It's a cold Monday morning here and I'd almost rather go back to bed. We have a temperature of 25 degrees, it had rained last night and it ended up freezing. It's supposed to warm uo to about 31 degrees here later this afternoon.

It's that cold up that way?  WOW.  We've got 57 degrees here, with a forecast of thunderstorms for tonight.  The weather map on TV showed a cold front up that way, but they said it was actually receding until Wednesday, then look out!  I wouldn't be surprised if you got warmer than 31 today.

Very extensive layout - all in Legos.....  Many "mini-scenes."  I've got a couple of other pictures of it.  There were several "guest" layouts at the museum, all excellent.  Come to think of it - I'm not sure I saw them all...  We got there a little later than planned, and the 'outside' stuff closed at 4:30.  Still, it was nice to visit again.

I'm sure Mookie will report in, after she gets through a
mountain of paperwork that accumulated on her desk.  Mean-
while, we'll save her some lunch, for when she does make
it in here.  And speaking of lunch, here's the menu for
today:

tomato soup, vegetable soup, and PB&J, grilled cheese, and
tuna salad sandwiches are now ready.

Does anyone have and requests for supper tonight?  If so,
please let me know by 1, so I can start preparing for the
takeout orders, for the ones wanting to take some din-din/
supper home, or if you're on third shift, to take with you
to work.

I'm going to be doing lots of playing with the weather over the next few days. Today there is fog and a high of 35 degrees. Tonight, rain and thunderstorms with temps rising to near 50 by morning. Tuesday, partly cloudy and a high in the mid 60s. Wednesday cloudy with furries and a high of 30 and Thursday a high in the mid 20s. Weather is always such fun in Nebraska!

Just remember to put the weather machine back together the same way you found it. No extra parts, screws, nuts, bolts, washers etc. left over please....

Brian - No tornadoes any time soon, but when they do happen, I can try my hardest to keep them away from buildings and people. Probably won't do a lot of good, but it's worth a try. And Mudchicken, I never put the weather machine back together right. I just mix and match the parts so the weather is as crazy as I can make it!

I've lived through blizzards.  I've lived through earthquakes.  But I don't think that I even need the experience of trying to live through an tornado.  Nor am I particularly interested in experiencing a hurricane, a tsunami, a cyclone, a volcanic eruption, or even a major mudslide.  I lead a boring life, and I would just as soon keep it that way.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!  Right now, here in Louisville,
we are in the mid 40s, and we are to have a high today in the
70s. But scattered rain is due sometime tonight.

Coffee is ready, along with fresh orange juice, hot chocolate,
and hot tea.

Breakfast is on the warmer bar:  turkey bacon, sausage,
scrambled eggs, biscuits and sausage gravy.

Everyone have a great day, and I'll be back in after I get
through with the Tuesday Produce.

Good morning, folks. Right now it's raining here in Sioux Falls, and we have a temperature of 37 degrees.........at least it's above freezing. I'm getting ready for another day of bell ringing for the Salvation Army, and Hopefully I will not slip and slide all over the place while walking to work this morning. Yesterday morning we had a thin layer of ice covering everything out there, and our local police department responded to 47 auto accidents because of it.

Yesterday my supervisor with the Salvation Army told me that I had taken in fourteen-hundred dollars in donations at my kettle on Saturday, 11/25, and I feel pretty good about that. I like to think that I am helping to make a difference in the lives of a lot of people who are a lot less fortunate than I am.

I hope the rest of the forum members out there will have a good day!

Busy day at the higher learning institution, eh?

It's a very wet morning around here, rained all night and more is on the way.  I currently show 55 degrees on the local temp- tomorrow the bottom falls out of it.

Ah yes, at midnight it was 40 degrees with a dewpoint of 40 degrees, now it is 57 degrees with a dewpoint of 55 degrees. We're on our way to a possible record high this afternoon before, as Brian said, the bottom falls out of it. And there was also thunder and lightning last night along with a quarter inch of rain. Crazy Nebraska weather!

work, and rest a bit, with today's menu:

beef stew, cornbread, and chocolate cake.

ZING!!!!

