Good Sunday morning everyone.  I'm glad I snuck back in last night, and cleared/cleaned up the serving station, as no one had come in.

27 degrees w/partly cloudy skies this morning.  Supposed to get up to about 50 something degrees today.

Coffee, juices, hot cider, hot water for tea, hot chocolate are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  fresh baked cinnamon rolls, blueberry muffins and chocolate chip muffins, along with some bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs.

Does anyone have any suggestions for our Sunday Dinner?

Hope you all have a good morning, taking care if going to Church, work, railfanning, or returning home from your long holiday weekend.

Well, everybody must be busy, busy, busy today.  No one in here since early this morning, except for moi, as I had to come in this afternoon, to make the pizza dough, and cutting/chopping the fresh veggies, pineapple and meats.

Here is the pizza menu for tonight:

1.  Anchovie

2.  Hawaiian

3.  Pepperoni/mushroom

4.  Supreme

Other pizzas are in the freezer in case anyone wants cheese, Chicago style, Goetta or Italian sausage.

Everyone have a good evening,  and take care.

Good Saturday morning everyone.  Mudchicken, hope you and boss hen have a safe trip back home.  Hi Mookie, how was your Thanksgiving?

Coffee, juices, hot cider, hot tea, hot chocolate all fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, grits, biscuits, toast, muffins, bagels, bear claws, gravy, etc. ready for your brunch.

A noise woke me up this morning (after getting back to sleep from Trapper waking me up), and it was Sarah, going out to start her Jeep to go to work. Guess I'll try to go back to sleep after a bit.

We're starting out with a temp in the low to mid 30s, going for a high of about 44 today.  Hopefully, it'll be a sunshiny day.  Everyone have a good day, and see you back for our Pizza Fest tonight.  Take care, all of you!

Friday nite...loading up the car and heading back to Denver starting on  Saturday. Think we'll go the southern route this time (I-74 to I-70 WB)....Cincy got a light snow after 3" of rain on turkeyday. Probably make a side trip through Connersville to see if any of the Limas (CUT-25 et al) are running.

Our inside thermometer is showing 41 degrees outside, homepage on puter shows 38 degrees outside currently.  All I know, is, it's cold outside with the wind blowing!

Guess Mookie is watching the Colorado/Nebraska football game on TV.  Gee, wonder which team she's rooting for! {swg}

I've laid out the fixings for turkey sandwiches for you all.  Am taking a poll for supper:  leftover turkey, dressing, etc., or have our Saturday Pizza Fest  tonight?  You all decide, and let me know.

Just finished my back exercises, and boy oh boy, are my the backs of my legs burning!  Guess I'm really doing them correctly, huh?

Everyone have a good afternoon, keep warm and take care.

Our coldest morning of this season.....24 degrees earlier.

But, to make up for that....No snow in this area....and clear bright, sunny skies now.  A bit of wind with it makes it feel everybit of the bite of 24 degrees.

I suppose the stores have been humming since early in the morning...{actually right after midnight}....They can have all that activity, no interference from us.

Must take my HD, digital receiver to the Cable co. office this morning and try to get another....Picked the time to go bad right over the holiday....and it's just 4 months of age.

Connected the cable directily to the TV and we're getting some stations, even some in HD....but they are all over the channel spectrum.  Hope to rectify that situation yet this moning.  Hope I'm successful.  Must get it up and going to see our Pacer's play this evening...!

Our cable co. is one relationship I find difficult to keep calm in dealing with it....But will try as soon as I get off here and disconnect remaining cables so I can take it to be replaced....Hopefully.

Other TV {Bedroom}, working fine, so with both TV's working, the culprit has to be that digital box.

Update:  Late afternoon now.   New HD digital box in place and TV up and running.....{after a back & forth of conversation {with cable co.}, trying to get new unit activated}...Seems to be just about right....We'll see.

Sunny but cold this morning, albeit above freezing.  About a quarter inch of rain overnight.  That lake effect notwithstanding, it looks to be a nice day.

I've got to wander into Black-Friday-shoppers-land on the way to the railroad today.  Hopefully the traffic won't be ridiculous by mid morning.  Gotta have a new battery for the RR lantern, since I know we'll be working in the dark by the end of the day.

Time to start getting ready to go.

Good morning everybody. 64 degrees in Carolina, cloudy and calling for rain later. No snow for us, Paula, and probably not a whole lot of rain either. I have been up for a while chasing people on the wireless and caught a few. I am getting too old to sit up all night just to exchange howdies with some yaehu in Foomistan or wherever, but seem to try anyhow. Once there was a time I could work all day, play with the radio all night and then work all day. Those days are long past and that would likely put me in traction if I tried.... I have to remember that it's a hobby.

Everyone have a great day and stay safe.

Tom

Good Friday morning, everyone.  I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving!  Ours was  pretty good.  It was still raining when I went to bed last night, around 10:30.  I'm not sure what time Walt came up and asked me if I wanted to wake up and see the snow coming down.  I said "NO" and went right back to sleep.  I was nice and toasty under the covers.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Bagels, bear claws, muffins and cinnamon rolls are on the serving station for you all.  (Wonder how many of you are already out in the Black Friday mess.)  I do not miss working on this day of the year:  I'd already be at work, if I were.)

We currently have 31 degrees, and with the wind chill, feels like the mid 20s outside.  Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

We are still getting rain, rain and more rain.  Walt and I were outside a little bit ago, and he checked our rain gauge:  right at 2 inches of rain.

