Tom, ditto what Mookie said!  Holey Moley, that is a lot of moolah to spend!!

We currently have 68 degrees (what my homepage quotes as current temp), and I see some moisture out on the street, so guess it has been raining for awhile here.  I think our temp got up to 70, 71 degrees or so today.

Here is our Saturday Night Pizza Menu for tonight:

1.  Anchovie

2.  Canadian bacon

3.  Cheese

4.  Chicago style

5.  Goetta

6.  Hawaiian

7.  Italian sausage

8.  Pepperoni/mushroom

9.  Supreme

Desserts tonight:  chocolate cake w/chocolate icing and peach cobbler w/ice cream.

Hope everyone enjoys, have a good evening, and take care.

Quentin, haven't made it to the hospital yet. Still waiting on tests to come back, and still need xrays Monday. When or if I go in, it will be day surgery with likely one overnight. The urologist gave me some pain med called hydromorphone. Lemme tell ya, that is some primo stuff. Take one of them and things get real smooth, the basic pain is muted a lot and it's good night Irene for a few hours.

Propane man came and emptied my wallet and left. 250 gallons = $838.50. Great gookamooka, I like to have gone into apoplexy, the wife blew up and the girls barked about it. I can't do that too often.

.....Tom, you must have had just outpatient work at the hospital as I thought you might have been admitted for a day or two from what you had said.

Regarding your new heating system.....I'm assuming it's a heat pump.  Just a comment, we've been with electric heat now for 39 years, and in our home it has worked out just fine for us.

Ours is of the ceiling cable heat system which was very popular when we had this house built.  But in that amount of time, the only maintenance expense has been the replacement of thermostats in ea. room.

Heat pumps are in use somewhat in our climate here, but I think it's a bit too far north for them to be a great advantage here.  Down in your area, I'd think they would work fine.

Of course the disavantage of our system is no ducts for running A/C thru.  So window units are used, and I have that sized, and under control to the point it works quite well.  Window A/C's have been available for some time now with remote controll {and much quieter than some years ago}, and make for pretty convenient operation.

As for our weather. it is a nice morning.  i was just outside giving the wife a hand in cleaning a couple of windows.  Shorts and short sleeve shirt is the morning dress code.  Again, clear skies, and sunshine.

I see that big "comma" shaped weather front extending from Texas to the Canadian border, and including some heavy snow heading into the upper mid west {Wis. etc}, but will go over {north} of us.  We might see some rain later today, but now....all clear and sunny.  To be a bit cooler tomorrow, but sunshine again.

Looking forward to our Muncie "TheStarPress paper" tomorrow, as it's to have an extensive write up of the soon to come "Progressive Rail Inc." manufacturing in our former ABB massive size plant.

If all goes well, that should be a needed boast for our Muncie area.  We have lost much of our manufacturing companies in the last few decades, and all the incoming "new" will be refreshing.  Brevini Mfg. is, and has been preparing to get it's manufacturing of wind power generating wind mills gearboxes up and started.

The railroad spur has been approved to be built back into it from the nearby Frankfort NS line.  it is located a short distance west of Muncie along route 332 / I -69 Industrial Park....Believe it's called "Park One".  Just a few miles northwest of me.

Good Satuday, it's morning! Daylight, that is!  46 and clear in Carolina, lt's headed for the high 50's (I think).

It is a good thing I had the heating system changed out, cause we ran out of propane last night. Since we now heat with electricity, it was an inconvenience instead of a catastrophe.
The worst was that we have no hot water.

Thanks for breakfast, and everyone have a great day.

Looks like another sunny day here, and the closest weather appears to be around Chicago.  Nice fall days, and it even got almost to 60F here yesterday!

Plenty to do - been working on a new vest for the conductor's uniform and may get it mostly finished today.  Don't know that I'll have it ready for duty tomorrow, though, and I'm workin' on the railroad tomorrow.  Our version of a dinner train - we'll take you to the restaurant...

Breakfast is out of the way - now on to projects.

Good Saturday morning everyone.  Norris, just ask your wife to see her Rival Crock Pot recipe book! (That is, if she has one that is several years old.  I know it isn't in my new Crock Pot's recipe book; but it is in the recipe book from my first Crock Pot that Walt and I got as a wedding gift 23 1/2 years ago.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:

turkey bacon, pork sausage links & patties, scrambled eggs, fried taters, grits, toast, pancakes w/syrup, country fried steak and country fried pork chops.  (Don't worry Brian:  there's plenty of low/no cholesterol items as well.)

We're starting out at 6:42 with a temp of 48 degrees.  Going for a high in the low to mid 70s.  Everyone have a great morning, and I'll see you all later this afternoon/evening for our pizza fest.

The serving station has been cleared and cleaned up from the lunch menu, which looks like no one touched.  You will now find our regular Friday Fish Fry menu on the serving station:

Fish:  Cod, catfish, haddock, halibut, flounder, jumbo butterfly shrimp, crab cakes and salmon patties

Side Dishes:  baked beans, corn, cole slaw, mac & cheese, fries, hush puppies, baked cornbread, deep fried breaded mushrooms

Desserts:  Yellow cake w/caramel icing, chocolate cake w/chocolate icing, pecan pie, apple pie, blueberry, cherry and peach cobblers and ice cream

I hope at least two or three people are in this evening to enjoy this.  Everyone have a good evening and take care.

Well, it looks like we've been a little busy in here this morning!  I always like to see that!!  Mookie, hope you enjoyed your breakfast.  Joe, thanks for helping out this morning.  I'm surprised we didn't run into each other in the kitchen.

For lunch here in the Cafe, I've heated up the leftover chicken abracadbra, and the spaghetti from last night.  Later on this afternoon, I'll start the fish fry for tonight.

