springs yesterday, (it appears to have been attached to the local switch job here.) It was just parked on the team track by itself.

Also, I am a reader of a comic called XKCD. It is full of science and sarcasam... and it's just downright awesome! Here is a train related one (Even if it is model trains) that you all might find funny......

Hope you liked that one....

Have a great day everyone!!

Not familiar with that comic, would like too. Reminds me of things I'd like to say about getting more room for my "O" Scale layout.

RJ, can you send the web address for that one to me?!

About 60 degrees here and very windy again, guess CW will pop back in when she gets back from grocery shopping. (for us, not the Cafe!)(well, maybe a bit of both.)

miniwyo.........Have never seen that before.....Wild / different.

Just came in from getting my yard mowed {finally...!}, first time this season.  It needed it, but today it was just 48 degrees and some wind, and after an hour with just a light sweat shirt and Summer hat...{for warmth}, it got a bit cold...Feels much better here, setting behind the computer.

Did another {helpful} move this morning....Went back to our dentist to have some grinding / adjustment on the temp. molar crown that was installed on a new root canal last week....Needed some grinding to overcome some cheek pinching....and rough spots removed on the tongue side of it.....Now, much better.

Now, I'm ordering warmer weather for tomorrow....More sunshine too.

Quentin, I agree on the forum speed in the afternoon/evening hours.  Also agree with you on the weather.  Our current temp is somewhere in the mid 50s, but with the breeze, it still feels cold at times out.

Did get a little bit of food for both our home and the Cafe this afternoon.  Some chicken, steak, White Castles, some cans of mixed vegetables, mushrooms, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, ground beef.

I've got our regular Tuesday Night Mexican Fiesta of burritos, tacos, etc., ready and on the serving station.  Hope you all enjoy.

Would love to take a nap, but it is a little late in the day.  Almost supper time here at home (in about an hour, hour and a half), and still need to do both sets of my exercises (back and hip) for the day.

Tuesday Produce went well this morning.  We only had 50 people, but they were all good people, not jumping into the line before their names were called, or trying to get more than their share of any of the produce.  We did have some who were not there for produce, who showed up for the bread/pastry truck.

Guess that is about all the news I have for today.  Everyone have a good evening, take care, and see you all in the morning.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  Well, we have a current temp of about 48, 47 degrees w/sunshine.  Supposed to get up to 71 today, but will be very windy all day.

Everything is cleaned up from last night, and the serving station has been totally cleaned up.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the serving station.

Walt tried to get in here last night, around 9, 9:30, and could never get in the door.  He finally gave up, and just shut the computer down for the night.  I know Kalmbach is working on the problems, but how about getting them fixed as soon as you guys/gals can?!?!  Before everyone on the trains forums decide they've had enough and leave permanently.

....Yes, it seems to be going down hill...fast.  Even this morning, it seemed quite slow to get in here.

Overcast here in Muncie, but in the mid 40's...To get to low 50's today.  Anyway, we're on the way now....First yard mowing behind us.

Just checked over on the Roanoke Cam and an empty coal train headed west, and lots of sunshine.  Little trees on this side of the street now getting green.

Well....wishing good luck / work to those trying to "fix" this web site back up to good order soon....Have a big network of nice folks on here, and as this continues to go down hill, they will start to go other places....

Walt,

The website for that comic is www.XKCD.com

I have literally spent HOURS at a time on there. I've fallen behind on keeping up on the most recent ones.

I finally have a calm somewhat warm day (34 degrees) that I can use to begin working in the yard and my garage which is unheated. I am beginning to think that my 4 or 5 days off at a time is nowhere near long enough.....

Hi everyone. We missed swinging by Louisville on our trip to Florida via Bristol TN. The NASCAR race is REALLY noisy. We used earplugs and our headphones to manage the noise level. Returning home through Murfreesboro TN the RR lights started flashing as I turned out onto the street from a gas station. As I approached the crossing, a small pickup was coming fast in my mirror. He swerved around me probably going 60 or 70 mph. We really thought he was going to hit the locomotive. It was a short CSX freight. As it cleared, we saw the guy still sitting at the red light just past the crossing. The weather was great every day. We got home Sunday just in time for an 82 degree day.  We saw lots of trains on this trip.

Thanks R.J. I'll have to pull that one up later.

We have temps in the 70s today, but it's very Windy!!  I had to go out on the bike and get a new rear tire and am quite tired from fighting the "Headwind" coming home.

Hmmmm, I knew we were missing somebody this last week; Bob, you guys need to "Toot Your Horn" a bit louder when you bypass Louisville. Hope all went well for you all.

Ahhh!  I see we are back up and running (earlier this afternoon, I tried to get in to post the lunch and supper menu, but got the prompt saying "Down for maintenance").

So, here is the menu for tonight:

1.  broiled steaks w/baked taters, brussels sprouts w/cheese sauce and dinner rolls

2.  Italian spaghetti w/meatballs, brussels sprouts w/cheese sauce, garden salad and bread sticks

Thinking we just might go out to eat tonight, since it has been a long time since the three of us have gone out to eat.  Planning on going to The Spaghetti Factory.  I've been there once, many years ago, but the other two in the household have never been there.

Everyone enjoy your evening, and I'll see you all sometime tomorrow afternoon; probably won't make it in tomorrow, since I'll be getting ready to go to physical therapy.

