Mookie, I poked him, and we will be dining tonight on meat loaf, mashed taters & gravy, garden salad, brussels sprouts and crescent dinner rolls w/butter.

Dessert:  angel food cake w/confetti icing, lemon merangue (sp?) pie, and yellow cake w/chocolate icing.

Walt and Sarah are getting the bikes loaded on the Jeep on the bike rack, and preparing to go for their bike ride.  I will be here at home, fixing the meat loaf, etc. for supper.

I like Mutt's taste!

Dog is whining badly at me at the moment....

Ok I gave him a treat, and he is better.  Well, I'm proud to annouce that I'm now a second class Boy Scout! I advanced last Thursday. Now I will be working on my first class rank requiremants.

I'm also glad to say that the track laying portion of my layout is almost over! I have one more box of flex track comming, on Wednesday evening. It's easy to lay once you get the hang of it. Next the landscapers will be comming in to put down scenic foam.

Well yall have a good evening!

Evening all.....

Busy week again, will have logged another 3300 or so miles this week, after delivering in York, PA, tomorrow morning.  Am now at Carlisle, PA, taking a break, will probably get rolling about 6am EST to make the 8am appointment.

Johnny, got the pictures, there definately was not much left of the car (and looks like the second Mack will need a new hood and bulldog).  Any word on the occupants of said car?

Ahh, comfort food for dinner, I like it, will hopefully be home this Friday night to partake in the real thing (don't worry, the virtual is great as well!!)

See everyone later.....

Well, an almost belated happy birthday to the resident mutt!

Meatloaf sounds like it was good, but I opted to take daughter and family (including 6 month old grandson) out to dinner.  He tried to help me eat my salad, but he's not up to lettuce yet - although he apparently does favor his veggies.

Heading for bed soon, to recover from two days on the concrete floor at the Syracuse train show.  I was decked out in my conductor's duds, which caused some confusion, since on of the members of that NRHS chapter routinely makes the rounds, in conductor's uniform, punching the vendor's name tags and handing out much sought after show pins.  I must have been asked 20 time if I was the one with the buttons.  Aside from my own, I wasn't.

'Nite, all.

Good Monday morning, all!  We have a very nice 52 degrees outside this morning, going for a high of 71 today.  Walt, I'm very glad you enjoyed your birthday!!

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are ready to go.  On the breakfast bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, and BLTs this morning.

This morning is not exactly 'doctor' day for me, but I do have to go back to the Center of Orthotics and Prosthetics, so they can check how I'm doing on the ankle/arch support brace.  Just in case I don't make it back in time for lunch, there's plenty of meat loaf, mashed taters w/gravy, etc., that is warming in the Crock Pot and Slow Cooker.

Everyone have a good morning, keep safe and take care.  See you all later.

Today is supposed to be the crown jewel of the week, with a high of 68, but if it doesn't rain the rest of the week, I can handle the 40's and 50's forecast for the end of the week.

Gotta re-mulch the bulb garden.  Didn't do it properly last year.  Everything came up, but that included more weeds than I would have had otherwise.

Meatloaf sounds good.

Back to the grind, tea and bearclaw in hand.

Cloudy and approx 70 degrees here right now. Weather guessers seemingly got it right for today, although their forecast called more for partly Sunny than partly cloudy. Our rain, or chances of are supposed to be late tomorrow. (maybe we can still get a few outside things done today, early tomorrow.)

....I did another mowing and leaf mulch this afternoon and about 3:30 I walked over to the electronic transmitter {to the indoor/outdoor} temp readout}, and it was reading 65 degrees.....Skies have been mostly gray after a beautiful sunrise here this morning.  It was pleasant working in the yard this afternoon.  Yard is all green once again.....Most of neighbors leaves are down, so perhaps that's the most of leaf cleanup for this season.

Randy, I asked my niece, and replied, "Sorry, Uncle Johnny, I don't have any information.  From the picture, I could tell it happened on the West Bank of the Mississippi River, in the New Orleans metro area.  It may have been in the town of Harvey, LA, and it is in West Jefferson Parish.  Date and time and result of the occupants is unknown to me."

