Good afternoon. Running late, but here I am. 66 degrees and beautiful blue sky in Carolina. Not a cloud in sight. The girls like it so much that they won't come in. I wish Warren Buffet would take an interest in CSX and take it on too.... Everyone take care

Cannonball, my big time helper is John Deere.....It really has been a good product for my use.
And yes Johnny, if one doesn't let the leaf cover accumulate too thick, mulching works pretty well.

Yes, John Deere made a lot of friends. I haven’t kept up with his products since I finished high school, but I knew a little about them then.
There was a cotton grower near Denmark, S. C., who owned several of the A’s (or B’s; I don’t remember just which)–and none of them had an electric starter; the men who ran them had to grasp the flywheels and pull on them to start the engines. Since he did not have to start one, it did not bother him, but it certainly bothered the drivers, especially on a frosty morning. (This was told me by one of my classmates, who lived in Denmark until he had finished the seventh grade.)
I understand that John Deere stood behind all of his products, with one exception, which he might not make any more.

On top of that, we were all watching a refinery fir for a while from our perch on the 9th floor.
(Sorry about all the hot dogs and marshmellows getting looted from the larder)
mudchicken(Sorry about all the hot dogs and marshmellows getting looted from the larder)
Good Wednesday morning! Mudchicken, you can raid the larder any time you want! Were there any injuries in the refinery fire? I sincerely hope not.
Starting out at 40 degrees this morning, going for a high of 55 today, with sunshine.
Coffee, juices and our other morning beverages are ready, as well as hot water ready for hot tea and hot cocoa.
On the warmer bar this morning: oatmeal, toast, bacon, bagels and bear claws. (Woke up on the sick to the stomach side this morning, and don't want to look at too much food this morning.)
Everyone have a good morning, and I'll see you all later. Maybe one of you can give me an idea or two for lunch and supper menu.
CW: Nobody hurt, but Valero (who now owns the combined Conoco and Diamond Shamrock refineries) had one heck of a torch going for a while,
morning
Cw thanks for breakfast.hope you feel better soon.matt is on time and on the bus.time to get a nap.

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Sir Mud - think the railroads should go back to cow catchers? Maybe on the sides, too?
I'll take one of those hot dogs. Should be well done!
Joe - hear Ohio is getting some casinos. Wanna bet? Guess Nebraska will be going railroading even more! The morning paper is yelling - it is so excited!
And the UP is being very positive about the "acquisition". How nice in this day and age that competitors can be positive about something like this.
CW - 'tis the season. Switching from sorta hot to sorta cold - this year at least. I actually made meatloaf and mac & cheese (all from scratch) last nite - will put out the leftovers for lunch. Dessert will be yellow cake with chocolate Cool Whip frosting - maybe...
Off to do some much needed farming (on facebook). Always wanted a garden, but they are a lot of work. This is much easier! Don't have to cook the produce, either!
She who has no signature! cinscocom-tmw
Wow - eight threads on the first page (as I write this) about the BNSF deal.
Starting to get consistent nights below freezing now, with snow included in the forecasts. I don't see any major accumulations for the near future, but Ma Nature has a way of sneaking up on us, too...
Good morning for a bearclaw and some tea.
Big model train show in Syracuse this weekend. I think I'll do some advertising for the RR by wearing my uniform. Sunday it's hose test time with the fire department.
Next week's gonna be short - Wednesday is a federal holiday and Friday is my regular day off. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
Been tracking granddaughter's condition - she may have asthma (at 18 months) and spent the last two nights in the hospital. Hopefully she'll be home today.

Tree: re granddaughter, this may be something she will eventually outgrow. Let's hope this is the case.
They closed our fire station! Sept 24, they covered the sign and cleaned out the whole place! I really miss all the commotion and noise.
Reason - evidently sewer backup and plumbing problems. They completely cleaned it out and have been working on fixing the problem. Wish they would hurry. I don't sleep nearly as well without them "sirening out" about 3 am. Kind of like making trains noisless. Very comforting to know someone is out there in the wee hours.
MookieTree: re granddaughter, this may be something she will eventually outgrow. Let's hope this is the case.
Growing out of it has been the consensus on the "Facebook" comments by friends of my DIL. She's getting to the point where she will be able to communicate that she's having a problem, so we can hope that she'll be able to get treatment at home or wherever earlier and avoid an acute situation.
It's not a fire station, but I had to send my FD pager back in for repairs. Whatever they did last time didn't work. I feel kind of naked without it clipped to my belt. I still get the dispatches by cell phone (text), but that doesn't help at the house, where the cell phone doesn't get enough signal.
Mookie And the UP is being very positive about the "acquisition". How nice in this day and age that competitors can be positive about something like this.
Jen......Morning Muncie StarPress {in business section}, has a photo along with the BNSF Buffett purchase article....of Lincoln, Ne showing their BNSF RR yard with many parked engines. I looked, but did not see...{is it Millie}, parked along the fence.......
cherokee womanrefinery fire?
Fire? I thought they were watching a refinery Christmas tree (refinery fir).
Mooks:
(1) Want some mustard to go on that dog? I'm sure we can scavenge a bun from around here somewhere.
(2) RE: UP's Hunters On The R/W Warning from above: Maybe put a .50 caliber ball turret on the hi-rails and locomotives and let the railroad shoot back? (Where is our favorite crash test dummy Dan when you really need him?)

