Good morning, folks. Joe, thanks for bringing the doughnuts this morning, I think I'll grab one along with a cup of hot coffee.
It's a bit on the chilly side here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, I rolled out of bed at 7:00 and we had at that hour a temperature of 37 degrees. It feels more like 30, and we have a cloudy sky. Rain is in the forecast for around 11:00 this morning and then throughout the rest of the day.
I am in the habit of checking out the weather conditions in other parts of the country, and I've noted that it is just a bit warmer in Louisville, Kentucky, although Louisville too, is socked in with cloud cover.....but it is supposed to be fairly nice later this afternoon, with Louisville having some bright, sunny weather and a temperature that will max out at 51 degrees.
Well, I've got to go to church this morning, so I think I'd better hit the shower and get myself cleaned up.

....Trivia comment:
In our Sunday paper {TheStarPress}, we find a feature of a local reporter takes an auto trip to various locations of interests and writes up and article of it..
This week was a trip down to Madison, In. to do a report on how the city established a road such as it was then back in the 1800's, up from the Ohio river to Indianapolis and on up to the northern part of Indiana so goods could be delivered from boats on the Oh. river, etc...Trade.
Then an improvement came with the building of a railroad to do similar tasks. But to get up from the river level it required getting up 400 plus ft. of elevation and that was a heavy task in building the railroad. Well, most railfans know about the 7,000 ft. stretch of that railroad built on a 5.89% grade to open the transportation window up from the river and on up to Madison upper levels and on out beyond, etc...
The writer made a final comment of "probably no one is going to drive down to Madison to see an old abandoned railroad track..." No not just anyone, but almost any railfan would certainly drive quite a distance to see a 5.89% {old main line}, grade that is still in place....A fact totally lost on the writer.

I think that line was kicked around in a thread sometime back. I had a memory of reading about a run-away on that hill and the magazine index brought up a story in the Railroad Reading section of the April, 2001 Trains.
Of course, my copy of that issue has been misfiled. As I recall the run-away happened not long after the Penn Central merger. The Pennsy use a couple of locomotives with dynamic braking to aid speed control going down. Under the rearranged maintenance program, the units had just returned from an ex-NYC shop where there was not a clue of the purpose of some "gadgets?" installed in the locomotives. Guess what?

Not sure about antelope season, but bambi season opens this Friday in Wisconsin.
Another side item/joke: Mr Cheney was out hunting on election day. Wonder if he caught another politician?

Based on previous posts, I think it's travelling through airports....

Well, chili has a predictable effect on me, but I don't have anyone I need to impress today, so what the heck? Haven't had a grilled cheese sandwich in next to forever, either.
Maybe MC can get into a sideline herding elk. However, after being herded all day by 200 ton locomotives, I'd guess it would take more than some guy on a horse to an ATV to spook them...

Maybe it turns out that they're just a bunch of railfans. Might be some pictures of BNSF/UP security busting them for trespassing.
My cheeks hurt from laughing!
Poor chicken - he is such a softie, he probably scraped a spot in the snow so they could graze!
I will take some chili - it is cool, but not cold here today. Love grilled cheeze and need a glass of chocolate milk to go with it.
I really can't get over our neighbors. We have 3 trash cans on wheels out back. They keep putting one out the night before garbage day for pickup, which is what you should do. However, the landlord pays extra to have it picked up in the back yard, so the tenants don't have to put them out by the curb. Had to write them a note this morning as we brought the container back to their usual place. (if we didn't bring them back, the collectors might figure we weren't doing the backyard thing any more.)
I wonder if they gift wrap their garbage, too?
They are just too good to be renters. Driver actually got a nap yesterday afternoon. He has never been able to do that before with anyone renting next to us at any of our locations!
Speaking of naps.....

Good afternoon!
It is a very nice afternoon, at least that's the way it looks out the window. Rumor has it there could be some snow tomorrow night, but nothing significant.
Anyway, I don't have anything special to say today. TTFN.

Good morning everyone. It appears that I am the first one in the Diner this morning, so I've got the coffee brewing, I've put the hot chocolate out and I've mixed a fresh batch of orange juice. And I'll take charge of serving breakfast this morning as well.
On the menu for this morning; oatmeal, freshly baked cinnamon rolls with lots of butter, belgian waffles topped with your favorite fruits, blue berry pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage.
Ouch - (darn rubber band) Crinkle, fold, rustle, fold.....
Hmmm - an interesting article in the Daily Catzette: Cats Say "I love You" to their owners when they bring their fresh-killed prey to the owner. The cat wants them to have fresh food to eat. And if the prey is only mortally wounded, it is really, really love, since they want the owner to have something to play with before dinner!
That is just so much nonsense! A cat really loves you if they dial da pizza place and have it delivered! You pay of course.
And I don't even want to upset my breakfast by reading how dogs send e-mail. Ack!
Sez cats go for the one person that doesn't like them because everyone that likes cats stares at them to get their attention and they hate that. So the one person that is polite enough not to stare (the cat disliker) is the one to head for (and be sure to leave lots of fur with them so they will get to like you eventually!)
Cat dislikers - Gengie Khan, Alex the Great, Julie Caesar, Nappy the short and Hit-her...er Hitler.

Sounds good to me, too...
We had a Siamese who decided to become an alarm clock. The only problem was that she "went off" a little earlier every morning, until she finally got "thrown across the room" (almost literally) and decided maybe it wasn't the best gig.
My pup often decides that mid-afternoon on days off and weekends is nap time. I often indulge her...
Good evening!
Much to my dismay, it looks like there is a little too much dry air for much significant rain or snow around Omaha tonight with areas more towards Grand Island getting the snow. I guess our turn will come.
I'm always trying to figure out why there will be a day with no homework followed by a day with tons of homework. Yesterday there was absolutely no homework. Tonight I have World History, Chemistry, Theology, Spanish and English. I guess that means I better get out of here and get busy working on it!
