It's going to get a little hot and sticky here in Sioux Falls for the next few days, our temp is supposed to top out at 86 degrees this afternoon, and right now the humidity is at about 42%.
Meanwhile, I can not get my central air conditioning system to run, and my brother-in-law had installed it for me about 10 years ago. Right now he and my sister are down in Jamaica for their son's wedding, so I will have to wait until they get home. But, I can survive all this, as I've got two fans in my basement and a ceiling fan in my bedroom.
cherokee womanWell, I watched the series finale of Lost last night. Did any of you watch it last night?
I'm sure my daughter is in mourning, though. She loved the show.
Off to the day's hot projects. Looks to be a nice one, already over 70.

CW - it is a very humid humidity. Fans just moved the air around and not much cooling going on at all.

JoeKohhas the gatorade truck rolled in yet??
Good Monday morning, everyone. 73 degrees this morning, here in Louisville. High today will be "89", but I'm thinking we'll probably see at least 90 degrees this afternoon. Very uncomfortable night sleeping last night, even with the ceiling fan on in the bedroom, along with another fan on the floor.
Yes, Joe, the Gatorade truck rolled in two weeks ago. We have plenty of Gatorade on hand!!
Coffee, juices are fresh & ready to go, along with cold Gatorade, iced tea (sweet & unsweet), cold milk, chocolate milk, strawberry milk, and, of course, there's hot water for our hot tea drinkers.
Our 'next door neighbor' finally got out of the nursing/rehab center yesterday. Walt and I were out on the porch, and saw them take her out of the ambulance. For right now, she is across the street at her sister-in-law's house. Guess they decided to keep both of them over there, and take care of the two of them together. Her sister-in-law has Alzheimers, and I think it'll be easier for our neighbor's two daughters to have them both together, so that they aren't going back and forth across the street, caring for them.
Everyone have a good morning, stay as cool as you can, and you all take care.
Whew! Busy weekend!
We "detailed" and installed the sound system in our primary pax car, did some work on the camp car to make it habitable for the season, painted/stained some picnic tables, got the flag put back up on the train order signal mast, and generally cleaned.
I drove home on autopilot.
I'm pooped. Time for bed.

Bob, you've got my mouth watering! Are you, by chance, sharing that with us here in the Flat Wheel?
If not, I happen to have some pork chop abracadbra in the Crock Pot, along with potatoes and a little bit of onion. To go with it, there's fresh tomatoes, sliced and there's also cole slaw and cornbread. And, I've also got some ribs going on the smoker grill, and another Crock Pot w/pinto beans in it. They should be ready by about 6, 6:30 tonight, Mookie!
Not sure what our current temp is, but Walt and I just came in from the front porch, and it is mighty warm outside. And not much of a breeze at all.
ribs....(drool)
Good Sunday morning, everyone. I trust all of you had a great day yesterday. This morning ,we have 63 degrees, going for a high of 90 today. They (weatherguessers) are saying we're to have a very warm and sticky week.

cherokee woman6. Pepperoni/sausage
We had a great day in NW Illinois. Sunshine & a soft wind. I puttered around outside, then Barbara & I went for ice cream.
Not much going on, either here in the Cafe/Diner or here at home.
But, here is our pizza menu for tonight:
1. Cheese w/extra cheese
2. Goetta
3. Hawaiian
4. Italian sausage
5. Pepperoni/mushroom
6. Pepperoni/sausage
7. Supreme
There are two extra large of each, and if we need more, they're in the freezer, ready to put into the oven.
Everyone enjoy, have a great evening, and take care.
BNSF is fantastic. We parked there to watch trains and suddenly the yard became a no-person's-land. Went to eat breakfast and could hear all the whistles.
Went back - ditto. Went to bookstore and could hear all the train horns running like mad.
Went back around 3pm - nothing, zip, nada.
Came home - have south windows open and yep - you guessed it.
How do they do that?
Quentin - go to our favorite Netherlands web cam, click on multi and you can watch one of 6 pix. The best one is a "birdie" cam. A nested pair of "Hobby Falcons" and their new brood. Put the regular webcam in the background and you can watch both!
.....Our Saturday morning is fog like overcast, but is to give way to sunshine later today, and then several days with more sunshine and.....much warmer.
So....In a short while {after grass dries}, we'll be on the John Deere, and then another spouting to clear Oak leave fuzzies from it. Oh, yes....it's time to start trimming shrubs too. They have been growing like wildfire...!
TV news is telling us of lower gasoline prices....and that happening with the approaching Memorial Day weekend.......??? It really has come down almost 30 cents here in the last week or so...
Sounds good to me with our desire to head east to Pennsylvania home area for several days this coming holiday. An annual occurance. lots of old freinds to see at our little home town Memorial Day celebration....One of the largest in the county....For decades. Perhaps 70 years plus. Back in early years of it, of course it was Decoration Day.
Good Saturday morning, everyone! We have 63 degrees this a.m., going for a high of about 83, 84 degrees with plenty of sunshine. Tomorrow, will be close or right at 90 degrees, with very sticky conditions for much of next week.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.
On the serving station this morning: a good ole 'country breakfast' to stick to your ribs for your 'adventurous Saturday': We have fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits w/gravy, country fried steak (fried in a good ole cast iron skillet), scrambled eggs, bagels, bear claws, fried taters, sausage, bacon, strawberry jam, blackberry jelly, grape jelly.
Everyone have a terrific day, and take care.
Good morning from asparagus free Pettibone Mortgage Manor, where we are taking applications from people with filet mignon, Italian spaghetti and other such novelties. 66 degrees and clear to partly clear in Carolna on a Saturday morning. Not normally up this early, but got up to see what worthwhile is on the wireless. Nuffin!
We are supposed to have a high of 84 and a thunderstorm later. The rain we can use.
Everyone take care and have a great day

MC - keep your feathers dry and Lurch between the lines. You are the only chicken I really do like!
Evening all.
We had some sightings of a tornado today apparently by some trained weather spotters in our county. We were headed into Lafayette at the time, so we weren’t in the path of the storm, but we sure could see it!
Now the skies are broken, and all sunny and with good lighting.
See you all later!
Justin

DC: Will keep an eye out for that one. If you haven't seen it - take a good look at Las Animas Jcn (re-arranged); North Junction/Springfield is missing and all the fuel tanks at LJ are gone. Machovec is totally different (and take a look at all the hydraulic switches below Las Animas Junction). Vroman and Ruxton extensions are on hold. Stratford has quite a big connection track addition. New Elevator at Walsh and there are changes in Pueblo Yard.
(at least you won't be stranded in lower east armpit, er-um Boise City, the depot even got out of town.)

Am off to Colorado for Memorial Day week. Down where the BNSF loaded coal trains head toward TX.
MC, do you have any advice about where to go or not go? I am not talking about dins of inequity but any new RR events or new construction.
This September the American Assn. of Private Rail Car Owners are having their annual convention at the Pueblo Union Depot. There will be twenty or more private cars parked in Pueblo. Following the Pueblo events (9-20 to 9-22) their special (Amtrak operated) train will depart Pueblo on 9-23 for La Junta, then through Las Animas Jct. and Boise City, OK to Amarillo where it will overnight. Then on 9-24 it will depart AMO for Clovis, Belen and arrive in ALB the evening of 9-24. MC, I may be riding some of that (will decide later) so if you are in the vicinity we can meet for reminiscing and maybe a bite to eat.

Does Boss Hen know about "Savanna" whats-her-name?
