Good Monday morning!  I'm sure everyone enjoyed their weekend, and it'll be great
to have everyone who is off today for Columbus Day back with us tomorrow.

Joe, thank you for putting the coffee on and making the juice.

Breakfast is now ready, on the warmer bar:  bacon, eggs, sausage, sausage gravy,
biscuits, and fried taters.   And Larry, got bagels for you, and anyone else who would
like them this morning.

I wish everyone a great day today.  As has been mentioned by Willy and Joe, the
cold air is approaching. and we'll all need warmer outerwear come Wednesday
night, Thursday morning.

A bagel sounds good - for a while they were my breakfast,   but that era is over, although I do enjoy them.

Final weekend on the railroad for the season is past.  Too much going on to devote any time to running for the rest of the month.  We had sold out trains on our "south" trips both days - you have no idea how hard it is to shoehorn people into the train.  The groups of three leave one isolated seat, and couples often like to occupy a four seat set alone.  No problem with a less than full train, but...

And, of course, it seems like the groups of 5 or more all show up last.  I won't start on the people who show up at, or shortly after the scheduled departure time.  Due to delays trying to seat as many as possible, we were usually 5-10 minutes late, and people were still arriving and expecting to get a ticket....

My son is visiting right now, and came along for the day on Sunday.  We even put him to work, and he enjoyed the day.

Well, doesn't look like we have too many here today, so lunch is going to be on the
"light" side:

1.  BLTs
2.  Grill cheese sandwiches
3.  Tuna salad sandwiches

All three will be served with fries and your choice of slaw or garden salad.

Have a special "blue plate special" in the works for supper tonight.  Will let everyone
know what that is about 3 or 4 p.m. EDT.

I'll take a BLT and a garden salad, please.  Need to lose some serious weight, especially after that lunch on Saturday.  I'll bet MC won't be ordering anything large, either, after that monster burger he had!

Carl and Pat checked in with us earlier this afternoon from Des Moines- they're staying in Iowa City again tonight, so we're going to try to get together for supper here.  Four servings of that blue plate special, please!

Linda is in Cincinnati for the week, so it is either go for the Blue Plate or cook for myself.  Save me a seat at the Hanel/Shaver table and we can swap stories about road trips.

I just realized that I was on the wrong thread when I wished Joe and Stacey a happy anniversary.  You, too, Jim and Shirley!  You both have a way to go to catch Pat's folks, who will be celebrating their 61st anniversary on Friday the 13th (same day as Colorado Chris' birthday!).

Sarah, glad you're safe and sound.

Getting together with Brian and Joanie was great; I'll have to thank them for taking care of supper for us tonight.  Joainie, heal quickly--you did great tonight, but it couldn't have been easy!

Tomorrow I take the birthday girl (I get to call her the Old Lady for six whole days) to the Japanese Gardens in Rockford on the way home--we both want to see how it looks in the fall.  We may then stop for some apples (and cider, and cider donuts) from our favorite apple orchard near Rockford, and drop down to Rochelle before getting back home.

Bedtime hasn't changed, in spite of this being vacation (the wake-up time has, though!).

And, in case I don't get a chance before tomorrow night, happy birthday (again), Willy!

Good Tuesday morning to one and all, here in the DD/CS!!

Coffee is ready, and juice, hot chocolate, and hot tea are made.

Breakfast is on the warmer bar:  bacon, scrambled eggs, biscuits,
sausage (patties & links), sausage gravy.

Guess I'd better get out of here for now:  got people ringing the doorbell,
to sign in for Produce Tuesday.

Good morning everyone. I rolled out of bed at a quarter after 6:00 this morning and it is cold here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. At last report we had a temperature of 42 degrees. There is an arctic cold front moving in here and tomorrow's temperature will max out at 38 degees. It is a bit early for snow here and that is a possibility for tomorrow evening, but I am happy as long as we don't get any freezing rain!

I am still searching for work and last Friday I had gone out to our Empire Mall to apply for work at Kohl's and Target. I went back to these two stores yesterday to return the applications that I had filled out, and the folks at our local Target store wanted to interview me right away! Needless to say, that came as a bit of a surprise to me, as normally I would be going to a job interview fully dressed, with sport coat, tie, the whole works. I will be going back to the Empire Mall within the next few hours with another employment application to turn in. I applied online last night for work with one of our local Shopko stores, and I am going to try doing the same with Best Buy. I've been out of work too long, so I am hoping and praying that something will finally open up for me.

I wonder what Cherokee Woman has planned for lunch this afternoon in the Diner? I'd rather grab lunch and a cup of coffee from the Diner than waste my money in the food court out at the Empire Mall.

Good Afternoon!

It's a dreary, ugly day in Omaha today. First freeze still expected later this week, but probably no snow.

My school's softball team is going to districts on Thursday, so everyone gets a noon dismissal on Thursday and Friday is off! I love short weeks!

No other newsworthy information today. TTFN.

Hello and good evening, everyone!  Sorry I didn't make it back in after Produce today.
The goodies today were:  potatoes, cucumbers, romaine lettuce hearts, and red &
yellow sweet peppers.  That was it today.

Supper tonight:  have some more steak w/sauteed mushrooms & onions, and we
also have some broccoli cheese soup w/ grilled cheese sandwiches.

There is still plenty of chocolate cake, and apple & peach pies for dessert.

You guys get school off for the tourney!? Down here in Papio we can get out of school, but our parents have to sign out a nice little form and there will be make-up work to do.

Friday was going to be off anyway for a teacher inservice, but Thursday is an early dismissal for everyone because of softball with no forms to sign. I guess we're just lucky!

Good Wednesday morning to everybody:  is anyone besides me, in here this morning?
I know I'm late getting in here; but I stopped at some other forum threads, and did some
reading.  At 54, I'm still trying to further my education on some things.

Coffee is on, juice is made, and I'm beginning to fix breakfast right now:

bacon, sausage, pancakes, waffles, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs.

If anyone has any special lunch requests, please let me know by 9 a.m. EDT,
so I can get everything together.

Everyone have a great morning.

Man oh man, pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage and waffles sound awfully good to me this morning. I got out of bed only about fifteen minutes ago, I slept in this morning and it's 7:30 here.

It's a COLD morning here, we have an outdoor temperature of 34 degrees. It will not get above 38 this afternoon and we have freeze warnings for tonight. The temperature is supposed to dip down to about 22. There is a possibility that we could get snow or freezing rain before the end of the week. The Black Hills of South Dakota is usually the first spot in this state to get snow, so I'll be keeping a watch on the weather reports for that area.

Well, I hope everyone out there has a good day!

Ray
