0400 Netherlands time - some sort of trackwork going on around the crossing.  Not enough light to see what kind of machine it is or what they're actually doing.  They keep tripping the crossing protection.

....Just checked that machine doing some kind of track work at the crossing in NL.  It was just finishing, as it came to the crossing and got the cross bucks to go up, and then it pulled out and went down the street to the left.

It appeared to be {at least}, a back hoe type of unit and believe it was on 4 pretty good sized rubber tires.  When it was coming back towards the cam, a light was shining right at the camera.  But he just took off, must have finished what he was doing.  10:58 pm our time...ET

CW, thought I would drop by for a late pizza. I just finished watching today's second Curling game on the DVR.

I was out for supper and everyone was pleased to see that today was the first real good day of melting in 2011. If we can maintain this pace, winter should finally be coming to an end soon.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

Good Sunday morning everyone.  I hope you all remembered to set your clocks forward one hour, and, if necessary, changed your smoke alarm batteries.

Partly cloudy and 44 degrees here in Louisville this morning at 6:51 a.m.  Supposed to be a bit cooler today, with a high of only 55.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  blueberry muffins, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, scrambled eggs, toast, cereal, and some fresh fruits (mandarin oranges, oranges, tangerines, kiwi, papaya, pineapple.

Everyone enjoy your Sunday morning, whether you're going to work (or coming home from work), going to Church or railfanning.  See you all later this afternoon.

......Overcast skies here this morning.  Seasonal temps.  Which is not bad.

4 of our time pieces did their own changing, including my watch, but of course that leaves quite a few others to change.  The one that surprised me was this computer....i had to click on the time down in lower right corner and bring up the "clock", and set it one hour ahead.  I thought that was automatic, but perhaps I'm remembering that wrong.

Now several in vehicles to change yet and we're pretty well set.  I was watching TV late last night, and kept a close eye on my watch at midnight, and about 7 min. after midnight, the minute hand made a full revolution to set an hour ahead, hence to EDT.

Good afternoon everyone. We have a beautiful day here in the foothills of the blue Canadian Rockies. The snow is melting, water is running, wildlife out and running around. 46°F currently.

Have all but one clock reset. I seem to have forgot how to reset the clock on my microwave though. I must be having an almost "Senior Moment" (wait, do they have those in the US? Canadians know what I mean because of a TV commercial aired years ago). I am now down to one analog clock, a 33 year Seiko watch on my wrist. The accuracy of this watch always seems to depend on the condition of the replacement battery I buy, and I must have a good one this time. I can set the second hand on this model, and it seems it had only lost about 7 seconds since we fell back last fall.

The final of the Curling Championship starts in an hour and 25 minutes, and three and a half hours after that I should be able to resume my normal life.

Talk to you folks soon.

Bruce...I have an analog Seiko that I believe I purchased back about 1975.....It's been a good one.  I'm kind of a clock / watch freak.   From Regulator clocks to radio controlled clocks and a watch.  So the Seiko has had a couple years rest as the current one being worn is a radio controlled watch.

I think I have all the clocks here set {but one}, and that's in the car, and it's not been driven yesterday or today.

Good to hear your weather has warmed up a bit.

radio controlled clocks

Quentin, I have never gotten one of those things to work. We are within the recommended distance of the atomic clock at Fort Collins, CO but for some reason I can't get one to work. I don't know if it is the construction of my apartment building or not, but I don't think so. I had one that I left with my mother at her suburban wood frame house and it didn't work there either. Other people around here seem to have them, but I have had no luck at all.

Joe, how did your team do?  Our Kentucky Wildcats won the SEC Championship this afternoon.  After that game, I took a nap.

Here is our Sunday Dinner menu:

1.  Grilled steaks w/your choice of steak fries or baked tater, sauteed mushrooms & onion, and garden salad

2.  Beef pasta, broccoli w/cheese sauce, Italian bread and garden salad

I hope everyone has had a very good afternoon, and also wish you a good evening.  Take care, and see you tomorrow.

Quentin, I wonder: is the brain in our computer pre-last dictate on the time change? If so, it may change the time on you when, according to it, the proper day arrives.

I have changed all but two of our clocks (and Ricki's watch, which she hardly ever wears now now). I remembered to change the clock in the car just before we left church today (it's easy to change to stupid time; it takes much longer to change back to intelligent time).

Spring time weather here, but the breeze was really cool.

Cell phone and cable box changed by themselves, as did the computer.  Analog clocks will be easy, I just haven't done them yet.  Need new batteries in the VCR remote control so I can change that.

The toughest nut to crack will be the new belt watch.  It has an analog dial, but also a digital display.  I'll have to find the instructions so I can remember which buttons to push to change that.

We had our annual FD "St Patrick's" chicken barbeque today.  It went pretty well.  We moved all of the chicken (600 halves), although some went at 'clearance' prices at the very end.

I'm pooped.

