Even if you put stickman unihead in Carharts and a parka from Cabellas, all he'd have to do is step in between the snowflakes, turn sideways and disappear. Besides, the Dodge hotrod he has, has a heater in it that probably has never been used outside of the windshield defroster er... um... defogger....Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Nah, she had no clue how many were coming- it's just the lure of time-and-a-half pay, combined with dealing with a bum knee (torn ligament, gets sore when bent for long periods such as when riding in a car, scheduled to get it fixed via orthoscopic surgery in about three weeks), both of which made her decision easy.

Good afternoon.

I hope all of the travelers have safe journeys over the next few days. We don't want to hear about any accidents!

Ed - You won't need your snow shovel yet. It actually looks really warm for Saturday (speaking in Nebraska standards). Highs are looking to be in the mid 80s under sunny skies. I'll bet that's cold for you, Ed!

Anyway, that's all I've got for today. Everyone stay safe!

Now departing.  Eastern Iowa tonight, we hope, Lincoln tomorrow.  We oldsters (some of us, anyway) have to get out and stretch at times, among other things.

Brian, sorry Joanie can't make it.  I'm not sure Pat and I will be much protection for you; it may help that she can't stand the sight of blood (or maybe that's only hers or mine).

Handshakes and hugs being stored in trunk for liberal use Saturday.  Safe journeys (and good weather!), everyone!  Just hang on, SJ!

Will do..

We have to drive past the State Troopers Barracks.

DPS has fast, fast cars...including a "race blown" Chevy Camaro...

Besides, you can never out run a Motorola...I know from experience.Smile [:)]

Just gonna cruise around 80 or so...when the eyelids get heavy, we will find a motel.

I just want to ask everyone to pray for my mom. A few weeks ago she fell while walking down a hill, but there didn't seem to be any injuries besides a couple of bruises. Well, today she was hurting real bad and went to the doctor and it turns out that she has at the least a bruised rib, but it looks like it is fractured in one spot. She's on a lot of medicine for the pain, but the doctor says that she is very vulnerable to pneumonia right now. I sure hope she's well enough to come to Lincoln and meet everyone on Saturday.

Busted rib is not a comfortable thing.

Keep an eye on her, it can be very painful at time.

Hope you can make it, but if you have to or want to stick around there with your mom, thats a cool thing too.

Hello to everyone!  Willy, will definitely remember your mom in my prayers.

I've been busy doing last minute cleaning and straightening, and even made a run to
the grocery store for a few things.  But I did manage to fix supper for the Diner patrons
tonight:

1.  Chicken & dumplings
2.  Tuna noodle casserole

Carl & everyone headed to Lincoln, PLEASE be careful, and get there safely.

I don't worry too much about the bears.  I usually set my CC such that more than 50% of the traffic passes me instead of vice versa.  They can take the bears' attention away from me.  Willy, we'll be praying for your Mom here- hope you and your parents can make it there Saturday.

Now what did I do with my Tin Man boots?

Willy, I will pray for your mom. A fractured rib is no fun. CW, chicken & dumplings sounds great. I seem to be coming down with a cold, and chicken is the cure for everything, isn't it?

While it might not look like train watching, the first week in July I had gone white water rafting on Colorado's Arkansas River along with a cousin of mine and two of her grand kids. The Arkansas River follows the old D&RGW mainline through Colorado's Royal Gorge. I kept my eyes open for trains of both the U.P. and the Royal Gorge Railroad while I was white water rafting, but never saw anything. We had ridden the Royal Gorge RR the day before.

scribble, scribble..........paws................scribble..........paws...........scribble, scribble, scribble.......

Ahem!  OK....

An Open Letter to BNSF!

Dear Sirs, Ma'ams and Peoples:

There will be a delegation of train watchers in Lincoln this weekend - um - (flip, flip)  October 7th and 8th to watch the train traffic and workings of the local Hobson Yard.

I ask nicely if you would mind running some trains through there the entire weekend daytime, not just overnite when no one will be watching.  I know that sometimes you have a company-wide picnic on one or both days and seem to take most of the weekend daylight hours off.

Could you have your picnic during the nite instead,  just this one weekend?  These are very important people and friends and they are expecting to be impressed, since I have lied...er....written so much about all the traffic by our watch site.*

Should you choose not to change your schedule, there will be dire consequences!  I will be forced to wear a Union Pacific Hat to the watch site!*  Maybe even put Union Pacific on the side of Millie and that won't make The Driver very happy!

Thank you for your consideration and I am sure you will make the right choice, which would be to accomodate my request!

Sincerely,

Mookie

Houston called!  I was busy making coffee and missed it!  On the right side of Ardmore and heading for OK City.  And he thinks Oklahoma is as dull as Texas - boy is he in for a surprise.

This is like watching the shuttle for me!  Cool [8D]

Oklahoma is about as dull as Texas, scenery-wise, only red...  Been there.

The "badlands" of KS, along I-35, aren't bad.

Here's to a great trainwatching day in Lincoln!

My son will be along in the Diner today.  His treat, so I'll be having a really good breakfast this morning.  He more or less finished his cross-country trek last night about 11.  Still has to drive back down to DC, but not for a few days.
