Ah...all that bacon woke me up just fine!  Did well on both tests.  I should know in about two hours since it's summer and not too many exams to grade.  Only 4 more classes until graduation!  YAY!

It's about 78* here today.  It's just right.  Since I'm in such a good mood from being done with classes I'll make dinner!  Anyone have suggestions?

Well, Dan, how about Mexican night?  Could you do tacos, and beef burritos?  That sounds like
something that would 'hit the spot" tonight!!

MC,

Got the Scotty Pontoons out yet? It's pouring Mooks and Mutts up here, and I've heard from our crews that it's been worse down south all day.

There are exceptions - ate at a place called "Mi Pueblo" in North Carolina.  Waitstaff almost spoke English, and a denizen of the Southwest who was with us said it was pretty good, comparatively speaking.  Wasn't as good as the local barbeque, though...

Our guys in Greeley and Ft. Collins got soaked and are heading home. The folks doing Cabellas out by the Coors Brewery fled after the flash flood warning. Very black to the north of us, and as I get up to peer out the 8th floor windows, the heavy stuff has gotten downtown, but not the tech center. Will have the scottie mount-up on the pontoons as a precaution and throw a vest on the Westie. Time for a larger doggie door or an ark??

We got just over a half inch locally since Midnight (the rain I wrote about before work slowed down and drenched RCOs for half the day).  Gorgeous this evening.  Have to stay up past bedtime and help get baby girl from Midway.

Speaking of which, baby girl's hubby is a native San Diegan; knows Mexican food (and likes things hot!).  Still appreciates Chipotle.

Not a problem!  Tacos, burritos, refried beans, salsa/chips, and nachos coming up!  Choices are ground beef, shredded beef, shredded chicken, or veggie (read: bean).  How about some margaritas and Corona's for those of age?  Show me your ID!  (I'm also a/the bouncer!)

Dan, I'll take a beef burrito enchilada style, w/shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes on the side.  While I'm waiting
for the burrito, I'll take a small order of con quaso w/
chips, and a strawberry margarita.

Boy, it sure was a very slooooow night in here!  Everyone must have been too
tired to come into the DD/CS overnight.

Coffee is ready, and I've got fresh oj, oj/tangerine made, and there is also
lemonade and iced tea ready for the day.  Hope Randy makes it in, to refill
the gatorade drum for mudchicken.

Breakfast this morning:  bacon, sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy, hash
browns, and the assorted Friday doughnuts are available for your eating
pleasure.

Everyone have a great day, and I'll talk with you later.

Thanks for setting that up, Joe, us second shifters have a hard time waking up that early in the morning.  Just checked everything else, rest of the tanks are full, and got a few more pallets of the mix on order, should be here sometime today.  Was beautiful out yesterday and today, drove to work with the windows down, felt good.  Forecast today is for a high of about 86, with low humidity, normal high for us is 82.

Was a slow night at work last night, I was finished with tires by about 8pm, spent the rest of the night putting the brake chambers and all related hoses and wiring on FedEx suspensions.  It's kind of weird that ever since we started this LEAN manufacturing deal at work, which is supposed to increase output, our production numbers have gone down.Confused [%-)]Confused [%-)]

Be in later for the fish fry.

Joe, thanks for replacing the gatorade tank!  And Randy, thank you, also, for
checking the other tanks.  Everyone should now be set in the drinks department
for the weekend.

Our Friday Fish Fry is now under way.  First batch of fish is frying, some of it
is almost ready, the fries are frying in another deep fryer, and slaw is in the
cooler.  Here is the selection of fish for today:  cod, perch, salmon, hallibut,
tuna, and catfish.  Expecting more trout to be in  in time for supper tonight.

Desserts:  apple pie, chocolate cake, spice cake, blueberry cobber, cherry
cobbler, and peach cobbler.

CW - I think a couple of goldfish will do me just fine!

I am on my way out the door for the weekend.  Gonna put on my overalls whilest I sit in Millie - maybe I can come up with a couple more questions to liven the forum.  The overalls may help me think better.

And I promise not to wear them like I saw one time in the railyard.  shirt, shoes, overalls - unbuttoned on the side so you knew there was vast birthday suit under there with no cover.  And he wasn't Chippendale material, either.  Vast waistland should always be well covered!

Have some more fish on for tonight.  But tonight, it's on the grill, and not in the
deep fryer.  Also grilling some burgers, hot dogs, and brauts.

Side dishes will be:  slaw, pork n beans, chips and fries.

Desserts:  same as listed on the lunch menu--apple pie, the cobblers, etc.

My mom and I chased 844 today. Of course it come into Blair about 2 hours late, but it was sure a beautiful sight when it did come in! We then chased it to Golden Spike Park in Council Bluffs.

I got some good photos, but I'm clueless on posting them. I'll try to get them up on Saturday, but I can't guarantee anything.

Slight chance of rain tonight and another chance Saturday night. As Mook has mentioned, we just can't seem to get any of it here, but there is a first time for everything.

I'm curious, Willy--did your mom get a thrill out of seeing the 844 in action as well?  I hope so!

(I'm also slightly envious of you for getting to see steam in action this year.  I'm hoping our time will come again soon.)

Well, my mom isn't a huge train fan and she always wonders how I got into it, but I know that even she really does enjoy seeing 844 or the Challenger when it comes to town. Today she commented on a what a great looking steamer it is, so I know she had fun.

I'd have to think that 844 or the Challenger will come to Chicago again soon. Chicago is such a big city I don't know how they can keep the steamers out of it for too long.

Thanks for the liquid refreshment Joe.  I've got some donuts this morning.  Seems I have the 6AM-2PM shift for the next 3 Saturdays.  Long John's, jelly filled, bavarian creme, and plain.  Pick your frosting and/or sprinkles.  I'll be back in the early afternoon for a snack before heading for Door County, WI for a little break.  Have fun at the 'za fest!

Willy, your mom could have been my mom when I was your age.  My parents tolerated my hobby but didn't understand it.  Of course, she would have been less enthusiastic about steam locomotives since that was probably all she knew before she got married (or thereabouts).  Of course, the local area probably never saw anything bigger than Mikes and Pacifics, so one of UP's engines would knock some socks off.

You sound a lot saner than I was at your age--maybe that's part of why I'm so impressed.

(Just came to DD&CS for my CFDMD--off to Michigan soon.)

Morning All,

Carl, hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip. We'll see you when you get back.

Meanwhile, I don't have too much else to report, other than the fact that someone cranked up the thermostat in Denver again. I fear we'll have another long string of 90's now until some other cold front manages to slip in.

Well, must be on my way. Hope you all have a great weekend!

I've already been hooked since I was like 4 or 5. I'm only getting more hooked on them as time goes on!

Thanks for the juice and lemonade; I'm parched. Have a good day everyone!
