Although he was technically my daughter's dog, he came back to live with me after she married.  He would have been 12 in September.

Alas, the nerve condition that affected his hindquarters was progressive, and he could not longer walk on smooth surfaces or up steps, meaning trips to the back yard involved carrying him out and back in.  In a show of determination today, however, he managed to make is way unsteadily from where I'd left him basking in the sun to the back porch this afternoon.

As we waited at the vets, he stood there (with a little help), taking it all in, tail wagging as always.

It'll be a bit before I  stop reflexively looking for him when I come into the house...

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Larry, so sorry to hear about the Dal.   To this day, I still look around for a few of our pets who have gone over Rainbow Bridge.  Sad

Weather wise, we have 73, 74 degrees this morning, going for a high of 77 today.  Have some rain/storms that will be moving in late this afternoon, which will cool us off about 20 some odd degrees tomorrow.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Coffee just finished dripping into the carafe.  I have fixed up some sausage/egg/cheese biscuits for breakfast this morning, along with the bagels and bear claws, and the rest of the normal breakfast menu.

Everyone have a good morning ,and let me know if you have a request for our noon and supper meals.

Gonna go sleep with Joe....wait a minute - that didn't come out right!  Blush

We have rain also.  And north winds.  And not a pretty day.  And I am sleepy, even after a cup of coffee.

But - we don't have to shovel this.  Sent all that to Kansas!  I am grateful for small things!

I have a date afternoon with the Driver.  We are going to go out for pizza.  Home by 5pm.  That is an old people's date, younguns....

Well, it sounds like it all worked out. You had the Red Flag Warning, but then the hail, snow, and colder temperatures came and viola, no more fire danger. Problem solved!

Enough already MC. Back when we slayed dinosaurs before setting up the transit (1956 and yes it was a Gurley transit) we went to work on a motor car. Weather take the hindmost.

Left LJ after the three morning passenger trains had arrived and could hardly see the upper quad semiphores because a front was moving in after clearing Palmer Lake hill.  As we rode to Hilton it kept getting worse and the decision was made by the Transitman (I was the chainman then) to turn back to Las Animas. No. 123 had carried a green flag and the line up said three hours late, so we called the DS from the Hilton phone. He said 123 was stopped at Lamar so we tried to out run it to Las Animas. The semiphores were becoming difficult to see and the motor car indicaters could only protect for two miles so we were nervous as we went west, bucking a head wind now. Finally we set off east of LA Junction and 123 came by within three minutes. So I am difficult to impress with today's weather stories.

Now I will share some of CW's fine breakfast and await the next weather story.

Evening, all.  I've been busy today, taking a computer chair over to friend, going to the library, taking a nap.  All good things to do, right?

Here's our supper menu for tonight:

PIZZAS:  1.  Cheese; 2.  Anchovie;  3.  Pepperoni/mushroom; 5.  Supreme;  6.  Goetta;  7.  Supreme;  8.  Italian sausage

Turkey *** w/green beans or broccoli w/cheese sauce, savory herbs stuffing

DESSERTS:  1.  chocolate cake; yellow cake w/chocolate icing; apple cobbler w/ice cream

Did receive something in the mail today from Defiance, OH.  But we haven't had a chance to watch it yet.  Hopefully, later this evening.  (All three of us, since Sarah will be home tonight.)  She has been at CSX all afternoon, doing her POD training, for going back to work.

Everyone have a good evening, stay dry, if you can, and you all take care!

Worked a charter train today - a "leadership" group took a ride up the line with us and had lunch at a rebuilt depot, along with ice cream from a nearby shop (which also catered the lunch).  Plenty of interfacing with CSX and the local shortline, not to mention a concurrent Amtrak arrival or two.  Great fun!

Wet here at the house all day (.4 inches worth, so far), but we escaped down around Utica with some clouds and a few sprinkles.  That's good.  I hate switching in the rain...

We have 30 degrees here in my home town this morning. Maybe I will get my yard cleaned up later this afternoon. It is supposed to warm up to about 60.

Good Thursday morning, and Ray, thank you for fixing breakfast this morning.  I was up, just didn't come to the computer after getting my morning coffee.

Joe, the video is very good!  We watched it last  night.  For some reason, we couldn't play it on the computer (and our DVD/VCR combo is on the fritz), so Sarah put in her laptop.  Very nice video!!

