Evenin' everyone.  What a beautiful day it's been.  We've been out in the front yard, working.  Walt trimmed the small burning bush, the rose bush, and the holly bush.  I picked up the pieces, and put them in a garbage bag, and Sarah trimmed the high spots.  Now, she's washing the Jeep.  And I have our supper on the stove, here at home:  my own version of Hamburger Helper Beef Noodles.

Tom and Joe, thanks for taking care of the move!  Everything looks great, and it looks like you all managed to get everything moved, including all the layouts, the rockers, hammock, juke box and CD/tape player.  And Joe, thanks for arranging the cubbards.

Everyone have a terrific evening, and I'll see you all in the morning.  Then, we'll be getting ready to meet Bob and Barb.  Take care!!

Nice digs.  Time for bed, though, so I'll just have to check things out in the morning...

We hit 80 degrees for the first time since September 27th here in Omaha today. It felt wonderful, if not a little too warm.

I'll need to dig into my bag of tricks and see what I can come up with for April Fool's Day.

Good Thursday morning, everyone, and Happy April's Fool Day!  (Hopefully, no one will be playing any April Fool jokes on us!  It is going to be a really beautiful day today:  plenty of sunshine, and nice, warm skies.  We have a current temp of 64 degrees, and I hear the birds a singing outside.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages fresh and ready to go.  Plenty of hot water for our hot tea drinkers.

On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits and gravy, and there's several kinds of cereal on the counter.

We are really looking forward to meeting Bob Vaughn and Barb!  Can hardly wait.  So, I'll leave some sandwich fixings for you all to have for lunch today.  And please let me know what you'd like to have tonight for supper.  Maybe we can fire up the grills this evening?

Everyone enjoy your morning, have a great day, take care, and keep safe.

My visit at the quack's office went well, even if I did misread the time and showed up an hour early.... He said I should make it through tomorrow, at least and I said that was fine. I have been spending some quality time with my girls, and some on the wireless. It could be a good week except for one thing.... At present, 84 and sunny in Carolina with more of the same scheduled for tomorrow. We'd better enjoy this whilst we can, cuz before long, it will be HOT!

Willy got his April fool joke on facebook and caught us unawares. Shame, Willy. Bad boy, bad boy!

Everyone take care and enjoy the weather

Tom, it's good to know that your dr. visit came out well.

Willy, I haven't seem facebook yet, but if I go by what Mookie and Tom posted here, shame on you!!!!Wink

We have been home about 45 minutes, and had a very enjoyable time with the two Bs.  Walt took a couple of pictures, and he'll be posting them, probably sometime this evening.  Right now, he's ridden his bike to the library.  Took back books he's finished reading, and probably bring more books home!  It was so very nice to meet Bob and Barb.  Two very fine people.  Wish we could have spent more time with them, but they needed to get back on the road.

For this evening, I think I'll fire up the grill, and we'll have:

burgers, brats, corn on the cob,  baked beans, green beans, broccoli/cauliflower mix, potato salad, cole claw and macaroni & cheese

You all have good afternoon, and take care.

Stopped at the fire station on the way home from the post office this morning, and just got home.  And we didn't have a single call.   We've got a new station/equipment management program which I couldn't get to load properly, so I called for tech support.  Good thing they were able to get into our computer remotely, or I'd have a phone glued to my ear.

The tech rep got everything loaded, but it's still not running properly.  Next week....

Fire meeting tonight.  Gotta be there so I can avoid being nominated for any offices...

evening

well we made a couple trips to town and did some chores around here today.Took Matt to the old park and Csx ran a few trains. The maw hauled some coal cars that were in storage in liberty center to defiance. They went into emergency as they crossed to put the cars in the siding for Csx to pick up.So they left the engine on the point and went home for the day to try again tomorrow. Was also reminded that I am not a young lad anymore but thanked the teenage lads for a good game of basketball at the park anyway.Going to sleep  good with the windows open tonight.Cw thanks for supper.

Well, as CW said, she, Sarah and myself got to meet and talk to/with two very fine people today. Just very sorry we didn't have more time to talk, but they had to get on the road and meet up with some more people today. Here's a picture of Bob (spokyone) and his Lady Barb outside of the restaurant before they headed to places East of us.  Thank You Bob and Barb for a Great Day!!

Walt, I don't know if I will ever have the pleasure of meeting this couple, but I would bet a quarter that they are very nice people, based on the limited contact that I have had with Bob through emails.

Another project - getting to meet more of the folks from the forums...

Fire meeting was largely uneventful, but it did include nominations for officers for the next year.  I'll be back under a white hat as second assistant chief.

Gonna be tough deciding what to do tomorrow.  It's supposed to be nice, but I have stuff I should be doing inside, too...

I keep thinking how neat it would be to visit the Adironack Scenic some Saturday without giving you advance notice, walking up to you and looking you square in the eye (which most people can't do!), and saying, "Hi, tree68!"

