Hi all, greetings from my Mom's computer up in Prior Lake, MN.  We're certainly stuffed here, as my Mom never fails to disappoint when it comes to cooking.  Tomorrow Joanie and I are headed up to Cameron, WI to visit my brother, then Saturday we head back home- might even get a few train shots on the way along the river.  TTFN!

Good morning.

I had Thanksgiving dinner last night at my sister's house, and I ended up eating so much that I could probably go most of today without eating anything. At last report we had a temperature of 37 degrees here in Sioux Falls. I will be spending another day on shift, ringing a bell for the Salvation Army, and the temperature is supposed to get up to about 50 degrees later this afternoon. I suspect that the weather conditions here will go south on us within another week, if not sooner.

Today a lot of the stores in this town are open as early as 4:00 AM to allow people to take advantage of store bargains, and I think people are just nuts when it comes to that. It is kind of fun to watch the people file in and out of the stores while I am working. The Salvation Army should do very well in terms of how much money it takes in in the form of donations from the public today.

From where the Salvation Army has me working, I can hear trains, but I can not leave my post long enough to go watch them!Sad [:(]

Good Friday morning to all!  Well, I sure do thank you,
Joe, for getting things going here in the kitchen, and
I now have some breakfast ready for all you good folks.

On the warmer bar, you will find:  bacon, sausage, biscuits
and sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, or you can help yourself
to some doughnuts  that are freshly made, and on the counter.

I am even more thankful today, that I'm not still working
at KMart, and did not have to get out and be at work at
5:30 this morning, to prepare for the idiots who camped
out last night, to be one of the first to get through the
doors this morning.  I was always leery to go up to the door,
and ring the bell to get inside:  was always afraid someone
would try to knock me down, as a store employee, trying to
get into the building, to help get things ready for the doors
to be opened up for them.  So very grateful to not have to go
through that any more.

Everyone have a great, safe day, and see you all after abit.

Good morning! I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!

Today is going to be a big day for me. At 10:00 AM I am getting a tour of our National Weather Service office in Valley, Nebraska. Our school librarian's son is a meteorologist there and she arranged a tour with him for me. I can't wait! Hopefully I'll get to meet some of the other meteorologists that work there, too.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday!

I'll give everyone a respite from Thanksgiving leftovers,
and we'll have our regular FRIDAY FISH FRY for lunch and
supper today.

The following fish are now in the fryers:

1.  Cod
2.  Hallibut
3.  Perch
4.  Catfish

All will be served with fries, hushpuppies, and cole slaw.

Thank you, CW, for the change in menu - or rather, for not changing the menu.  I hope that since we started eating turkey on Tuesday, that there isn't that much left over.  Big Smile [:D]

On my last trip down I-65 to Indy, car ahead of me and I got stuck behind a truck in the left lane taking maybe five miles to pass a truck on the right.  Now those kind of things might cause me to mumble an expletive or two, but stuff happens.  What are ya going to do, whip over and pass in the median strip?

When the truck finally moves over, he and the car ahead of me begin exchanging hand signals, flashing lights and honking horns.  Do you suppose they were just long lost friends saying hello?

Had an excellent Thanksgiving, got the turkey cooked to perfection and had a great visit with the family.  Not much on the list of chores for today and the weekend.  Will take advantage of the sun and warmer temps to do the last of the winter prep on the flower beds and then just kick back.

Forecasts of winter showing up any day now are probably on the mark.

Have a good one.

...When traffic is heavy on the interstates it is just a bit much for one truck to try to pass another that is just a mite slower...That really can cause some road rage. Not me, I just stay back and ride it out, but it is frustrating.

Took advantage today of good weather for winter prep too....Last mowing and final mulching of what few leaves have blowed over since the last mowing....installed insulator mittens on outside faucets....Installed another storm window {over thermopane}, all on now but one and sometimes we don't install the one in the kitchen...need a bit of fresh air at times.....Installed new 8' fluor. light bulb in garage....Put tractor away for the season...additive in fuel, etc...covered in little barn.....Just a good day {55+ degrees}, to tend to such stuff.....

The next batch of fish, fries, hushpuppies and cole slaw
are now ready; fish, fries & hushpuppies are on the warmer
bar, and the cole slaw is in the cooler.

Hope everyone has had a great day, and wasn't too exaper-
ated by traffic, if you went Christmas shopping.  We had
a high today in the low to mid 60s.  What a nice day!!

