Morning all! Thought I'd swing in for some OJ and a donut. I hope everyone had a good weekend, I had a blast on the moped in Door County.
My families' reuions are generally attended by ~ half of those that are physically able to go. It's generally a core group of people and a revolving lot of those that sometimes are able/willing to go. I think it's a bit sad that people don't realize the value of their families until something bad happens. But hey, I'm "just a kid" so what would I know, right? Lol...I'll be back maybe this aft for lunch or tonight for dinner.
Dan
I'll be in the corner booth with my tea, bearclaw, and the crossword puzzle.
Hey, can you cut the sudoku puzzle away from that and give it to me? Thanks... recliner, here I come!

Joe and Tree, you guys are making me feel bad! I'm one of those young'uns that moved away and does not attend the annual family picnic now. I think it's already passed now. I'll have to see about attending next year.
Mook, thought at some point that some of the monsoonal moisture would have to make it out your way. You might find some more today. There's a lot of moisture in the air this morning. Even Sterling is reporting near 100% humidity this morning. Once the sun gets a little convection going that should get some T-storms developing. I guess we'll see what the afternoon will bring.
Well, I've got to take care of the 2 pups that I'm responsible for for the next month or so (owners are off on a tour of Montana, the Pacific NW, BC, Yukon and Alaska in their motorhome. I've got a Min Pin and a Chihuahua. They're good little dogs, so shouldn't be too much trouble.
Hope you all have a great week. TTFN!

Mookie wrote:^................we got rain. I am speechless.
Mook - It rained here in Omaha the past 3 nights. First time it was about a third of an inch. Second time was 4 tenths. Last night 2 thirds.
Can't have any breakfast yet this morning; I've got an orthodontist appointment in about 30 minutes. I get my braces off on August 15... thanks goodness!
Everyone have a good day!

Pat's family's reunion was hurt a little by people moving away, but we usually make the 200-mile-or-so trip each way that we need to in order to attend (my worst challenge is getting the day off). Pat's dad had five brothers (one now gone), and all of these brothers have kids, all married (most have grandkids; he's the only one with great-grandkids). All five surviving brothers made it this year, and all of their kids except one (and a couple of spouses) were also there. I was missing one niece. So the total attendance was about 60. The most it could have been would have been about 75.
As for rain, we got a tiny bit on yesterday--the sun came out during the wedding, and it was hot and steamy again by the time the reception was over for us. The next few days are supposed to be great, with Thursday being our next crack at rain.

OK...how many of you have ever seen Dances with Wolves? If you have, I'm sure that you remember "Tetonka" (sp?) means buffalo. I fear this may be a Hollywood inaccuracy. After lunch, I'm pretty sure it means "Little Dog Who Makes Big Puddle."
So along with the two dogs I mentioned earlier today, my cousin dropped off Tetonka, his Shiba Inu (another sp?) puppy so I could let him out at lunch. The other two dogs are not really big fans of this guy (he's simply got too much puppy play in him). So they wouldn't go outside until I picked him up so they could get by without being pounced upon. Lo and behold, when I picked him up, he decided that was as good a time as any to relieve his bladder...........................................................
Anyways, I guess I had better get going back to work. Hope you all are having a better day than me!

Just a note to thank all of you who sent a birthday note to me. I am sorry that I am so late in replying, but we have not been on the internet much due to the death of our son from an accident plus being in an accident on the way to the funeral. Another son was driving and we were hit by an elk which totalled the van, but as the highway patrol man told us, we were very, very lucky that none of us were seriously hurt. So after a couple of weeks now, I am trying to get back to reading the forum to Bob--some of you may remember that he is blind--plus catching up with our emails. Anyway, we always enjoy reading the forum topics, even though I don't post very often. The train forums add a lot to Bob's life and he really enjoys hearing about the topics.Thanks--we feel like we have many friends when we read all of your messages.

First and Formost Nance GOD BLESS.
Well, it has certainly been about two weeks since I last posted here in the diner, been very busy lately getting things around the house done. So, let me thank everyone who wished me a safe trip on the plane two weeks ago. I did have a safe one, but a delayed one.
Hummm....I think I'll have a glazed donut before I have to go to bed, and some milk.
Nance--and Joe--we were sorry to hear about the death of your son. Suddenly--and possibly senselessly--makes it even more of a shock. Our prayers are with you.
Sarah, you've been missed. Oops, I'm not allowed to say that.
Probably would have done better in the diner tonight--daughter tried something new on us.
Bedtime--have to kick the kids out at the departure gate for a crack-of-dawn flight.

nance69, you and your family are certainly on my prayer list as well. No one wants to lose family members- losing grandparents is hard, but children?

Good morning everyone.
Nance69 - You and your family are in my prayers.
Mookie: My mom is going to be in Lincoln for a meeting today. I don't think she'll be able to drop by and say hello, though.
Last night we picked up exactly 2 inches of rain at my house and it is still coming down. Of course Eppley Airfield missed one of the stronger storms that gave my house an inch so the official total will probably be about an inch less than what I measured. Bummer.
We've had a number of experiences like yours, Willy--we're about 15 miles or so from O'Hare, the official reproting station. The nearest "Weather Bug" reporting site is our local high school, almost exactly a mile away. There have been times when a good storm will dump twice as much into our front-yard rain gauge as it will on the Bug site, and O'Hare will report little, if anything. Of course, the airport could be getting rain bad enough to interfere with the flights, and we won't see any of that, either.
Ten days and the fifth and last child of our merged family moves to Indianapolis and college. I need a volunteer for lawn mowing, snow removal, garbage takeout, kitchen cleanup and a few other chores. Hours are negotiable.
Speaking of ten days, the weather forecast for those days says no more than 30% chance of rain. Looks like Nebraska will have extra. Send some of the run-off FedEx.