It is obvious to me that all three vehicles were in a traffic lane. I do not see how anyone could have survived the impact. For many years I have heard that small cars may be wonderful on fuel economy, but they are extrememly short on crash worthiness.

Good evening, everyone.  My visit went well this morning.  We discovered I had lost one of the screws in my ankle/arch support brace.  It was replaced, and she (the tech) tightened all the screws.  And, unless the orthopedist wants something changed on it, or whatever, or it starts squeaking, I don't have to go back to them.  (When she  came to the waiting room to get me, I noticed she is on crutches.  It seems she broke her ankle a couple of weeks ago.  Seems to be doing pretty good on the crutches.

Supper tonight:  how about pork chops fixed on the grill, w/baked potatoes and salad?  Hope that is all right with you all, as that is what I have fixed for tonight.

Everyone enjoy, have a very good evening, and take care.  See you all later.

Paula, it sounds as though your day did go well. I'm glad to know that the missing screw was down low. Smile From you said about the tech, the lame were leading the halt. I trust she will soon be about without crutches soon.

I had a day that turned out well, though it was a long day at a surgery center. I went in at 6:30 for a colonoscopy which began about eight; before I was put to sleep, the surgeon looked at my backside and saw that I had an abcess that needed to be drained--and the abcess was a long-delayed reaction to the radiation that I had 3 1/2 years ago. The results of the colonoscopy were all negative; nothing untoward was found. After the abscess had been taken care of, I had my first solid food since breakfast yesterday--various types of crackers. We left the center after one p. m.

Thanks for the supper; it looks good.

Good Tuesday morning, all!  We are at a pleasant 52 degrees this morning.  Going for a high of about 65.  A bit cooler than the 75 degrees we've had the past few days, isn't it?

Roy, Mudchicken, and Cannonball, glad to see you all made it in here last night!  Johnny, very happy to hear that everything turned out all right for you yesterday, too!!

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are ready to go.  And on the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy.

Everyone have a very  good morning, keep safe and take care.  I'll see you all later, after I finish with Tuesday Produce.

Peace be with you. 61 and cloudy in Carolina this morning, calling for rain later. I somehow have been shanghaied into helping a friend set up her computer. This should be a riot. Last night, I told her she would need a splitter for the telephone line and she replied she had any size knife I needed..... Afterwards, the wife and I will hit our favorite restaurant on the way home. Sounds like a big day. Everyone take care.

Tempting at times, though.

A little cooler today, with a chance of showers.  Hopefully Ida will stay well south and east.

Tomorrow is (depending on your era and location) Armistice Day, Remembrance Day, or, in the US, Veteran's Day.  The "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" marked the official end of hostilities of the "War to End All Wars."  Take a moment to remember.

Rain in the Piedmont this morning, Temps about 58 with steady wetting of the lawn that has its share of leaves yet to be raked. I was a bit late this morning Miss Paula, but it was a good brunch. Some how scrambled eggs needs sausage and coffee or its really not a meal.

Uh, Thanks for the B-Day wishes, but I'm not sure about the "Dart Board" reference; we don't aim for, but hit it no matter. No good stuff for model R.R., actually no real good prototype stuff going on that day, either.

Depends on what kind of Track Warrant you want; But, I'm very sure the dispatcher will give you one for our railroad to enter the property.

I grew up with "Armistice Day." Generally, I do not like renaming National holidays, but since I realized that the "War to End All Wars" did not end all wars, I believe that "Veterans' Day" is the proper name, and I think of many people--three brothers, one niece and her husband, and my next-door neighbor, among others--who were in our armed forces as I hoist our flag on 11 November.

Armistice Day

Not to mention George S Patton Jr's birthday. He said that the armistice was the worst birthday present he ever had. Quite a fellow. We don't have military leaders of the vein of George Marshall, Eisenhower, Patton or McArthur this day and age.

It's raining bullfrogs here. Our friend cancelled the computer visit. She lives at the top of a hill and she says her yard is a mudhole and the dirt road to it is slick as glass, so we try later. OK by me, but I will miss out on the eats on the way home.

Everybody remember our vets tomorrow. Take care