Our Thanksgiving supper is now on the serving station:

Plenty of turkey with dressing, green beans, corn, dumplings, cranberry sauce and cranberry relish, potato salad, deviled eggs, Watergate salad

Desserts:  Pumpkin pie, chocolate cake, apple cobbler, Mince meat bars, and turkey shaped decorated sugar cookies.  (And yes, there's plenty of ice cream in the freezer!)

Hope you're all enjoying your Thanksgiving, take care and see you all later.

Hoo-Boy.  Lake Effect advisory for tomorrow afternoon.  It probably won't affect our trains, but that does mean I may have to deal with it on the way home...

Hoping for the best!

Murray

Good morning Murray:

Thanksgiving holiday time was really the worst time and trouble when the Pennsy Turnpike still contained all the original 2 lane tunnels.  Before the probelm was remedied, traffic was backing up as much as 20 miles on this holiday.

Starting back in the 60's, the Turnpike Commision, hit the problem hard and doubled the tunnels where it was not possible to go around them.  So all those bottlenecks have been eliminated.  If I remember correctly, Allegheny & Laurel Hill caused the worst backup.  Allegheny was doubled, and of course Laurel Hill was by passed.  All was accomplished without increasing the max. gradient of 3%.  The steepest max. on the original 160 miles of it.  That part was opened on Oct. 1st, 1940.

As you very well might know....that original 160 miles followed the much older partially graded railroad bed that was to be the South Penn Railroad.  The Turnpike roughly followed that grading.   Including most of the original partially finished tunnels.  That construction was stopped in 1885.

Our home area in Pennsylvania is near the Turnpike exit of Somerset.

Quentin, enjoyed your story about the traffic on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and the tunnel bottlenecks.  I remember them well.

Of course, I remember when driving across to St Louis is was US 40 and not I-70.

Cool

Currently 73 and cloudy down here in Alamo City.

The cold front that the midwest is headed our way, and we should be getting it by this evening.  I can see on the radar that parts of far west Texas are getting snow.

Wishing you all a most blessed and happy Thanksgiving.

Please don't forget our less fortunate friends and family, who may not be able to enjoy the holiday.

If you know someone who is alone, please consider setting another place at the table and invite them into your home.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Happy thanksgiving, everyone....

Was an interesting drive back to Wisconsin yesterday, roads were not bad, still had traction, but everyone else thought it was slick.  Everyone also seems to like to slam on their brakes whenever they see a salt truck or a cop on the side of the road, guess nobody ever saw a cop give someone a ticket or saw a salt truck before.

At home now, will head over to parents later for dinner, will just be four of us, other sister is visiting her boyfriend's side, but that's ok, I like small gatherings anyway.  Friday morning (if the rig starts, it's at Richfield in case it needs help) will be back out on the road, should be an interesting weekend....

See everyone later....

Happy Thanksgiving to the rest of you out there. It is very cold here in the Dakotas, I got up here this morning and our temp in Sioux Falls was 1 above 0. Windchill was at -10. We will see a high of 13, maybe 15 degrees and that's it.

We had a light drizzle here yesterday afternoon, and it froze. So I thought I'd better get out and buy myself some ice melter. I took the small cart that I own, went to my neighborhood Sunshine Foods and bought a 40# bag of ice melt. I thought that with a given amount of weight in my cart, I would not slip and fall - No Sir!!!! Twice within a block of my house, I fell forward and more or less landed on my face. The good thing is that I was not physically harmed in any way.

Later this afternoon I will be baking pumpkin spice bread for my family's Thangsgiving dinner. Chef

Have a good day, everyone!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all!!  May your day be filled with plenty of food, good cheer, and good health.  I am very, very thankful for my family, friends and acquaintances.  Please take a few moments today to remember our military men and women who are in Afghanistan, the ones left in Iraq, and wherever else they may be, where they are in harms' way.

Coffee is ready, along with juices and other morning beverages.  I'll have a glass of orange/tangerine juice, as usual.   On the serving station this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and your choice of pancakes (flapjacks) or waffles.  There is also a few bagels and bear claws.

I'm heading back into the kitchen in a few minutes, to start getting Mr. Turkey ready for the oven.  Everyone have a good morning, and take care.  See you all later.

Let me wish all my friends a very happy and joyous Thanksgivng. It is officially sanctioned that you may pig out at will.

I had a most enjoyable day today. There were incredibly good conditions on the wireless for this time of the solar cycle, and I exchanged pleasantries with folks from New Zealand to Madagascar to Albania and points in between.

Take care and enjoy

Tom

Bundling up.  Almost 60 yesterday, nineteen right now.  Sheesh!

Hanging out at the house for turkey day this year (as long as nobody tries to deep-fry their house instead of their turkey).  Kids are both elsewhere.

Still planning a full dinner, though.  In fact, I'd better get my cranberry relish done and in the fridge!  It needs to mull for a while to be really good.

Off to the kitchen!

Well, I finally made it back in here.  Been a really busy day for me.  Even had to go to the store, to pick up one of my prescriptions.  Woke from a morning nap, with really bad indigestion.  So had to get my prescription refilled for the generic Zantac the dr. has me on.

I'll be getting up early in the morning, to get the turkey prepped and in the oven.  No sweets for me this year:  and I think everyone here knows how much I like my sweets, especially anything chocolate and pecan pie.  (Yep, don't like pumpkin pie or sweet potato pie.  YUCK!)

Everyone have a very good evening, stay dry and warm, and take care.