'Paintballs' for real would be fair enough . . .
Dan
Mookie, thanks for the meat loaf for lunch. Think I'll see if I can eat a little slice of it, think I'll bypass the cake for now. (You know I'm not feeling well when I turn down cake w/chocolate icing/frosting!)
Everyone have a good afternoon, and I'll try to make it back in later on.

MookieQuentin - if it is the one they had in our paper - that is exactly where I would want to be everytime I visited. Unfortunately, they get all excited when I try to go there.
You mean they are not glad to see you? They must not have had the proper raising.
Mudchicken is not the only one with refinery excitement in/near the Rockies. This morning, up in North Salt Lake, there was an explosion at a refinery. No personal injuries, the fire was put out in ten minutes, but several homes nearby were damaged so badly that they are unhabitable. It seems that a diesel fuel-carrying line began leaking and, somehow, the fuel came into contact with some hydrogen (no explanation has been given)--and, KABOOM! At first, I thought the report was about the refinery fir on the east side, then I realized that it was local.

Mr. Harmon - The one doing the super-secret stuff out in the leaky rowboat. (we need a new Kissymycinderfinder saga)
Update: Granddaughter home from hospital and bout with asthma.
Also found out I have to learn the "If you're happy and you know it" song/game before I visit in November....

tree68Also found out I have to learn the "If you're happy and you know it" song/game before I visit in November....
Larry, you can google "If you're happy and you know it", or just go to the electronics section of your nearest Kmart, Walmart, etc., and check out the kids' songs section. Although, they may have them in the Toy Department, too. Not sure. Haven't had the need to check that out for the last 8 years.
For supper tonight, there's some of Mookie's meat loaf, etc. left, and I have managed to fix the following:
1. Vegetable beef soup and 2. Cream of Broccoli soup w/your choice of PB&J, grilled cheese or tuna melt subs
Good evening and thanks for supper. It was a nice day in Carolina with partly clear skies and a high of 71. Right now, it is 62 outside. I am not within eyesight of the CSX "A" line, but can hear it well. There has been an awful lot of movement since last night. Things must be on the improve. Everyone sleep well and C U in the morning.
Good Thursday morning, everyone. I'm feeling a little bit better this morning, thank goodness! Looks like things were a bit on the slow side in here last night.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are ready to go, everythng freshly made. And regular breakfast menu items are on the warmer bar. Everyone have a good morning, take care, and I'll see you all later.
Good morning and thanks for breakfast. Paula, I am glad you are feeling better and hope you have a good day. I am up early after chasing the Chesterfield Islands on the wireless. Might as well have gone to bed! Everybody gave a great day.
good morning
Cw thanks for breakfast.Matt is on time and on the bus.he had a special homework assignment last night. They wanted him to make a time line of special events that has happened to him so far.For 2009 I sent a picture of him on the front of the 4449 at Steamfest.Speaking of other homework the weather guessers might get an "A" if the weather holds on like they say.Time to pay some bills and get a nap.
JoeKoh good morning Speaking of other homework the weather guessers might get an "A" if the weather holds on like they say.Time to pay some bills and get a nap. stay safe joe

And speaking of weather guessers, this weather guesser got a 100% on his third atmospheric sciences exam! Yay!
It is sunny and 43 degrees to start the day here in Omaha. We're headed for a high of 64 by late afternoon.
Not much else to report this morning. I hope everyone has a good day!
Willy
Willy - Congrats!
For some reason, I'm reminded of an old Bill Cosby routine in which his girlfriend is taking a philosophy course and was walking around asking "Why is there air?"
Bad question to ask a meteorology major....
Speaking of weather - holding on halfway decent here, although the radar does show menacing bits of pink and blue in our area.
Tough day in the area yesterday - a bad accident sent two to the hospital via helicopter, a fire at an apartment building claimed an elderly man, a state trooper from our area was killed in an accident downstate (shortly after joining his mother's victory party for a local political office), and a man died when his pickup went off the road and found a tree.
Live for today, for you know not what tomorrow will bring.
Tree: Yow! And I am not too sure you are all that populated to take that kind of a hit. Today groceries; tomorrow laundry. Yippee...
Willy - guess we can say your head is in the clouds? Congrats!
Looks like our weather is going to be nice thru the weekend. We will take it! November and 62 today - can't beat that with a stick.
