When I had my cataract surgery in 2003, I had a "shiner" for about 2 weeks after. (I don't think they charged any extra for, but.........)(both eyes, a week a part.)
Mook, when you use the steam iron for the grilled cheese, you DON'T use the steam/spray setting!!
Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!
Grilled cheeze sandwich, tomato soup and chocolate milk, please....
(I make a horrible grilled cheese. Don't know where I go wrong. Maybe I don't set the steam iron high enough?)
Driver had 2nd cataract surgery yesterday. Sporting a big shiner today. Wonder if they charge extra for that?
Had to go to eye dr today to get his patch off. I went next door and did some glasses shopping for me. Picked out my own frames, tried them on, approved, did everything but write up the order. Told them I would be back next Fri for eye appt for Driver next door and would pick them up then. Don't call me - I will call on you!
All this because a cute salesfemale got there at the same time I did and the two technicians were having trouble concentrating on the customers. But having done this many times in the past many years, I guided them thru my visit. Sure glad I am not getting bi-focals any more. Probably would have found them planted in the upper part of the lenses.....

Here is our Friday Fish Fry menu, shortened, since it is so late:
Fish sandwiches w/regular or curly fries and your choice of slaw or salad.
Everyone have a good evening, take care and I'll see you all in the morning.
Not sure what our temp. high got to today, but at the 5:00 O'clock newscast they mentioned we had had sleet in our area.
I guess CW will be in after awhile to do the "Friday Fish Fry", but I have to put in my "Two Cents"; I saw in our paper yesterday, in the obit section that one of the founders of the Fire Dept. that I served on in the late 70s and thru the 80s passed away; he was 98. When I was there, and served on the Board of Trustees, he was a member; and one of us would ask him about the early days of the F.D.; his answer was; we ain't having no more D***** Fish Fries!!
Not much better south of you, Larry, 41 and rain in Binghamton, no load available yet, so busying myself on the Wi-Fi at the Pilot-turned-Loves truckstop. Was wet coming up yesterday out of Virginia as well, but not too bad to drive in.
Managed to catch a southbound Susquehanna train yesterday, and NS was busy in Eden, NC the day before, will have to see what today brings, hopefully will get a load soon......
See everyone later....

....Well it sounds like it is pretty nice here compared to some other reports. And since I can get out now, I headed nearby to get a haircut.
Partly sunny, and earlier, I believe it was 37. No precip here overnight, and snow flurries are in the forecast for someplace.....scattered....But then it's 4 or 5 days of sunshine again. Getting up near 60 at times.
Hopefully, I'll be able to finally get the tractor out and mow and mulch in the next day or so.
But I'm certainly not complaining about our weather around here yet this Fall....
Believe I memtioned before, last season, our first evidence of any snow was on Dec. 7th. Be nice if it holds off at least that long this year.
The last Winter season snow fall total was a bit above normal: 32.5".

The High in Louisville is "forecast" to be 48 degrees, right now it's 45 with a "wind chill", one of my most unfavorite sayings...................Soup & Broccoli sound real good, you can keep the cheddar though, please.
CW and I were going through the "Farmer's Almanac" earlier; after our extra hot summer, looks like we're in for a cold, nasty winter.
Tom, hope your "Quack" visit goes well.
Thirty-eight and rainy, with snow indicated over Tug Hill. Comes pretty close to what I define as "miserable." All we lack is wind...
Soup is good for this kind of weather. I'll get a couple of crocks going. Maybe some chicken veggie, some tomato (to go along with the grilled cheese sandwiches), and some broccoli and cheddar.

Mornin all. 42 and clear in paradise with a high suggested at 56. Today is quack day and I have to have me foot checked by the surgeon. Looks to be a nice day weatherwise.
Everyone take care

BRRRRRRR.......IT'S COLD HERE!!!! TIME TO BREAK OUT THE HOT CHOCOLATE!!!!!
We have 22 degrees here in Sioux Falls, but at least it is not snowing here.
Good Friday morning, and Joe, thanks for taking care of breakfast! It's always nice to come in, and see someone has helped me out around here in some way!
We have had some rain overnight, and the current temp is around 43, 42 degrees here in Louisville. But with the wind chill, it feels like 30 something outside. So far this morning, I haven't seen any snow flurries.
Everyone have a good morning, and I'll see you all later. And Joe, the hot chocolate sounds real good this morning!!
good friday morning
Breakfast is up and ready. Juice and coffee and hot chocolate are ready too.Going to get Matt up and ready for school. We will pick him up after school and go wish Grandpa Kohnen a happy birthday tonight. Will see what csx and ns has on our way.

Well, I haven't been across the Equator yet.
I know Politics are not supposed to be done here, but I have to share this one. From today's Progressive Railroading online version; the "Tea Party",et. al. wants to give you a "One Way Ticket to Donner Pass"..............Hmmmmmm?!