Got an early christmas present from the bank yesterday, took me two minutes to write the check and mail off the final payment...  Six months early!!  One big bill down, a few left to go.

Not too much else new, it's about 55 degrees here, supposed to hit 60, then in the 50s tomorrow, then the bottom drops out and the snow flies.  Looks like winter is on its way.

See everyone later.

Okay everyone:  the next batch of beef stew and
cornbread is ready for the supper crowd.  And if
anyone on the West Coast would like some, there's
plenty for everyone!  So help yourself.

And Joe, there's two plates ready for you to take
to work with you.

It's supposed to drop to 28 degrees F. tomorrow morning in Sacramento. Shock [:O] It's 38 degrees F. outside as I type this.

I'm going to suggest that CW make a BIG pot of really hot beef stew for everyone here tomorrow because much of the entire country is headed for a very cold morning.

A good, frosty cold morning to everyone out there! CW is not here yet, so I've gotten the coffee started and I've mixed a fresh batch of orange juice, and the hot chocolate is ready.

It's 13 degrees in Sioux Falls, and with the wind blowing out of the NW at 17 miles per hour, it actually feels like 3 below 0. I'll be working another shift as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army today and I am assembling some extra cold-weather gear. The temperature here will max out at about 16 degrees this afternoon. The air here is too dry for any snow to develop.

C-O-F-F-E-E  and a new puter!

My paws hurt from so much typing!  Some one in higher authority planned a bowl game, a big 12 game, 3 mail campaigns (about 40-50K each) and numerous ways to get at me on line all at the same time.  What is wrong with doing some of this in July?

Anyway - have a couple of comments from North Platte.  Our garage still smells like cow manure; we saw an ES44 that some one had written (in the dirt) FORD on the fuel tank - my own private joke - An engine marked Cotton Belt - a thrill; UP #6344 in all gray with a red stripe; and lots and lots of SP engines.  Watched them hump lots of cars and even a couple of engines that went "whee" down those same tracks.....

Stopped at Cabelas in Sidney on Black Friday - (I tried to tell him!) They had the whole western part of NE stuffed in that one little building.  We made a lot of new intimate friends just trying to get from one aisle to another.

Weather was super! Had a Starbucks on the motel property that looked like a roundabout.  They had window service as well as inside service - and they too had most of western NE in there.

Found out where the deer go during hunting season - they mingle with the cattle!  Smart deer!  Had to come back to work to find a possum in the parking lot, however!  Saw 3 Archimedes Screws - working, too.  Fascinating.

I was a little disappointed in the fact that the railroads want to upgrade their image with the population, but they offer little in places that people could sit and watch the railroad at work.  We sat in a parking lot on one afternoon to watch the extensive traffic in and out of Bailey yard.  We went to the visitors center which was a joke.  Either you stand up on a platform and look through the trees or sit in your car if it is really cold and/or windy and look at  the trees.  Why put up an observation point and then plant trees all around it so you can't see anything from the ground?  NP and UP are you listening?

We saw better railroad traffic from highway 30 driving in and out of the city.

But all-in-all if you want to see a lot of trains and don't mind that they are all UP - visit North Platte - or surrounding areas on Highway 30.  Just don't get to gawking and run off the road.

Now for some much needed hammock time!

@

PS - saw no turkeys - except for the ones driving - and part of one on my plate Thursday!  Hmmpfff!

Ray, thanks for getting the coffee started, making the
juice and the hot chocolate.  And mudchicken, I've got
the hot cider going, also.

Mookie, WELCOME BACK!!  You were definitely missed around
here!

And speaking of the missing in action, I managed to get
in contact with our owner, JHH last night.  He's been
really busy, and hasn't had a chance to get online lately.
He did have Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday off, so he
went to see his parents in Missouri. He's doing well, and
Duchess now has a clean bill of health!!

A hot breakfast is on the warmer bar:  turkey bacon,
sausage, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, hot oatmeal, toast
and hash browns can be found there.

SactoGuy, I did make a humongous pot of beef stew yesterday,
so we've got plenty for today's lunch and supper.  All I
have to do, is make some fresh cornbread to go with it.

Are there any more requests for today?  If so, please let
me know.