I will take a heaping helping of #1.  Thanks for dinner.

Last time we had s'ketti Aedan ended up wearing most of it.  Shortly thereafter the dogs got a big buffet of what was left.

Should be a nice and relatively easy remainder of the week.  Saturday should, if the weather holds, be a nice long day trackside day for me.

Last out, first in I see.

Steak & eggs are the order of the day...and are ready.  Lighter fare (in the usual places) also for those not interested in the heavy stuff.

Short day on tap today - but have some "get ahead" work to do around the house to keep my Friday PM and Saturday railfanning plans viable.

Off to the races for now...

Well, I guess CW was in a hurry to get to Physical Therapy today and didn't make breakfast. Guess all the stuff is on the warmer bars and coffee and juices are out.

(Dan, did you turn on the coffee pot when you came in?)

Temps here are supposed to be in the high 70s, approaching 80 today....wind not quite as gusty as it's been.

And what is Loo-Vulle's Sketti Factory housed in? (Denver's is in the Car Barn for the former Denver Street Cable Railway) Many are in former railway depots and related old buildings.

Disconcerting here that a major range fire has destroyed about 16 miles of railroad in SW Kansas on Sunday, cut a 245 mile long railroad into three pieces with 100+ miles now embargoed due to bridge damage (as is in multiple bridges gone) and not a word in the newswire. (they were prominently featured in Trains not long ago) Somebody please rush a tankcar full of strong coffee to Kalmbach!!!!Angry

Good afternoon folks.  Yep, had to rush to get ready for physical therapy this morning, so did not make it in here.  Dan and Walt, thank you both for taking care of things here this morning!  I really, really appreciate it, guys!!!!!!Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Mudchicken, I'll do some research and see what I can find out about that building.  When you and Boss Hen came to Louisville several years ago, you more than likely went right by the building.  It's located right on the corner of 1st and Market Streets.

Been a busy, busy day for me.  As one old saying goes, I've been 'rippin' & runnin' all day, trying to get things done.

For supper tonight:

leftover Italian spaghetti from last night (it looks like there's plenty left for tonight), along with bread sticks and garden salad

more grilled steaks w/baked potato, garden salad, steak fries and broccoli w/butter sauce

Hope everyone has had a very good day, and see you all either later tonight or in the morning.  Take care and keep safe!!

Well, it still looks like Kalmbach needs to do something with their "server", etc. It took me almost an hour to get this far.

(I'm thinking they need something "MUCH STRONGER " than "Strong Coffee"!)

Mudchicken, I did a research on the "Old Spaghetti Factory" building, and right now without going into to over time, it's an "old Building"; if you go about a block north to Main St., you'll find an old L & N Building, think it was their first headquarters building here in the city.

(there is a replica of a Trolly Car in the building.)

Good Friday morning everyone.  Running a bit late this morning, as I decided to go back to sleep when the alarm went off this morning.  I can't remember what our current temp is exactly, but it is nice and comfortable outside.  Supposed to get up into the upper 70s, and have a possibility of some showers/t-storms around mid afternoon.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  an assortment of doughnuts, danish, bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, pork sausage, eggs, biscuits & gravy.

Hope you all have a very good morning, and I'll see you all later.

Well, at 12:22, we still have sunshine, and it is a bit breezy.  Rain should be here in about a couple of hours.

Our Friday Fish Fry is now on the serving station:

Fish:  Cod, catfish, bass, flounder, halibut, haddock, bluegill, salmon patties, shrimp, clams, oysters

Side Dishes:  Baked beans, cole slaw, corn on the cob, fries, hush puppies, breaded deep fried mushrooms, cornbread, greens

Desserts:  Chocolate cake, yellow cake w/caramel icing, pecan pie, Cobblers:  apple, blueberry, cherry and peach

Hope you all have a very good afternoon, and hope most can stay dry!   Take care.

Send the rain here please. Tree's fellow firefighters are getting frazzled before normal fire season even starts!

El Gato has left chocolate paw prints all over the place. DD&CS now means with Deaf, Dumb and Certainly Stupid Mischief with some of the things I'm dealing with here. (Developers & Engineers- argh!)

I see Kalmbach is still working on the turbocharger installs......

Had a short loop down to eastern Tennessee this week, just got back from Janesville, WI, and at the house right now for the night, have to drop off a Gator in Wauconda, IL, tomorrow morning, then down to western Kentucky for Monday.  Should be interesting Sunday night, as I should be right in the crosshairs for possible severe weather.

I must remember to give our recipe for tuna fish casserole to Paula and the Diner, just had that for dinner.  Well, time to catch up on my mail for the past week (True to form, my MR and Trains came the day I left), then to bed.

See everyone later.....

Good Saturday morning everyone.  Joe, thanks for fixing breakfast this morning!  I've been up, but when I booted up the computer this morning, it decided to run the virus scans, so couldn't do anything but wait a bit, before I could get online.  That's all right, I'd rather wait for that to run, than get another rotten virus on the computer!!

We have a chance of some rain showers/thunderstorms this morning.  When I stepped out on the porch to get the paper, I could smell rain in the air.  But so far, nothing is happening.

Everyone have a good day, try to dodge the raindrops, and I'll see you back in here later on for our pizza fest.

Take care.