Good afternoon all. It looks like it has been very s l o o o w in here this morning.
Walt has picked today's menu. So, you'll see three large Crock Pots/Slow Cookers with the following in them:
1. Beef stew
2. Vegetable beef soup
3. Chili (made it mild, so if anyone wants spicy hot, tabasco sauce, and hot picante sauce and hot salsa are on the counter for you to add to your taste buds)
Everyone have a good afternoon, and see you all later.
Good morning and peace be with you. 57 and heavy rain in Carolina. expected to hit 57 so we are there. We are supposed to have a new storm door installed today, but I guess that's out. Looks like a good day for the wireless and/or napping.
Everyone have a great day
Good Thursday morning everyone. Cool, with a current temp of 46 degrees at 6:21 a.m. It's going to be a very cool and windy day, with a cold front coming in later this afternoon. Overnight and tomorrow, we may see some snow flurries, not supposed to be any accumulation, as the ground temp is too warm.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. On the serving station this morning: bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits & sausage gravy, and there's some cereal, if anyone just wants a bowl of cereal this morning.
I can tell that our weather is going to be changing: my left knee is letting me know this morning, it does not like the weather we're about to get. It is hurting like crazy.
Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.
mudchickenGeez Tree: hope some (at least 2) are scale mudchickens. Somebody gotta do the steering.
MC - I've got two packages of gandy dancers (12 workers). The only "person" who looks like a surveyor is in the road workers set, and we know where that can lead us...
Been working on a project for the fire station - new antenna for one of the radios and a weather station. Both have to go up on the 50' tower and I'm not climbing that. I'm not afraid of the height - I just don't think the tower would be up to it.
Fortunately, the town highway department has a man lift and they'll be in town with it in the next week or two, so we'll be able to get the stuff installed on the tower.
The antenna is done and tested (a "j-pole" - which looks like it'll work well and was easy to build out of copper pipe), and the weather station is "in the mail." Still have to work out the mounts for that.
Apple pie and some Whitey's ice cream (available in fine stores in the area)
My, we've had a busy day around the house today. Got the bills paid, and even went and did a little grocery shopping. Got a turkey, and it is in the freezer, waiting for Thanksgiving Day.
Here is our menu for tonight:
1. Your choice of T-bone or New York Strip steak
2. Pulled pork w/grilled shrimp
3. Country fried chicken
4. Sirloin beef tips
Here is the selection of side dishes:
1. Baked potato, Caesar salad, mashed taters, apple sauce, seasoned rice, green beans and steak fries
Desserts:
1. Apple pie
2. Strawberry cheese cake
3. Brownies
Everyone enjoy, have a good evening and take care.
Voting....Sure would have liked to, but still being careful and trying to recover from whatever nasty stuff that takes us down sometimes.
Top of the morning to ye. 51 and cloudy in Carolina with rain later. Paula, usually I'm in your boat, but somebody I voted for actually won yesterday. My cousin, Joe Wilson (you lie) held his congressional seat and his son, Alan Wilson is our new Attorney General. All told, at the state and federal level, the only Dem is Jim Clyburn. Even 16 termer John Spratt got beat.
Thanks for breakfast, and everyone have a great day
My home state has elected a new governor - a Republican, and we also have a new state representative, also a Republican.
I am going to have french toast and a few slices of bacon for breakfast this morning, but I have to wash dishes first. I've got a pound of ground beef in my fridge thawing out, and I am thinking about making a pot of chili with it.
I'm hoping the rest of you will all have a good day!
We don't know who is our next Illinois governor. And I am hungry this morning.
Good Wednesday morning everyone. Well, it looks like we have an opthalmologist as our State Senator this morning. I haven't totally looked at the winners list, but so far, not one person I voted for won yesterday. Oh well, better luck next time.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Mookie, here's your coffee mug! I think we'll just sit inside the Cafe, and sit by the window to watch our trains go by this morning. (With a head cold, I'm not particularly interested in being outside too much.)
On the serving station this morning: bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, toast, sausage gravy.
Guess in a couple of hours, I'll get the bills paid for this month, and see if I have anything left to get Walt's birthday present for Monday, other than his Trains Magazine subscription that I'll be renewing for him, that is.
Everyone have a good morning, and I'll be over in my rocker by the window.
morning
matt is delayed 2 hrs this morning due to ice fog.going to get to bed.lots to do this afternoon.thanks for breakfast.

(apropos would be the lights of the front buggy of a tamper/liner bearing down on a survey crew staking a curve on new track....(Darn! - plastic people don't clear the track like the real thing...oh well)
locomutt.Adrain, nice pics., hmm I thought you were in the Air Force, not Navy.
Of no particular importance -
One thing I almost always do when I attend train shows is buy "people." Just one package per show. While looking for something else today in the model railroad workshop, it occured to me to gather all of them together (they're still in their packages) and do a census.
The population of the area served by my model railroad is 431. That doesn't count the bears (5), stags (5), pesky raccoons (2), dogs (15), or cats (1). Or what I buy when I go to the Syracuse show this weekend.
It appears that horseshoes is a popular past-time in the area, though, as I have three packages of horseshoe players...
voting done.projects done.going to get Matt from his afterschool program.Nice job Adrian.Cw thanks for supper.Tommorow its to town to help finish things here.
GO ARMY!!!!
