Ok - who squealed.  Whoooo told Houston Ed, cuz I know he didn't figure this out on his own.

It's colder than a witches wart (tee hee) out there this morning.  29 this morning!  Brrrrrr - it is enough to make a cat turn blue!  ^~^

Good morning!   I am back after nearly 60 days off due to heart surgery (two sessions).  I'd better go easy on the eggs this morning.  So dish up some oatmeal and a glass of OJ and put me near a window so I can watch trains!

Welcome back!  Sounds like quite an ordeal for you!  You may have my hammock (I don't do this for just anyone!)  The view is good and if you want - I will get Mutt to gently rock it for you.  Angel [angel]Evil [}:)]

Pirate [oX)]

It's not often that I get to use the Pirate Smiley here, so I thought it would be a good day to dress up. So "Avast Ye Maties....Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr."

Tharmeni, good to see you back. Hope all is well and you have a speedy recovery! Watching trains go by is a great way to relax!

CW, had some of the Hot Spiced Cider. It was excellent. Haven't had the courage to try the witch's brew yet, though. Don't want to be turned into a newt or anything!

Well, the snow managed to disappear from the forecast, and in its stead, we've got temps dipping well into the teens tonight. Now that's what I'm talking about! None of this 80ºF crud like yesterday!

Well, I suppose I must be on my way. Hope you all have a great time Trick-or-Treating!

And you think it's cold in Lincoln, Mookie? Right now we have 20 degrees in Sioux Falls, and with the wind blowing out of the NW at 9 mph, and gusting to 17 mph, it actually feels like 9 F. It's colder than a dead witch's titts here!!

Morning all!  I can tell by looking around here that something spooky's about!  Some eggs and bacon sound great with some OJ.  It's 33 F here this morning.  I might have to scrape the frost off of the black cat that's roaming around the house.

Hey CW, will the diner be offering ToT hours this evening?

Of course, everyone who wishes to do so, can bring in candy to hand out tonight,
here in the DD/CS!!  As a matter of fact, you will find a biiiigg bowl at each end
of the counter, with all kinds of chocolate goodies:  Reeces, M&Ms, Milky Way Bars,
Snickers, Almond Joys and Mounds, etc.  (I only get the GOOD candy for Halloween!!)

Everyone can hand out goodies from 6 p.m. EST to midnight PST.

And for lunch today, we have:

Bat Wings
Frankenstein Fries
Eye of Newt Stew
Hallow Weiners
BOO Burgers

And, for dessert:

Coffin Cake w/ Scream Ice Ceam, Bone Pound Cake
"Minced" Meat Pie (other meats available upon request)

Well, Mookie, I guess I'm a little bit of all three choices today.  (Of course, I had a tad bit of
help with the menus from a certain 5ft. 10in. Mutt.)

Here's your Boo Burger and Frankenstein Fries--with CAT-sup!!

Mookie: I don't look up, I might get hit by something on the ground (crazy Madison drivers!!).

After a high of 67 yesterday, it's now 40, with mid 20's predicted for tonight. Will be cold for the trick-or-treaters venturing out this evening.

Watch out for unusual occourrances tonight, as we get closer to the witching hour........

There is such a thing as a Kitchen Witch, and it is based on Norwegian folklore. My Mom used to have one hanging in one of her kitchen windows, and it was riding a broom stick. The purpose of the kitchen witch itself I think, was to bring good luck in the kitchen while cooking. Maybe Cherokee Woman should have one in the Diner - although her cooking is pretty good without it.

You know - this "hanging around" isn't too bad.  Does kinda make me a little ditzy (er).  I think I don't have it quite right!  Think I am supposed to be laying on top of the beam, not hanging from it....

Wonder if I can make the hammock from here.....

2 boo burgers and fries to go please. picked up matt from school and he still had his train outfit on(bibs and all) so we got some extra toots from the guys at csx as they were hauling the trains. as for brooms in the kitchen they can be very dangerous if you are caught snitching in the food.

You'll have to excuse me for speaking so loudly.  I have my son's three mini-dachsunds here and they raise Cain every time a trick-or-treater shows up.

I'll take a couple of those boo burgers and the fries, if Matt left any...

Happy Halloween!

It's going to be a real cold one for the trick or treaters this evening. It's already in the mid 30s and we're looking at a low temperature of 20 degrees. If everything is perfect, we may even drop into the upper teens. Brrrr!

Hope everyone has a great Halloween evening!

ROFL at Larry's post...

Trick or Treat!