Hmmm......  All I got today was the power steering, dad had the cab (with the back window still out), not too many amenities on a 1966 John Deere 4020 diesel.  The new tires in the back were a big help, pulled through most of the sloppy stuff.  Three inches of water on top of a like amount of mud was a different story, though, was fun turning the tractor around in that mess.Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]  We get to do the same thing tomorrow.Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]

Pass the fish, CW, I'll load up on it.

Good Saturday morning, everyone!  Looks like it's going to
be another grand day out.  Here in Louisville, we're supposed
to get up to 68, possibly hit 70 degrees by around 6 tonight.

Coffee is ready, juice is made, and there's also hot cocolate,
hot cocoa, and hot tea available.

On the breakfast bar, you will find:

turkey bacon, sausage, pancakes, waffles, biscuits & gravy,
tater tots, blueberry muffins, apple/cinnamon muffins, and
some cinnamon rolls, all ready and waiting for your eating
enjoyment.

Everyone going out in the nice sunshine and warm temps today,
please be careful, and watch out for the idiots who will also
be out.  Want everyone to get back safely tonight for our

SATURDAY NIGHT PIZZA FEST.

It is 34 degrees F. outside as I type this. Shock [:O] Hence the reason why I'm grabbing that big mug of hot coffee.

Will be back later today for a Supreme pizza for the Pizza Fest. Thumbs Up [tup]

A slice of cheese pizza and some dessert pizza sounds good tonight! Dinner [dinner]

My tour on Friday at the National Weather Service went very well. It turned out that the meteorologist who showed me around didn't have too much to teach me since I already know a lot of stuff pretty well. He did show me some websites where I can access the computer model data and he showed me how to read it. This afternoon I decided to do my own forecast based on the model data and my own judgement of the current weather pattern and it came out pretty close to the official forecast that the NWS issued. I also saw 11 trains on Friday up in Fremont, Nebraska. One of the manifests was very long, I would have to say probably about 140 cars.

The weather is going to turn cold here in the plains on Tuesday next week. Our high on Tuesday will be around 60 and the high on Wednesday will be about 30 degrees early in the morning with temps falling into the 20s during the day. It still doesn't look like any significant snow is on the way, though.

I hope everyone has a good rest of the weekend!

Any supreme left?

Joanie and I are back home and happy to be able to sleep in our own bed tonight.  I was able to get some train watching in this afternoon, including getting a few photos of action from the ped bridge in Alma, WI- unfortunately, it was cloudy and most of the shots aren't very presentable.  I'll upload them tomorrow and post links along with a couple of questions for the photo experts (stay tuned, Chris).

Thank you for all of the work you do to keep the diner open, CW.  I'll take the meat loaf with all the fixin's.

It was a dreary day today with rain on and off.  I didn't get wet when I went out for my walk though - I guess my timing was just about right.

Pheww!  What a weekend - drove over around 800 miles on a round trip to Maryland.  Did get to enjoy some beautiful weather on the shore of Chesapeake Bay, not to mention Thanksgiving dinner with Son, DIL, and their 4 dogs (up from three when I was dog sitting).  The new guy ("Truman") is a cutie!

I did do some trainwatching on Saturday. I though Ms Mook would be interested in these:

I spotted them in the rotunda of the B&O Museum in Baltimore....

Good Monday morning, everyone!  I know there are a few of
you, who would rather not come back to work today, after
such a "long" time off work.

Coffee is ready, juice is made (have regular o.j., and
orange/tangerine), hot chocolate, hot cocoa, and hot tea
are available also.

Breakfast this morning:  bacon, sausage, sausage gravy,
biscuits, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and we also have
some blueberry and apple cinnamon muffins.

Larry, sounds like you had a fantastic weekend, in Maryland.

Everyone have a great day!!

It's a cold Monday morning here and I'd almost rather go back to bed. We have a temperature of 25 degrees, it had rained last night and it ended up freezing. It's supposed to warm uo to about 31 degrees here later this afternoon.

I am getting ready for another day of bell ringing for the Salvation Army, and this gives me a reason and a purpose for getting out of bed in the morning........I feel that I am needed and I also feel that I am helping to make a difference in the lives of a lot of people who are a lot less fortunate than I am.

I think I will stop in at the Diner on my way to work this morning and fill my thermos bottle with hot chocolate. I hope everyone out there has a good  day!