Good Friday morning, everyone.  As you can tell, I slept in this morning a little bit!  Think I needed it, after getting all that good fresh outside air yesterday.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Mookie, here's your coffee mug.

On the serving station this morning:  A selection of doughnuts/danish/muffins, bagels and bear claws.

Mookie, want to go out to the garden this morning, and watch the trains go by?  It's a beautiful morning to do just that!  Temp is is the mid 60s, going for a high in the mid 80s today.

Everyone have a good morning, and take care.

Somebody is going to have to keep track of who has run into whom in their travels one of these days and plot it out. Methinks Lincoln or Chicago might have lotsa links.

Get to go visit the Air Force constabulary and see if I am worthy enough to count cars going in and out of a main gate nearby over easter weekend. (Red one, green one, blue one....)

Willy, the folks west of us want to talk to you. (40 car pileup on I-70 closed the road in a raging snowstorm)....we were supposed to get rain from that same storm and got nothing, except a red flag warning. http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_14801369?source=pop_section_news

and Kitchi the otter stll remains on the lam from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo....

It's 58, cloudy and very nice.  Snow staying in So Dak; rain in KS; zip in NE except for maybe a stray shower.  That's fine.

Brian - I have met you, so think you and Tree could very well see eye-to-eye.

CW - yesss - to the patio - have already heard some train activitiy.

MC - should we "otter" be looking?  Sorry BC - this one was mine.  You get the next one.  Think also that the the businesses that clean up after wrecks and rebuild or repair railroad cars should have seen their stocks rise considerably.  Seems to be a rather nasty time of year.

CW - stay home and just wait.  They will come eventually.  Some regularly; some just out of curiosity.

Tree - had a good scenerio for you here in town and se NE yesterday.  Telephone switch and backup switch failed.  Took out a huge part of the city - including 911 for 11 hours.  Had the ham operators mobilized, cell phones handling what they could and me - oblivious that the Driver was trying to call me and geting a busy signal.  He finally went to the one sure place he could get me - e-mail!  Big Smile

As usual, the outages we have are always on a beautiful sunny day.  Squirrel chewed thru line; switch failure; cable cut.  Some brainiac will decide beautiful sunny days are bad for communications and elec/gas and will want to outlaw them.

Good Friday to all....

Another sunny, nice morning here in central Indiana.....Actually, much earlier....we were warmer than Orlando, Fl.

Screens in some of the windows here now....and some windows were open all overnight....Blossoms are coming out strong now....beautiful white ones.  Yard is great....nice dark green....Next, will be... head to the carwash with the truck.

Have heard several trains in the distance from us this morning, meaning NS and CSX.

Surprised to hear of the nasty amount of snow out in the Dakota areas....

I can remember back at least 25 years ago on april 6th....here in Munice, a photo in the morning paper of a fellow out with his one horse sleigh.....He was pushing it a bit, but there was a little bit of snow that morning.  But far from that currently.  Birds tweeting, Spring smells....much to like.

Afternoon, all.  Mookie, after our time in the garden this morning, I went in, laid down, and slept for about two hours!

But I now have our Friday Fish Fry on the serving station, and it'll be replenished every little bit:

FISH: Alaskan Cod, perch, salmon steaks, halibut, haddock, Talapia

SIDE DISHES:   Cole slaw, corn on the cob, baked beans, fries, hush puppies, breaded fried mushrooms, macaroni and cheese, 3-bean salad

DESSERTS:  Chocolate cake w/chocolate icing, Yellow cake w/caramel icing, pecan pie, and apple, cherry and peach cobblers.

Everyone enjoy this beautiful afternoon, and see you all later.

Afternoon! I had to take one of my girls to the vet today and we just got back. She is taking medicine and on a diet to lose weight. Turns out, she gained a pound! That's no good, but kinda like the results I get when I try it.

85 degrees in Carolina. It is time to plant the crops, and hopefully, the real cold is gone. The flowers is flowering and the trees is leaving, birds are abundant in numbers and the squirrels are showing up in the yard. I love this time of year.

Everybody stay cool

Afternoon/evening everyone....

Apparently, Kalmbach is playing an April fool on me, as it won't let me access subscriber content, even though I have a subscription.  We will see what happens with customer service....

Might have to have a talk with Willy as well, like the warm weather, but we could do without the 30MPH wind, made driving interesting, though all I did was a quick 200 mile run.

Will take a Good Friday fish fry today, and will celebrate someone's 90th birthday if he was still alive.  On April 2nd, 1920, in Santa Monica, CA, a young man was born.  This man became a great radio and TV star, and set the mold for all police shows to follow.  I'll take a few guesses first before I reveal the name of this person.

Hint:  The story you are about to hear is true.  The names were changed to protect the innocent.

Good hunting, and see everyone later....