Bruce, that does sound strange....I've never had any problem keeping any of mine working.  I'd say we're roughly 1,500 mi. from Ft. Collins.  I remember a time or two my wrist watch would give me a signal of a weak signal back in our home area of Pennsylvania.  But of course the watch continues to operate anyway.  When you have a satisfactory signal to the clock / watch you have, they are absolutely accurate to the second.  I don't even have to change the battery in my watch {at least for many years}, as the face of it has photovoltaic cells that keeps the battery charged at all times.  From any light sourse.

Well, I got the clock reset on the microwave. During a commercial break I went to get a refill of coffee, and as I walked past the microwave I looked over and there was the "CLOCK" button that wasn't there earlier.Laugh I reset the clock and got back with my coffee before the game resumed.

Definitely a diagnosis of "Senior Moment", doctor.

I really enjoyed tonight's game. It is a pleasure to watch teams of trained professionals preform expertly, whether it is in sports or work.

Have a good evening.

Good Monday morning everyone.  Well, we have 40 degrees and light rain this morning.  Our high today:  45 degrees, so we're not going to warm up much today.

My internal clock is trying to adjust to this stupid, idiotic daylight saving time bull.  (Keeping my language clean.)  My alarm went at at 4:50, but I got up, turned it off, and went back to sleep.  The next thing I knew, Trapper was on my head, telling me to wake up and get up.  That was at 6.45.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the serving station.

I've put on a pot of vegetable beef soup and a pot of navy bean soup for lunch and dinner/supper .  After a bit, I'll be putting some cornbread in the oven to bake to have with the soups.

Going to get motivated to start on laundry here in a little bit.  You all take care and have a good morning.

....Monday is starting here since daylight, with the sun peeking thru a thin layer of clouds.  Temps in low 30's now.  Heard them say we'd be in the 70's later in the week.  Now that's certainly making a change.  But we know that's not sustainable yet this early in the season.  But we're working our way to real Spring...for sure.

So many of the yards in the neighborhood have large areas of brown spots after in general, about 2 months of snow cover.  Sure hope they pull out of that when the real growing season starts.  Mine included, and I pay attention to try to have a nice yard.

Good Afternoon. Melting is going well again today. 45°F currently. Still no forecast high's in the fifties yet on the seven day forecast. The sun is still riding too low in the sky here to get those kind of temperatures without the help of a Chinook wind.

No news to report on the RR front.

Good Tuesday morning everyone.  40 degrees w/light rain falling. The guessers are saying we may even hear some rumbles of thunder and see lightning later today.  I believe they said our high wouldn't be much more  than about 44, 45 degrees, so another day of the temp not improving much.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And breakfast is on the serving station.

Everyone have a very good morning, keeping dry, if you're getting the rain, and I'll see you all sometime this afternoon.  Wonder how many we have at Produce this morning.

A balmy 20 here right now, but the sun is shining bright, and should continue that way all day.

All of the syrupers have their buckets or tubing out - time to start boiling!  Kinda nice to be able to go right up the road and get real maple syrup.

Plenty to do (although that digging in the ground project will have to wait a few more weeks).  Better get to it!

Afternoon everyone. Well, we did make it to 50° yesterday, but it took a 39 mph wind to do it. I was out before the big blow started and it was rather pleasant. Not so much later in the day. Right now we are at 43° with a South wind at 11 mph.

Nothing against Joe's methods, but I could probably do just as well counting the birds on the feeder at various times and coming up with some algorithm by which to compute winners and losers....

All it takes is one "Cinderella" to upset the apple cart.

Might be time to replace the batteries in the remote sender for the weather station.  Right now the temperature is "--"...

It's about 40, though.

Our current temp is 48 degrees, but spitting rain and chilly out.  I think we managed to get up to 50 degrees today, even with the drizzles after the morning showers.  Thunder showers never did come our way.

Our Tuesday Produce Truck came early, early this morning:  about 8:38.  Not much on the truck, just potatoes, oranges, the big bags of chopped romaine lettuce and little jars of pimento cheese spread. So it didn't take too long, after they got enough bags made up, to get through the 29 people who had signed up for the produce this morning.

For supper tonight, we have our regular Mexican Fiesta :

Burritos, tacos, Spanish rice, chimichangas, fajitas, enchiladas, quesadillas, mesquite-grilled chicken ***, sour cream chicken enchiladas and smoked cheddar bacon burgers.

I hope everyone has had a very good day, and will have a very good evening.  You all take care, and see you tomorrow.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  Gee, no one at all was in here last night?  Shame, shame.

Cloudy and 42 degrees this morning, going for a high of 60 today.   Clouds are to be disappearing, and we're to have a very sunshiny day.  That will make going back to Therapy nice:  nice for whenever I get out of there.

Coffee, juices, milk (regular, chocolate and strawberry) are all fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the serving station:  bagels, bear claws, bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits, gravy, etc.

I'm sure one of you can take over for me, for lunch this afternoon.  I'd ask Mookie, but she seems to be MIA, along with several others of you.  Maybe you all want the cook to become MIA?

Everyone have a good morning, and hopefully I'll see you all later.
