Ray - good news! Always welcome.
Mookie, I like your idea for Sunday Dinner! So, here's the entire menu:
1. Pan fried chicken, mashed taters, cream gravy, green beans, corn, biscuits, your choice of garden salad or cole slaw
2. Beef noodles, green beans, corn, biscuits, your choice of garden salad or cole slaw
3. White Castle hamburgers, and WC cheeseburgers, w/your choice of fries or onion rings.
I'm not sure what our current temp is, but with the off and on rain, it is very cool here. Had to dig out a pair of sweat pants and a sweat shirt to put on, and put socks on my feet.
Everyone have a good afternoon, stay dry and warm if you can, and everyone take care!
grampaw pettiboneIt's amazing how little the general public knows about the railroads
Tom, I don't find the fact the public knows little about railroads are still out there, hauling much of today's freight and some passengers. It has appeared to me, they have kind of promoted this {non image and profile}, for decades....Maybe purposely....I'm not sure why, but it sure does appear that way from the routine of RR's to be kind of stealth. {I hear a horn just north of us now on the NS line.....They can't keep that quiet most places}, though....
Sunday morning has started out earlier here at about 60 degrees and a possibility of some rain the next few days...Not steady or any big weather front, just the possibility of some rain during those upcoming days and with temps in the upper 60's and about 70.
It's about time for the Church and S S cycle routine this morning....so soon must get ready.
Jen...I can kind of relate to the busyness folks seem to aquire as retirement routine moves on.....I seem to have new magazines here on a monthly basis that I really don't get them all read until the next months edition is arriving....including TRAINS mag. You might sense how fast it seems to be moving for me as I'm in my 17th year of retirement...!
But I'm not complaining....We're still going.....
Quentin
Tree - retirement was manageable until Driver retired. Now I can't seem to find my head or time, either one. Our week is all appointments!
Rain in area, but nothing to write home about.
Joe, et al - watched history channel last nite - how state boarders were "drawn". You all have interesting boarders. True mid-west has mostly box boarders. Seems royalty had a hand in yours - railroad in ours. We got the better deal, I think.....
Ray - That's definitely good news times two.
Looking like a mixed week here. Some showers in the forecast, but it shouldn't be a bad week.
It'll be busy, though.

Good Sunday morning, everyone. Hope you all had a great day yesterday.
1. Brian, yes, you got me there. Although, sometimes I use the Bisquick Heart Healthy mix for baking the biscuits, pies and cakes, etc.
2. Ray, glad to hear that your brother Tim is home and doing o.k.
3. Joe, thank you so much for taking care of breakfast this morning. I really appreciate you guys around here! Think I'll just grab a couple of pancakes, and a couple of sausage, and enjoy breakfast this morning!
We currently have 65 degrees, with a 60% chance of showers/thundershowers for today, with a high of 71. But the weather guessers say it will be out of here tomorrow, and this next week should be a dry week for us. Lets hope so!!
Everyone enjoy your morning, keep safe, and take care. Do we have any requests for Sunday Dinner?
good morning
Ray thats good news.Derf and Roll went well yesterday despite a couple of sprinkles. We saw alot of new people come by.Csx surprised us with a q 324 in daylight.(garrett-toledo).The only wye that wasn't used was the SW wye. Those trains run at night now due to a work curfew south of lima.Juice and coffee are ready to go.The warmer bar is filled up with pancakes bacon and sausage. We aslo have some"derf" chicken from last night too.Going to get matt up for church and sunday school.
Joe
If anyone would like to know, my brother Tim was released from the heart hospital yesterday afternoon (Friday). I talked with his wife over the phone and she told me that he is doing O.K. I did not talk directly with him, Roxie told me that he was sleeping in his reciner in the living room. How long it will be before he goes back to work, God only knows, but all of us have told him to rest up, take it easy and take it one day at a time.
On another note, I have a nephew who is stationed in the U.S. Army and he and his wife live in Oklahoma. Seargent Jason Liptak ended up seeing an orthodpedic ocologist after it was discovered that he has two rather large tumors, one in one of his knees, and the other located between one of his shoulder blades and spine. His mother emailed me yesterday and informed me that both tumors have proven to be benign - non cancerous!!
I for one, feel that God definitely answers prayer!!
cherokee womanBrian, I'll have to check out some low fat, low cholesterol dishes to start serving in here, won't I?
I thought EVERYTHING here was NO fat, NO cholesterol!
Brian (IA) http://blhanel.rrpicturearchives.net.
I can handle pizza.
Pizza was among the tasty tidbits served by daughter at grandson's birthday party this afternoon. He was a bit confused by all the commotion, especially when he was sitting in his high chair and nobody was paying attention to him. He just sat there sucking his thumb. "Papa" (that's me) got him started on his pizza, and he then proceded to polish it off.
A good time was had by all.
It's amazing how little the general public knows about the railroads, and the lengths they go to sound convincing. I was on ebay a while back and some turkey had a rail police badge for sale. It was marked C.R.I.P. According to the genius what listed it, that stood for Cleveland, Rhode Island and Pittsburgh. Amazing what can be learned on ebay....

