This is Proviso checking in...had a good trip last night, to near Iowa City (I calculate that we're about halfway there). Today we'll be exploring IC, Kalona, and a little bit of Omaha before heading in. If it's still light, we may try for Louisville.
(That will throw a panic into folks not in the know!)

Willy, I hope your mom feels up to the trip to Lincoln tomorrow. I had a couple of ribs broken nearly 20 years ago (along with a collarbone, and some would say my head, in a bike-vs.-car accident that wasn't my fault). Sometimes ribs don't heal and just stay disconnected (even now, if I stretch just right--or just wrong--I feel it).

Got to get ready to go--Pat doesn't know I found a computer here! See everyone tomorrow--maybe some later tonight.

Good Friday morning to everyone!  Very chilly here this morning:  the temp's around
44, 45 degrees this morning.  Wonder what it was before I woke up at 8:15!

Sarah made it in around 10:15 last night.  Of course, she was very tired, and wound
up from the long drive.  But it was very good to see her again!!

Joe, thank you so very much for putting the coffee on, and making the juice.

I've got breakfast going:  sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits and sausage gravy,
and fried taters.  And if no one wants any of that, there are some Kirspy Kreme
doughnuts (especially chocolate covered, cream-filled) and some chocolate
covered long johns, along with glazed doughnuts, and jellly filled doughnuts.

Hope all the rest of our traveling members are doing all right, along their routes to
Lincoln, and Mookie.

Everyone have a great day!!

Here's to a great trainwatching day in Lincoln!

My son will be along in the Diner today.  His treat, so I'll be having a really good breakfast this morning.  He more or less finished his cross-country trek last night about 11.  Still has to drive back down to DC, but not for a few days.

Good morning everyone. It's roughly 54 degrees here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I slept in this morning and it was almost 7:30 here before I finally rolled out of bed. It's going to be a fairly nice day here, with the temperature topping out at 72 degrees here in the mid afternoon. It's supposed to be a bit warmer here tomorrow and a bit cooler on Sunday. The wind is supposed to pick up quite a bit here this weekend, and that probably means that my yard will soon be buried underneath a blanket of leaves.

I plan to spend part of my day just looking for work. On the advice of a co-worker in one part time job that I am holding, I plan to run out to Kohls, Shopko and Target to pick up employment applications. The day before yesterday I had turned in an application for employment with Star Mark.......this outfit is a manufacturer of kitchen cabinets.

I am glad to hear that Sarah arrived safely at the home of her "adopted" parents in Louisville, Kentucky last night.

I feel like I am NASA and tracking the Mars mission.

Carl & Pat in Iowa City area.  Coming in through Omaha.  Hope their tiles don't fall off during that section!  It is pretty rough up there.

The Blysards should be either very close to Kansas or in it.  Hang on Toto - One Magnum loose!

Stay Tuned!

Man, I just noticed:

Jhhtrainsplanes' DD&CS is still an institution now hovering round the 830's mark.

Well done.

Now for other news:

Woke up this morning and found it 49 F in Western NY, chilly but nice since the sun decided not to be an ornament.

Afternoon everyone......

Wrapped up one trying week at work last night, had another machine break down, and we had to send our welders up to the fabrication plant to get the rest of the frames we had to do last night, they only had one welder making frames up there.  I hope next week is better, we will be starting in on 53-footers come Monday.

Headed out the the World Dairy Expo in Madison today, it's possibly the biggest farm show in the state, save for Farm Progress Days.  The big attraction this year is the robot milking machine, supposed to find and milk the cow all by itself.  DeLaval is marketing the 250,000 dollar machine towards farmers who want to spend more time with their families than with the herd.

Hope all have a safe trip headed to Lincoln, I was going to ask if the Magnum found the Lawdog, but he's on vacation for the next few weeks.  (For those who don't know who the Lawdog is, go to http://thelawdogfiles.blogspot.com and look through his musings.)