We've had a bumper crop of costumed candy gatherers tonight, including at least a dozen that had to be around Willy's age, with lame or almost no costumes to speak of.  I roll my eyes and grumble as they leave, but Joanie says "Aw, let them be kids!"  Oh well, less candy bars left here for us to ruin our diets with.  I think I've given out at least a hundred treats- a new record for here.

Mutt....geeeeeeeeee... that spike looks awfully familar, maybe I should have taken it with me tonight just in case any beings from Transylvania, not to be confused with Pennsylvania came up and attacked me. Shock [:O] lol

Well, Holloween was great for me. I dressed up in my Army BDUs PA National Gaurd Military Police, and went out to the mall. I got all to many questions like this "Are you in the military?" I also had some lady come up to me out of the clear blue and Thank me for serving my country, I thought that was pretty werid and cool at the same time. Well the mall gives out a lots of candy I will say that much. I received a lot of it.

Unfortunitly, I wasn't able to eat din din because I ate too much candy. SUGAR RUSH Big Smile [:D]

OK - One holiday in the closet and next one out.

Checking the freezer we have      "&" (turkey) sssss (tuffing) ooooo  (cranberries) * * (my good earrings)  Pi (pumpkin & pecan)  nnnnnnnnn (whip cream)  b (lost mitten) m m m (hot rolls that look like little bottoms) and - Kevin?

Well CW has it fully stocked for the next holiday.  Maybe we should start early?  Hmmm????

Tree - I would love to take one of those little guys off your hands.  Maybe have a doggie library where I could check out a pet of the week?

Had to go gently suggest a new resting spot for a local cat - he looked like Garfield sitting on the fence right next to the bird feeder next door.  Surprised he didn't have his mouth open with seeds in it!

14 little ones and someone left a piece of candy on our porch.  Wasn't that nice of them?

Big Smile [:D]

Good Wednesday morning, everyone!  I sure hope no one ate
too much Halloween candy last night, but I also hope that
everyone had a good time!!

Sarah did look might good in her BDUs!!

Coffee is ready, and Mookie, here's you great big mug, full
to the brim with coffee.  Juice is freshly made, and we have
hot water for hot tea.

Breakfast this morning:  oatmeal, turkey bacon, scrambled
eggs, sausage patties, biscuits and sausage gravy, and some
tater tots are on the warmer bar.

Mookie, glad you got the Thanksgiving decorations out.  But
I have one question:  How in the world did Kevin get in there,
under everything?!?!?!  Sure hope he's all right!!Shock [:O]Blush [:I]

It's very chilly and wet here this morning.  The rain is
supposed to  be out of here sometime later today/night.  Then,
our low tomorrow night/Friday morning is to be in the mid to
upper 20s.

Guess that's about all my "news" this morning, except to say
that I had a really great time with Sarah at the mall.  Too
bad that one jewelry store wasn't giving something other than
candy to hand out to trick-or-treaters!!  We could have done
some early Christmas shopping.

Everyone have a great day, and let me know if you have any
special requests for lunch and supper menus, please.

As soon as I can scan the picture in, I'll share what my life was like last week.  Five dogs.  Daughter was tied up with wedding and honeymoon, so I had the Dalmatian.  Son & DIL are moving from upper left coast to DC, and just this week are moving into their new house, so I have had their three mini-doxies.  Plus my own pup (well, old pup).  Not to mention Mom visiting for the week.  I had a houseful.

The honeymooners are home, and so is the Dal.  Looks like the DIL will be up Friday, planning to leave Saturday with the 3 little ones.  Life will be back to normal!

I don't know how well the three of them would do as a lending library - they're pretty much a set, and keep track of each other.  The female, however, is pretty much a lap dog, and if there's a lap available, you can count on her being in it.

Ed,

You might talk to the Mudchicken. During the summer months, he becomes an expert at pumping large quantities of Gatorade through an IV. I'm sure he could help you with yours...

Well, since I live all by my lonesome (the only house in an industrial area), I never get any Trick or Treaters. I never learn, either. Every year I buy candy and wait for someone to show up, and then every year I have to take care of the consumption of said candy also by myself. Hmmm...what can I say...

Sarah, it's funny that you mentioned your BDU story. I went to a JROTC high school back in IL, and one year I went in my Class A's to a Halloween party. Had a lot of similar reactions. Explaining that I was only in JROTC got to be almost a chore. It was kind of like when I had my certificate proclaiming that after graduation I was a Brevet 2LT in the Illinois National Guard, unassigned (and unpaid! ;-) ). I finally got tired of explaining that it was an honorary thing (given to all JROTC grads) that meant almost nothing (except that I could go into any branch of the service with a starting pay grade of E-3), so I finally took it down.

Well, guess I had better be about my business. Hope you all have a great day!