Well, pondering what to fix for our lunch/supper menu.  I'll take any suggestion you all can give me.  Maybe, since we'll be closed here tomorrow, we can do our Friday Fish Fry a day early?  Whatever you all want, is fine with me.  Just let me know.

I guess it's a good thing Kalmbach's site will be shut down, as I have to be ready to be picked up for my first actual therapy session at 7:30 in the morning.

Currently, we have a temp in the low 50s, supposed to get up to about 58 degrees today.  Very cloudy and overcast, after the storms last night.

Everyone have a good  morning, and I'll see you all later.  Take care!

Our forecast for today is just to be cloudy and cooler.  Earlier, it was 52 and now we have 47.

Tomorrow it becomes warmer again and sunshine or partly sunny forecast thru next Wednesday.  Blossoms and leaves are pretty now and more still more on the way to maturity.

Edit:  Now looking back on our day, we had quite a bit of sunshine too, but the air is cool with a bit of wind.  8:33 pm.

I've been on the phone with Kodak customer service (in India).  Our printer is still under waranty, so they are sending us a new printhead.   Should arrive early next week.

Since no one gave me any suggestions, I've decided, since none of us will be here tomorrow, due to maintenance, we will have our Friday Fish Fry today.

We have the usual list of fish, and side dishes, along with the regular desserts of Yellow cake w/chocolate icing, pecan pie and the usual cobblers.

As Quentin said, we have cloudy skies, and it's very breezy (windy) outside.  Our projected high for today is 57.

Hope everyone has a good afternoon, and I'll see you all later.

Just got done with a Calculus test on integrals, improper integrals, finding volumes, finding arc lengths, finding surface areas, and determining if sequences and series converge or diverge. Too much for one exam, if you ask me.

It's a nice day, so I think I'll do some train watching on my way home from school. Hope everyone has a good weekend while the forums are down!

Willy: Red flag warning is right back up (Somebody forgot to turn off the wind!)

Managed to avoid plaing "Demolition Derby" on I-25 yesterday between Denver & Colorado Springs in the snow. Almost could not go home after I-25 was closed after a tank truck rollover and 3000 gallons of spilled gasoline. (17 hour workday, snow flurried again last night)

Thunder here, and a little gust front that took out a couple of trees nearby.  Not much rain, though - that stayed north.

Well, we did manage to see a little bit of sun today; but with the very cool breeze, when I went to the grocery, I wore my ski jacket and my insulated tobaggon hat.  I was comfortable.

Everyone have a good evening, a good weekend, and see you all back here Monday?

Willy, haven't I spoken to you about avoiding impropriety?Smile

That does look like quite an exam; train watching would be a welcome relief.

Unfortunately, the trains didn't cooperate very well. There were only two, which is better none, but a couple more would have been nice. Either way, it was nice to just sit and do nothing for a change.

We had nice weather today--the low was in the upper thirties, and some areas had a high about sixty. The snowfall earlier this week helped the northern Utah water level, but some skiers were a bit unhappy Monday and Tuesday, because they were stranded up Little Cottonwood Canyon, and not allowed to go outdoors because of avalanche danger. Alta, near the top of the canyon, receive four feet of new snow. Wednesday morning, many came back down to the valley after it was determined that the highway was safe. We had one to two inches out here in the valley.

Thanks for the snow, Willy.

Well, I did all right with my first physical therapy session.  It wasn't much:  lying on my back, and twisting to the right, hold for a count of 20, twist to the left, hold for a count of 20, do for three minutes.  Lie on back, bend knees so feet are flat; being knee up to chest, hold for count of 20, same with other knee, do three minutes.  Started out sitting in chair, with heat to my back.  Ended up sitting back in chair, with ice to my back.  (Heat felt great, felt like an icicle with the ice to my back, though.)  I have to do these exercises twice a day, every day.  But I can take one day a week off, and not do them.

I'm kind of surprised that I was able to log in.  Have they already gotten through installing the new software, or are they running late?

Paula, I hope that you will get much good out of your PT sessions. Ricki feels that she has not really profited by hers (but she is different).

I, too, was surprised that I could get to the forums today.

I need to make the weekly trip to buy groceries.