Will have some fish after I get back from the dairy expo, see everyone later.

I know the feeling. Although I can't make the gathering, I am also heading out on vacation. It's been a real long week that's for sure. I hope you all have a good time. And I'm glad your mom is doing better Willy.

Well it's time to go pack and get some rest for an early departure and a long drive. I am flying to Reno where pops will pick me up for a straight through drive to Rawlins, Wy. Till I get back in 10 days I'm out of here. I should have pleanty of pics when I return.

Joe, thanks for getting the coffee on, juice made, and for the delicious cinnamon
rolls.  Think I'll take a couple of them, to go with my coffee.

Brian, have a safe trip, and tell everyone "HI" for us.

How many will be around tonight for the SATURDAY NIGHT PIZZA FEST?

Everyone have a great day, and take care.

I'll take a Surpreme topping pizza. Dinner [dinner]

However for me, a major piece of bad news: a major part of Sacramento, CA history will soon be gone. Tower Records--a major record/book retailer that started in this city--is officially going out of business and all stores are starting their liquidation sales today. Sad [:(] I had just bought a few magazines from those stores just a few days ago!

Me and my dad are going to be heading out to Lincoln very shortly. Mom is still trying to decide if she is going to be able to come along or not. She still does not feel well at all.

I'm taking along the digital camera and I'll put up some images this evening when I get home (with everyone's permission, of course). I can't wait to see the looks on the engineers' faces when they see 12 people standing along the tracks waving and taking pictures!

With that, I am out of here. I'll be back this evening!

Well, it has certainly been a long lone, time since I've been in her last. Not too much has changed in here, things have certainly changed for me, that's for sure. AS a matter of fact that has been one of the reasons why I haven't been in the Diner or on the forums for a while,; due to the fact that I've made huge alterations in my life!!!! One of those involved me relocating, for carrer purposes.

WEeeeeeeewwww I'm sick to death of driving and moving. I'm glad that's over.

What is this I hear about people here saying that Oklahoma is boring??? Hey..... OOOOOOOOOOOOklahoma where the wind goes sweeping down the plain...........so on so fourth...... So given that statement, if you think good old Oklahoma is boring go out there during tornado season, it will get "un boring" real quick!!!

Everyone in Nabraska (sp) have a safe trip back home, and always stay SAFE!!!!

Boy am I glad it was windy! My band had a parade and two competitions yesterday (we won a field competition in Grand Island, and then won best: drum major, best auxilary [flag, rifles etc], drumline [my area, although freshman band didn't compete], and overall in division AA + full competition in Lincoln). We had one of our snare drummers overheat during the parade (she ended up being ok and competing in the field competitions), so I can't imagine what it would've been like with it being 80 degrees, no breeze, and a full jacket-helmet band uniform .

Happy Anniversary Joe and Stacey! Happy Anniversary to Jim and Shirley, too!

Back to school tomorrow and what a dreary week this promises to be. Clouds and showers for Monday through Wednesday and highs in the 50s and 60s. Then it looks like a hard freeze for Wednesday and Thursday nights with highs on Thursday struggling to reach 40. And to think that just yesterday it was 83 degrees!

Hope everyone has a good week!

Willy, I was just watching the weather channel and thinking, "Here it comes!"  And Joanie is saying it's about time (she deals with allergies, so she loves the first hard freeze).

Happy Anniversary, Jim and Shirley!

Evening everyone........

Congrats to all who have a birthday and/or anniversary, glad to hear about the 51 years, Jim, don't see too many of those.  My parents will be celebrating 29 years this coming April.

Willy and Brian, the forecast for us has the promise of snow coming for Wednesday night and Thursday, and a few nights of hard freezes.  Looks like I'll have to bring out the power cord and plug the truck in at night, keep everything warm and toasty.

Took a nice little drive today to look at the fall colors, were very pretty around the Baraboo and Reedsburg areas, also took the time to look at things on the railroad, lots of new business going in.

See everyone later.