We just got home a little bit ago, from going to the movies: this was my belated birthday treat from Sarah. We went to see the 3D version of Avatar. Really, really good!!!!!
Here's our Saturday Night Pizza menu for tonight:
1. Canadian bacon
2. Cheese w/extra cheese
3. Goetta
4. Hawaiian
5. Pepperoni/mushroom
6. Pepperoni/sausage
7. Italian sausage
8. Supreme
On the way into the cinemas, it was sprinkling rain. Guess that is about all we got.
As we went by the P&L on our way home, saw some military equipment on flat cars. Couldn't exactly tell what kind of military equipment, though. Maybe we'll get another chance to check them out over the weekend.
Everyone have a great evening, and take care.
Good thing I don't have an appetite lately- mainly due to a nasty head cold. My sinuses are killing me. The cardiologist has me on a low-fat low-cholesterol diet, and so far I've lost about 12 pounds. Can hardly wait for the first cardiac rehab session, when they'll check me out on a treadmill again. Looking forward to walking to work again.
Good Saturday AM to all from Prescott, AZ (about 30 Mi. from Cannonball).
I shall heartliy partake of CW's breakfast. My 3rd cortisone shot last Monday is working well and my severe lower back pain is now minimal so my appetite has returned.
CW - if rain misses you, it looks like I will send more!
Good Saturday morning, everyone. We have a nice, cool temp outside of 62 degrees this morning, going for a high of 77 this afternoon. Will be mostly cloudy today, with a slight chance of showers/tstorms late afternoon, evening. Maybe it'll miss us this time.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Larry, Tom and other hot tea drinkers, that includes fresh, hot water for your tea!
On the serving station this morning: bagels, bear claws, pancakes w/syrup, bacon ,sausage, scrambled eggs, grits, toast, sausage gravy, biscuits, cantaloupe, watermelon, pineapple, kiwi, papaya.
I hope you all have a great day, keep safe and take care. See you all tonight, for our pizza fest.
Afternoon Everyone...
We had thunderstorms most of the day here in Alamo City. They are just now moving off to the east. The front must have gone through because it is noticably cooler out.
Enjoy your Friday!
Cannonball: I thought of you when we were in North Platte. I couldn't get the Roanoke most of the time and when I did, it was so jerky. I was using a motel connection and figured it was the small town or motel connection that wasn't powerful enough. (25K people) and way out west in NE.
Here at home I have roadrunner and it about rips my arm off getting to the VA cam.
CW - peach cobbler with vanilla - that sounds good - and I am not a big ice cream lover!
CW The weather ch. said big storm heading there. Their big storm and your storm are 2 different definitions heh heh. Get to cut weeds along fence row now. Cannonball
Y6bs evergreen in my mind
Cannonball, we had a shower a little while ago. Right now, at 12:13, we just have cloudy, overcast conditions. Think we'll probably get a little bit more later this afternoon, though, before it's totally out of our area.
Right now, I have our Friday Fish Fry ready and on the serving station. We have cod, haddock, halibut, founder, shrimp (jumbo butterfly and popcorn), salmon patties, bass and catfish.
Side dishes: baked beans, cole slaw, corn on the cob, fries, hush puppies, deep fried breaded mushrooms, mac & cheese.
Desserts: chocolate cake w/chocolate icing, yellow cake w/caramel icing, pecan pie, and apple, cherry, peach cobblers and plenty of ice cream, any flavor you want.
Everyone have a very good afternoon ,enjoy your lunch, stay dry (if you're getting rain), and take care.
Quentin , you were right on with the letters and numbers. Very busy on the avenue at mst.830am . Just caught a maroon beetle type car lurching along, then UPS van . AS you said, a sunny day in the old south. Thanks for the letters & numbers. ~~~ Now I get to destory weeds along the fence row. Sometimes Im blessed with good luck LOL. ~~~ Tom , I forgot to mention birdies in the headphones .
CW; Im hongry as a bear, and need some bicketts & gravy. A big helping will do. Then a peach danish & coffee will be fine. Hope that evil weather system will by pass LVL that is heading your way. ~~~ Finally got puter back to normal. was working it when ( POOF ) power failure. Hammer and crow bar sure come in handy. HEH HEH . ~~~~ Jim
Cannonball:
I hope you were successful in getting back on the Roanoke Rail Cam...It sure is nice and sunny there this morning....Pic is really nice to check out under the nice sunshine.
Tom ; I know of the ( singing light pole ) . That carrier hum and buzzz~~zzz can irritate . Narrow band can be a bummer at times.
73s to you . Cannonball
grampaw pettibone MookieSpent the last 4 days in North Platte visiting the Golden Spike. Sounds like a saloon. Tied one on, huh? Or maybe several 72 already in Carolina, another dry day. Got the lawn guy cutting the grass at present, waking up the wife and I, along with any dead folks in a mile or so radius. Paula, thanks for breakfast. Everyone take care

Well Tom, I must accomplish mowing {again}, today too, and it looks like the weather will accommodate ok....But I don't think me and the John Deere will make that much noise.
It certainly is still growing at a rapid rate.....If I don't get it mowed every 4 days, it will be real trouble....Still at that, I must take about a half a cut anyway as it is so thick and high enough to upset a mulching type mower to leave clumps etc...Just too much volume for a mulcher to handle this time of the year trying to take a full width cut. And that cut is at 3".
A very nice morning here indeed....In the 70's. and will seemingly be a nice day.
Have a few other projects to accomplish, but we'll work them in....No need to be in any great hurry.
Joe - I am not sure if Driver & I ate Derf or dirt but something upset both of us. Maybe it was "not-hot-enough" dirt?
mother nature put on a light show last night at work.we did get some more rain but the system now has gone east.We have chores to do today but tommorow is a big day in the corn city.My project is also complete.I have almost 600 pictures on a disk of interesting times in the corn city that I could put on it.Everything from auto carriers to cn zebra units.going to show it at deshler tomorrow.if someone likes what they see they can download on their computer for a small donation to the railpark.Cw thanks for breakfast today.Tommorow we'll be eating Derf.
