Just got back in from doing several errands this morning/afternoon, temps in the 60s right now, rain holding off until later today. Took the bike, guess that will be my last bike ride for 2010.

Happy Birthday, Ed, and for all the partiers out there, don't drink and drive, the cops really hate cleaning up the mess afterwards. The only beer I drink now is of the root variety, the desire to keep my CDL has a lot to do with it (that and .04 is considered legally drunk in a semi). That and after hauling all the beer that I have, I get sick just looking at it......
In the 40s here, rain and thunder going on here, but the bottom is to fall out of the temp tonight, making it harder for the drunks to get home after the roads re-freeze. Going out to dinner with friends later at a place just a block away that has very good fish, will be nice to see them again.

Texas chili is on the serving station, along with some of the regular Friday Fish Fry, so you all should have a good selection to pick from.
I'll start the steaks around 4, and all the trimmings are just about all prepared, so they'll be ready after 4 p.m.
My hopes for the New Year: May we see some sort of peace come into this world of ours, so our Military Men and Women can come home to their families; Love, Health, Happiness, Friends Aplenty for us all.

Never did enjoy too much going out on this holiday eve....Always seemed to be a "forced" celebration, and so many of course did it over the top too much....
We wish a good year for our Country, and to all posters on here. May economics improve for so many that have been hit hard. Also, I personally, would like to see us wind down these "wars" {quicker}, we've been involved in much too long. We can't afford to really take on all the "bad people" and solve all the World's problems. If all the free nations of the world would band together, and then try to eradicate some of the major problems....I'd say that would be a worthy approach. But we've done our share, and it's time to pull back and pay attention here at home like we've not done in decades.
Jen....You seem to be pretty close to some nasty weather sweeping across NE. Have heard of no damage in this area from our 3.8 quake on the Richter scale yesterday morning.
Most of the really nasty weather stuff passing this way, fortunately....has been going north of us.

I'll second Ed's comment on designated drivers, and caution everyone that even while they're driving sober, be very careful, as there will be people who aren't.
Looking like it might make 50 here today, and the forecast for New Years Day is for rain, not snow. I'm sure Ms Mook's weather will be here sooner rather than later.

Working at WoodCraft today, then switching tomorrow, but at double time and a half, I think I can tolerate it!
Besides, most of our industries are on slow down for the holidays, so I doubt we will work all 8 hours anyway.

I did the same thing (listed them in a database) with my "people." Found out I have some duplicates. Some are OK, but you only need so many "Funerals."
Took advantage of an inventory clearance at a kiosk at the mall today and picked up a couple of remote control helicopters (two for one!). Need to get some place with more room than my house to play with them, though. The little buggers can really cover a lot of territory in a hurry! They are fun to fly, however.
Got a big printing job done today, so now I can relax a little. Have to gin up two reports before the fire meeting next week, and I've got to review the entire year's worth of responses to do so.

Larry, may have to try your system of putting the projects on the computer and keeping track thereof; thought I was finished with "most of" my model railroad projects......until I got a phone call a week or so ago from a fellow "O" Scale friend, wanting to know if I would be interested in taking some stuff off his hands, as he was downsizing. Well, after 8 boxes of Railroad, Model Railroad magazines, "several" "O" Scale car kits and parts along with a lot of other things, I think I'm going to be busy for quite awhile! (anybody got a tender for a 4-6-2 Pennsylvania K-4?; got the loco but need the tender.)("O" Scale 2-rail)

Just returned from the barber shop. A good time to hit it, as it was just the barber and I. He asked me if I felt the earth quake....?? I had not.
He related at a few min. to 8 this morning, we experienced a 3.8 reading on the Richter scale. He indicated he was sitting in the barber chair and he felt the sensation of moving back and forth, and noted the big window just in front of the shop, was moving back and forth.
Word is, the center was near Kokomo....roughly 60 mi. from here.

Bob, the pork roast is just about ready (give it about another 1/2 hour, and it'll be on the serving station, along with the mashed taters and gravy. Just finished icing a white birthday cake w/white icing, w/blue, and red icing decorations on it.
Mookie, your temps this morning sound very good to me. Our indoor/outdoor thermometer is showing 50 degrees. But I haven't stuck my head out the door, since I got the paper this morning. It does look like the rain is out of our area (at least for the time being).

Modelcar .....We can see almost our total yard without snow covering it....The first in about a month. Rather warm this morning...{that's relative}, of course, but it sure did melt snow overnight. Must head out for a haircut soon this morning, and then some more stops to do today. The "old year" is winding down, lets hope for a better one for all on here this coming New Year.

It is wonderful to consider that I should have only a few more days to go over to the hospital.

Well, the Upper Thames River Conservation authority have flooding advisories about for our area as we are expecting the BIG MELT and lots of rain over the next few days... As per these advisories they are warning people to stay away from any ponds, streams, creeks, rivers....any body of water...blah blah blah...
....we ended up with so much snow up here that these things tend to be making for a much more puddling time too...
Found out a friend of mine fell down some stairs and broke his hip a few days ago and is now diagnosed as having bone cancer on top of this....cancer sux!!!!!...we put out prayer candles out for his recovery....
So...off to do stuff that needs done now...

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider, and hot water for tea are fresh and ready to go. On the serving station this morning:
Bear claws, bagels, bacon, sausage, eggs (however you want them), made from scratch buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, and whatever else you all might wish to have this morning.
43 degrees, with rain this morning, supposed to get up into the 50s today, and tomorrow, then back in the freezer Sunday. Oh well, it is winter time!!

Paula is not the only one with transportation problems. WHen I got up this morning, it was still snowing (very lightly, but cold and wet). It stopped before I went in to see Ricki, and I had a quick trip (just under thirty minutes for just over 15 miles). Coming home was an entirely different matter; it usually takes about a half hour. It started snowing again in the middle of the afternoon and by the time I left (5:30) quite a bit had fallen. I think that I came up, not only only the 5:30 home-goers (usually not many), but the 5:00, 4:30, and at least the 4:00 as well. It took me two hours (I avoided the freeways, and apparently half of the people working in Salt Lake CIty did the same). I did get home safely.
We had some good news today; Ricki may come home next Tuesday morning. Some therapy people apparently are coming out to the house Monday to see what we have to help her get around (we wonder what changes they will recommend). She would like to come home sooner, but it is felt that she is not ready yet.
Between now and then, we expect single digit temperatures Thursday, Frida, and Saturday mornings--with more snow Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Weather box says we got up to 36 today. I hear it's supposed to keep warming up, then the door gets slammed this weekend.
I may take a ride down to a friend's place for a New Years Day get together. If the weather is good, I'll probably go. Otherwise the two hour drive could be problematic.
Went through the model RR kits I have on hand. Actually, what I could find. I think I have more, but I've never really tried to keep them all in one place.
Now I've got a database of projects I can check off.
Chicken Cordon Bleu must be about done. Time for supper.
I still come in, CW, I just don't have much to talk about.....
Still working on model train cars, and realizing that with all the cars I have bought lately (some of it at retirement sale prices from Walthers), I may have to go out and purchase another storage system from A-Line. The three that I have are filling rapidly, due in part to all the intermodal equipment I bought. On the bright side, I should have enough equipment now to make some replicas of the trains I watched as a teenager......
Other than that, battling a cold, which I will hopefully be able to get over by Friday, having dinner with friends at a local place known for it's fish. Supposed to warm up here, could see 50 on Friday, then the bottom falls out for the new year.
Well, back to more fun and games......
