Good Wednesday morning to all.  Currently, we in Louisville
are receiving very light rain, with a temp of 46, or 48 de-
grees outside.  We're supposed to be getting some heavier
rain later around mid morning, possibly thunderstorms. So,
how is the weather where you are this morning?

Coffee is on, juice is freshly squeezed, and we also have
hot tea and hot chocolate available this morning.

Breakfast will be:  country fried ham, redeye gravy, scrambled
eggs, oatmeal, toast (buttered and toasted in the broiler, not
a toaster), homemade biscuits w/sausage gravy, sausage (links
and patties), pancakes and waffles w/syrup or jams, jellies,
or preserves to go on the pancakes/waffles.

We have 33 degrees here in Sioux Falls, the wind is blowing out of the north at 21 mph and gusting to 31 mph. There is a threat of snow showers here up until about 2:00 this afternoon. We had a little bit of rain earlier this morning and our temperature is supposed to max out at 38 degrees this afternoon.

I'm keeping a close watch on the weather in my area for the next six weeks or so. I will be working for our local chapter of the Salvation Army as a bell ringer this Christmas season, and I know from past experience to bundle up and dress in several layers. This is a paid position and it will generate some badly needed income for me. I start work this Friday morning and will be asigned to our local Hobby Lobby store.

I will probably stop in at the Diner every morning and fill my thermous bottle with either coffee or hot chocolate before I head for work.

Hmmm - an interesting article in the Daily Catzette:  Cats Say "I love You" to their owners when they bring their fresh-killed prey to the owner.  The cat wants them to have fresh food to eat.  And if the prey is only mortally wounded, it is really, really love, since they want the owner to have something to play with before dinner!

That is just so much nonsense!  A cat really loves you if they dial da pizza place and have it delivered!  You pay of course.  Kisses [:X]

And I don't even want to upset my breakfast by reading how dogs send e-mail.  Ack!

Sez cats go for the one person that doesn't like them because everyone that likes cats stares at them to get their attention and they hate that.  So the one person that is polite enough not to stare (the cat disliker) is the one to head for (and be sure to leave lots of fur with them so they will get to like you eventually!)

Cat dislikers - Gengie Khan, Alex the Great, Julie Caesar, Nappy the short and Hit-her...er Hitler.

Okay, now that my stomach has settled down, I can now post
the special for today:

1.  Fried chicken
2.  Mashed taters w/milk gravy
3.  Veggie choices:  green beans, corn, lima beans, peas,
    garden salad

Hope everyone enjoys today's menu.  And if anyone wants
a couple of take out plates, we can manage that today.

Hawaii?  I wish!

TWC was running a crawl last night warning that the storm that's coming up out of the Gulf may dump up to an inch and a half of rain on us, which would be OK any other time, but it's been raining for the past week and most of our streams are already almost banks full, not to mention that the ground is thoroughly soaked.

A neighboring FD had a house fire the other morning - poor guy just got out with what he was wearing, couldn't get to the phone or his truck keys, had to stand outside and watch his home burn until someone finally drove by (it was 4 am).  The local highway department brought a Gradall in to help overhaul the ruins.  The ground was so soggy that it immediately was buried up to the axles....

Snow is looking better all the time...

Good Thursday morning to everyone.  We have a current out-
door temp of 55 degrees, and the streets are wet, but it
currently is not raining out.

Coffee, juice, hot chocolate and hot tea are ready this
morning.

Breakfast is on the warmer bar:  turkey bacon, sausage,
biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, your choice of
hash browns or tater tots.

Seems like with all the wet weather we've been having, quite
a few people are suffering from pneumonia, colds, sinus
infections (and I'm one of them with a cold and sinus infect-
ion).  I had to go to the store yesterday and get some
cold/sinus medicine, and there was a lady at the bus stop,
who had just gotten out of the hospital the day before.
She definitely did NOT need to be out in the cold rain that
was coming down at the time.

Guess that's about all the news I have this morning.  Everyone
have a great day, and be careful out there!!

And a good Thursday morning to Cherokee Woman, Locomutt and everyone else out there. 55 degrees in Louisville? Gee, I wish it was that warm in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I threw an extra wool blanket on my bed last night and the temperature had gotten down to 17 degrees last night, and that is where it is right now. It is supposed warm up to about 41 by about 3:00 this afternoon.

My Mom always used to say that there is a lot of bacteria that gets passed around when it is warm out when normally we should be experiencing cold weather. And I think she was right. It is no fun having to deal with a sinus infection, and CW, I hope you are able to get rid of yours quickly!

Well, tomorrow I start working for the Salvation Army as a Christmas season bell ringer. It's only a temporary job but at least it will provide me with a source of badly needed income for roughly six weeks. Later this morning I will start putting together all my warm-weather gear.

Mook; CW Made me do it !!  She did also say that you could partake of said omelet "Hammock-Side"Big Smile [:D]

Ray; our temps have already dropped to right at 52 degrees and are supposed to keep going
down during the day to the mid to low 40s by this afternoon late.

Interesting side note to the weather here. A couple in New Albany,In. (just across the river)
donated an approx. 65 foot tall Norwegian Spruce for Louisville's main Christmas Tree for
this year. Apparently the "powers that be" thought it would be too difficult to "truck" across
the river,so they got an Army Reserve unit to bring in a CH-47 Chinook helicopter to
"sling load" it. Due to winds picking up,they couldn't set it down at it's final resting spot,so
they dropped it off at the Waterfront Park and trucked it from there encountering and
entangling several power lines and loss of limbs. Yesterday they got it set up where it's
supposed to go...........during the night, early morning hours a VERY strong gust of wind
toppled it over into the middle of the street, they are NOW righting it and securing it in
place, Again!
( one of the promoters of the event said they might have to check with a couple of the
local hospitals for "artificial limbs" to replace some of the damaged ones.)

All levity aside; I should add that the couple that donated this tree; Stipulated that it be
Dedicated to the Veterans-For All Their Service to this Country.

That's funny, Mutt! I used to be a member of our local Y Men's Service Club and this organization is a fund raising arm of the YMCA. We used to sell Christmas trees as a method or raising money for the YMCA. I will have to share this story with a few of my friends in that club.

Looks like it will be another beautiful sunny day out here in northern California...

I'll have some scrambled eggs and hot chocolate this morning, please.  And may I suggest meat loaf for tonight's menu?

Since it doesn't look like we've had too many patrons in here this morning, I think
I will continue with the breakfast menu for lunch today.

If anyone has a request for supper tonight, PLEASE let me know ASAP, so I can
get started on it.  Thank you.