Everyone enjoy the afternoon and take care.

Nice birdywash overnite.  Not too warm this morning, but above freezing.  Hear we are going to have an up and down winter season.  And that is just our thermostat....

Good Friday morning everyone.  We have a cool 46 degrees here in Louisville this morning, going for a high of 77 today with plenty of sunshine.

Barry, Chicken Abracadbra is my version of the Crock Pot's recipe for Pork Chop Abracadbra:  instead of browing pork chops, putting them in the pot w/a can of cream soup or salsa or picante sauce, I brown chicken, and add onion and potatoes.  Then, it cooks in the Crock Pot for about 6 hours on high.  Or, you can put the pot on the low setting (if you're going to be gone all day), and it will be ready to eat when you get home.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station, we have the regular breakfast menu, along with a small selection of doughnuts and danish.

We watched a very good movie last night:  Out to Sea with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemon.  Also had Diane Cannon, Edward Mulhare, Hal Lindon, Dennis O'Connor, an all-star cast, including Gloria DeHaven.  Haven't seen her in anything for years. Saw some others in the movie, and later, I'll do a Google search and see whose names belong to faces who looked familiar, but couldn't remember their names.

Mookie, here's you coffee mug, and what would you like to have to eat this morning?

Must have slept crooked last night, as I seem to have awakened with a crick in my neck.  Having a little bit of trouble moving my head to the left side this morning.  Other than that, doing fine this morning.

Tom, hope everything goes well for you today.  Take care, and keep us informed.  Will be praying for you.

Everyone, have a good day, and see you all later.

I spent the better part of the afternoon in the urologist's office and have to wait until the tests come back before knowing if I go inpatient for a couple of days. I have to go have some xrays in the morning, too. It is beginning to look like Monday at the earliest if I have to be admitted. Thanks for the kind wishes.

It was a beautiful day here, sunny blue sky and temp around 70. I could go for more like this!

I had a fairly decent Nikon camera, until one of the cats (not current ones) decided to knock it off the chest of drawers.  A four foot drop to the floor did not do the camera any good.  Now, whenever I do get the opportunity to take a picture, I use the first Kodak digital camera I got for Walt.  I don't often take pictures anymore, because I seem to have a problem now of keeping my hands steady, when trying to take a picture.

For our supper tonight, we have:

1.  Chicken abracadbra w/onion & potatoes, green beans, and baked cornbread.

2.  Lasagna w/your choice of garlic bread or Italian bread and tossed salad.

I hope everyone enjoys, have a good evening and you all take care.

.....So far, we seem to be having rather nice Fall weather.  It is actually mild outside right now.  And again, sunny with blue skies.  Should be a really nice day.  Almost no wind.

Cameras:   The product {hardware}, took such a fast turn from film over to digital.  I believe it caught many of us by surprise.  Personally, I had purchased a decent Canon EOS film camera with a very likeable lens:  28 to 200mm range {loved the versatility of it}, but sadly hadn't had it very long until the onslought of digital.  I was shocked at the speed it changed, from film to digital.

That camera has been in my camera drawer now for over two years or more...{time gets away}, and has not been used.

So I held back and perhaps from a bit of disapointment, languished in wondering what to do.  First we purchased an inexpensive digital...and used it for a while.  It kind of did fine to take pic's. to download on here....And as Jen indicated....we already have several drawers full of packages of print photos.  So this change helped that situation, now just download onto the computer and delete what is not wanted.

So...finally, decided to take a step up just a bit, and ended up with one of Canon's PowerShot units.  Good zoom range....3" LCD screen to view pic's....10 mp ability....compact in size....installed memory card that can handle up to 1400 shots.....rechargeable batteries....and AA size, not rare expensive ones....and putting that together, and my non professonal needs of doing shots....has left me very satisfied with what it can do.  More manual settings and features that I'll ever need 'nor use.  And I am very pleased with it's performance.

Just my My 2 Cents contribution.

But, again, this is really a nice day here.....Even have shorts on this morning.  Have not given in to Winter yet.

Mr. Tree - you also have beautiful scenery to shoot, family that doesn't live about an arm's length away and constant coal trains that look exactly alike each time by and have never fallen over in front of me.

I have seen other people use digital and it is a whole lot better than the Brownie I used as a kid.  But I seem to have reached the point that I don't need that shoebox in my closet collecting pix any more.  I gave everything to my daughter (part of downsizing) and now just look at other's pictures and enjoy them.

Plus - I wouldn't recognize any of my family members if they didn't have a cell phone and a digital camera stuck on their head.

So for me - I need to move to another location, make sure there is more variety in trains, take a photography class and then have The Driver take the photos.  (he's great at it)

Sigh

Mookie

That's why I don't buy a digital.  I would spend all my spare time deleting my pix.  Everyone knows I am a horrible bowler, pool shooter and now photo-taker.  My best shot was and still is, my foot!

Ms Mook - One nice thing about most digital cameras is that you can see the results of your shot right then and there (albeit on a smallish screen) and may be able to make corrections and shoot again.  That's as opposed to waiting for the pictures to come back from the processor.

You also don't have to worry about conserving film.  In the mode I usually leave my Digital Rebel I can shoot over 500 images before I run out of memory (haven't gotten there yet).  Of course, that will take both memory cards and probably two of the three batteries I have for it, but still...

Unless I absolutely know I took a rotten picture I never delete anything until I get to the computer, where I can see what I did with some detail.  Even what looks like a lousy shot will sometimes contain something of value, and I can often crop or otherwise process the image into something useful.

Even the point-and-shoot cameras have pretty good image size these days, and the price is usually reasonable, too.

Of course, I did buy an external hard drive so I'd have a place to store all of the images, too.
