Please to remember the Fifth of November--Gunpowder, Treason and Plot! I see no reason for Gunpowder Treason EVER to be forgot! Happy Guy Fawkes Day, everybody!! Now, if we're good Brits, let's go out this evening and join in a party that is burning a Guy. (My mother learned the rhyme from the children of British missionaries when she was a small girl in Japan, more than a century ago.)

Good afternoon, everyone.  Mookie, our minds must be on the same wave length today:  I went grocery shopping also, and tomorrow will be laundry day.

Since the weather is so nice and sunny, even though it's on the breezy side, Mutt and I have fired up the grill, and you will find on the warmer bar:  steaks, pork chops, baby back ribs, chicken, brats and burgers, along with corn on the cob, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad (American and German).  There also are brussels sprouts and broccoli w/butter sauce and green beans.

Everyone enjoy, have a good, safe evening and you all take care.

Good Friday morning, everyone.  Gee, I wonder if anyone will be in here this morning, since no one was in at all last night.  Disapprove  Everything from the grill and warmer bar has been thrown out, it's in the garbage now, and grill, warmer bar and all the dishes are cleaned up.

We have a current temp of 38 degrees here in Louisville this morning.  Supposed to get up to about 68 this afternoon, with plenty of sunshine.  Looks like it's going to be a beautiful autumn day.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready.  On the warmer bar, you'll find bagels, bear claws  and muffins.

I don't know what to think about the shootings at Ft. Hood yesterday.  Heard this morning, that he wounded 31 people, then heard 32, then back down to 31.  With the count of 32, were they including the gunman, after the police officer shot him?  My sympathy and prayers are with all the family members and the entire base.  Not trying to sound crass or anything, but I think that psychiatrist needs a psychiatrist.  Hopefully, he'll get the help he needs.

Good morning. It's plumb cold in Carolina this morning. 37 degrees at sunrise, and we've got frost on the punkin and everything else. Thanks for breakfast, and I may just sit in the corner with my root beer and contemplate something. Everybody stay warm and safe

Yuk.  Don't think I feel bad because I had two flu shots last night (although it could be a consideration).  I think it's just that it's Friday and the end of a looooooonnnnnnnnngggggggg week.

On the up-side, the CNY-NRHS train show in Syracuse is this weekend and we cancelled a fire department drill for Sunday, so I might go down both days...

If there's room in the corner booth, I'll conspire with you while I partake of my tea and bearclaw.

Mid afternoon and 53.8 in temp with mostly sunny conditions.  Just returned from our mall and it sure is full of Christmas....Excellent fish, crackers w/butter, cherry pie....{ummm good}, and coffee for lunch. {At our MCL}, cafeteria.  They really do have consistent good food.  But it is not cheap.....and I'm not complaining since it is good food.

Even got to drive along side an east bound CSX train as we were headed west just out of Muncie to our west side home.  Plus, ran truck thru the car wash.  Now it's time to check around on here for a while.

Good evening. I enjoyed contemplating something with you guys, but it seems to have given me a headache. We need to do it again soon. My desktop thermometer (weatherbug) is on the fritz and lying to me. Although the settings are correct, it seems to be giving me the temp for Havana.... Everybody take care and have a great weekend

I finally gave Weatherbug the heave ho and went back to The Weacher Channel desktop weather and that solved the problem. The old one was about 17 degrees off. We shall see how long this one works as it should. Killing time on the wireless till the wife gets home from helping with the twins and have had a fairly good and interesting evening. Take care, stay warm.

Good Morning.  Its 59 here in Alamo City with very thick fog.  Hopefully it will burn off before long.

Once the fog does burn off its supposed to be sunny and the temp is expected to reach 81.

We'll be headed to Wurstfest in New Braunfels, Texas later today:  http://www.wurstfest.org

Enjoy your Saturday!

Good afternoon, everyone.  Sorry about getting in here so late.  But we've been pretty busy here around the house.  Getting ready for 'company':  Mutt's sister is on her way down here from Northern Kentucky, and we'll be celebrating Mutt's birthday a day early.  Could I have some help getting birthday decorations up this afternoon, or tonight?

Joe, thanks for taking care of breakfast this morning.  I will try to be back to take care of tonight's pizza menu, but just in case, could one of you get them out of the freezer, and pop them in the oven?  At least two extra large of each kind ( they are labeled, so you'll know which ones are which.  I made them all up last night, so no one has to worry about freezer burn on any of them!

Everyone have a very enjoyable afternoon, and see you all later.

Happy birthday Mutt, even if it is early. Nice day in Carolina, cloudy and 67 degrees. Tonight is BBQ ribs and seafood night, so won't be in later. Paula, I can't help with the decorations, too gimped up, but will be glad to supervise.... Who remembers ROUND AND ROUND SHE GOES, AND WHERE SHE STOPS NOBODY KNOWS? Everybody stay warm and safe

Tom, Thanks for the "Well Wishes" ; today has been very good weatherwise and Otherwise! It was very great to see my Sis for awhile. Even though we don't live that far apart, (120miles) it's still very hard to schedule things due to different life styles.

And I do remember that quote; sort of reminds me of how people live and take life, before and after injuries. Or as I can remember it better as a song that John Denver wrote and sang; "Some Days Are Diamonds, Some Days are Stone". Today has been a "Diamond Day", hope tomorrow is also so we can get a decent bike ride in. (and get a bit of Railfanning in also!!)

CW is out for a few right now, so I guess I'll go ahead a put out the Pizzas for tonight.

We'll be having the usual; Hawaian, Supreme, Extra Cheese, Extra Mushroom and whatever else is back in the kitchen.

I have to gig you on the quote. At one time, it was very famous. Unless Denver incorporated it into a song, and if he did, he borrowed it. Any takers? Quentin? Johnny?

Tom, I did remember it from way back, but I had no idea as to the origin. I knew of Major Bowes, but never did hear his show.

It may have been taken up by some later personality, but I could not have told you.

Quentin and Johnny are correct. The Major Bowes original Amateur Hour ran from 1934 through 1952 on radio. The major died in 1946 and his announcer, Ted Mack took the show over and ran it until 1952, then took it to TV as the Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour until about 1970. Him I remember. The phrase was concerning a wheel of fortune spin at the beginning of the show. Now you know the rest of the story!

Well Tom, if he didn't write it, he sure did perform it; one of my first 8-track tapes had that song on it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WALT (MUTT)!!  Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day [bday

Hope it's an extremely good day for you.  I know the weather will be cooperating today, with a sunny high of about 74 this afternoon, for your birthday bike ride!

Joe, thank you for taking care of breakfast this morning.  Those cinnamon rolls sure do look good, and that's one of Walt's favorite things to have for breakfast, I do believe.

Everyone have a very good Sunday morning, be safe to those heading out to Church this morning, going to work, railfanning, or whatever you have lined up for this morning.  Take care, and I'll see you all later.

50 degrees now, and clear skies.....so that means a day of bright sunshine again today.

Wish Winter had these kinds of days as the norm, but of course there is no utopia as we know.  Even down south has it's down side at times.

And now a niece and nephew have told us they have found a Python just 12 miles from them.....and they live just 10 or so miles west of Deland....As most probably know, they are becoming a serious problem in southern Florida....Officials believe it started from people that had them as "pets", later released them out in the swamps and they multiply extremely fast....ugh....Terrible.

Speaking of the down sides of the south, Hurricane Ida is rumbling toward the Gulf Coast. A hurricane watch has even bee issued from Grand Isle, LA to the Mississippi/Alabama Border. Gotta love these late season surprises.

Happy birthday Locomutt!! Happy B-Day I hope you have a great birthday!
