How about college? Not all of us can frolic in the warm sunshine to our heart's content.

.....No, nor can many other people.  But as you said, you will be able to in 2 weeks.

The good thing about college is that the days are not as long as in high school. If your schedule is well-balanced, there are only two or three classes per day, as opposed to seven or eight in high school. Plus, I've got a nice campus to explore when I'm not in class. The situation could certainly be worse, I'll admit that much.

Four loads of brush to the transfer site (they'll chip it up for mulch), and a trip to town for 7 arbor vitae to go where the hedge was along the fence.  All i have to do is take up a couple of stumps before i can plant the trees...  Enough yard work for today, though.

Time to get cleaned up and head back to town for the PBS auction again.

Whew.....

After dropping truck off at shop for service, went to parents house to do some fire tending.  Dad and sisters' boyfriend hacked up and burned about four or five trees yesterday, and fire was still going this afternoon.  Raked the limbs that didn't burn into fire, and raked up the coals a bit to get everything to burn, though at rate it's going, it will be burning until Wednesday (note to self:  Never give a man who works for Asplundh a chainsaw and tell him to go to town on a tree clearing job).

Got a call from the shop a while ago, looks like I might be home tomorrow as well, shop is swamped, and it might be tomorrow afternoon before they finish.  Oh well, will worry about it later, time for some dinner...

See everyone later....

Hmmmm.   Could have used him here, but there are some trees in the yard I'd prefer to leave standing...

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  Sounds like some of you had very a very interesting day yesterday.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs and toast are prepared and on the serving station.

Guess I'll see you all sometime after I get back from Tuesday Produce.  I really, really need to get my back exercises in today.  I was very naughty, and did not do any of them Sunday or Monday. ( Bad Paula, Bad Paula)  Everyone have a good morning, and take care.

Morning all!

We got a little free time this morning, so I thought I would drop in and say hi, and get some breakfast.

The warm weather has seemed to go away for a while here. It’s only 52* right now. I hope it warms up soon!

See you all later!Big Smile

....I'm a car guy, but......it looks a bit suspicious.  If it's real, it sure does seem a bit crude....almost like a company trying to copy a US model......meaning possible Russian.  Anyway, that's my wild guess.

Bob, you've got me stumped!

Produce went well this morning.  Truck was semi early again this week.  It showed up about 6, 7 minutes before 9.  They brought us cabbage, eggs, potatoes and romaine lettuce.  Since we have enough lettuce and eggs on hand, I only brought home a bag of potatoes and a head of cabbage.  Attendance was down today, as we only had 49 people.

Our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta menu is now on the serving station:

Tacos, burritos, chimichangas, fajitas, Chipotle chicken wraps, smoked cheddar bacon burgers, along with Spanish rice and lettuce w/chopped tomatoes.  And we have the tortilla chips with the regular dips:  picante sauce, salsa and con queso.

Now, I'm off to do laundry, and get my back exercises in for today.  Will try to make it back in later on this afternoon, or early evening.

Good afternoon everybody. 73 and overcast in Carolina, and the boffins say we may get some rain later tonight. Again with the headache. I am about ready to blame the pollen, which means we sure do need the rain. We shall see if that helps. Everyone take care

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  We have a current temp of 49 degrees here in Louisville this morning.  Supposed to see a high in the low 70s today, with more clouds in the sky.

Coffee, juices and other assorted morning beverages are fresh and ready to go, and there's hot water for our hot tea drinkers.

On the  serving station this morning:  bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, bagels and bear claws.

Now, I'll head off to check my email, and then get ready to go to PT this morning.  And for lunch today, there will be various meatsand fixings put out for you all to make your own subs/hoagies for lunch.

Everyone have a good day and take care.

The radiator of the car looks, to my memory, rather like that of a Triumph car, most likely the Mayflower.  They were unusual in being very angular and consequently costly in terms of machinery to build.  There was a larger, more expensive version called The Renown.

Look them up on Google:  very interesting cars, made in Coventry, England.

Good morning, it's Wednesday. Thanks for breakfast. 55 and cloudy in Carolina an hour after sunrise. We got the majestic total of .01 inch of rain last night. I have the boat ready in case the creek rises...

Been watching the Roarnoke railcam, and have pinpointed the source of one of the on again/off again lights. It is still doing it after sunrise. Maybe the cloudy weather makes it more noticeable.

Paula, I hope the PT goes well for you. Been there done that!

Everyone have a great day.

Thank you for the reply. You are so very right. The car is perched on a raised platform on US1, just south of Swainsboro Georgia.

Tom....I looked for the light you mentioned, but could not find it.  I looked especially after dark.  Wonder why we never see the two staff's with each carrying 3 red railroad signal lights change....They seem to always be red.....{Over to the upper right of the pic.}

To those of you who live within a day's journey to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, our local HO scale railroad club, the Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society will be hosting an open house out at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. We are more or less located in the northwest corner of the fairgrounds, and behind the old national guard armory.

We have one of the best railroad club layouts in this region of the country and it fills a space of 30' x 50'. Our operating hours for Saturday, I think will be from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, same hours for Sunday, although I should have written the figures down to be fully accurate!

Otherwise, our next open house will take place during the week of the Sioux Empire Fair in August.

Quentin, if you look at the signals on the near cantilever, you will be able to find the light. Directly above the right pair, and showing above the parking garage, you will see two structures, one light grey and the other red brick to the right of it. The light is situated at the far left top of the brick one. It was shining at 3:05 pm this afternoon for several minutes. Regarding the pair of three tier signals, I have seen the top showing yellow as a train approaches changing to red as the engine passes. The far cantilever signals show green from time to time. HTH

Ok Tom....I'll be looking again.  I have just turned to the cam twice in the last 10 min. and saw a train each time.  First one:  open hopper {emptys}, heading west, and just now: a double stack train east bound.

PT went pretty good, although I learned three new exercises today, that deal with strengthening the back.  One of those, I don't like at all, but I'll do it anyway.

Mudchicken, sounds like you've about had with said hail.  I hope you haven't had any softball size hail.  That would really hurt!

Supper tonight:  A mixed medley of things:

1.  Sloppy joes w/fries and garden salad

2.  Meat loaf, green beans, corn on the cob and mashed taters w/gravy and garden salad

3.  Tacos and chimichangas

Everyone enjoy and have a good evening.  Take care!

.....Ok Tom.....Saw the light come on at 7:43 pm EDT.  Was watching an eastbound covered hopper train and just as it passed, I noted the light come on.  Not blinking, just steady.

What a beautiful day....!  Sunny and mild temps.....and no humidity to mess with {like we will later}.  No A/C to mess with....Windows open.....Sure would be perfect to have weather like this year around.

Another yard mowing and cleanup......Jean planted some flowers.  Got some of my tools in better order on the peg board....

Edit:  And another open hopper {empty}, train westbound at 8:13 pm.

And Tom....The light is out at the above time now...

Edit:  Two engines just passed {8:31}, and no ditch lights burning....
