******** ever see a cat with snow boots? *********

No, but close, and it was a riot!
Ok - it has been 24 hours and I am still intrigued! Give us the details!

A Siamese we once had managed to step in a puddle of liquid floor wax just poured to be spread in the usual manner. Got all 4 feet. Cat's don't like stuff on their feet, be it floor wax or boots. The hilarity came from watching her essentially try to pick up all 4 feet at the same time to shake off the offending substance.

We had a cat once, who confiscated a half eaten ear of corn, and
walked around the room with it in her mouth. That was pretty
funny to see. I think locomutt took a picture of her. Will have
to try and find that picture.

^~^

This is for the cat lovers in the diner today. Cats hate being laughed at, so we take great care not to laugh at the real Mookie.

She has a favorite plastic grocery bag she lays on and sometimes sticks her head in to nap. Came around the corner yesterday to find her sitting up with the bag over her head! Had to hit my head on the wall to keep from laughing out loud. This is a 16 pound cat with a lot of dignity, so laughing was out of the question!

Had a wire-hair/schnauzer mix dog, Budz - loved the rawhide chew toys. Would give her the sticks and she would walk around with it stuck out her mouth like a cigar! We could laugh at her since she thought it was great fun!

Good morning. It's raining here this morning. So I'll start breakfast.
We'll have oatmeal, toast , bacon and eggs. Think I'll make a pot
of bean soup for lunch and a pot of five alarm chili for supper.

Have to agree with Carl, Wednesday's snowfall here in Chicago was very beautiful, perhaps the most pristine in the 3 years I've been here, almost like being in a snow globe.

Only complaint was driving to Indy for Thanksgiving. First snow of the year for us = stupidity remembering how to drive. It took me 4 hours to get from my house in Fox River Grove to the Skyway. On average it takes me about an 1hr 45 min.[tdn] Watched as a fellow in a Ford F250 w/4wd slid into a Palatine street sign and then into a tree. Thankfully he was okay but I can't say the same for the truck. . Ick! No problem driving back on Thursday though. Most importantly it made my mom and grandparents happy and I got to see my uncle, aunt and cousin from San Diego, so all in all it was worth it.

Good news is now that I'm back I'm ready for the snow. I'm handling snow removal for the theatre this winter and suggested they buy a snow thrower as a long term investment. Picked up a brand new Murray 5HP model yesterday. It's probably the first time since I was in school that I really can't wait for it to snow!

Beef and noodles sound great. Would you rather have rolls or biscuits with that?
Heck, I'll bring both!

Boots - well, my boots have little wire goodies on them so I don't have to claw my way across the ice that we seem to always get! But found out they don't do so well on the bathroom floors we have here.....whee! Guess some people pay for rides like that!

You could have stayed in Lincoln - we didn't have enough snow to plow. Just needed sand up to our elbows!

laptop is kaput (my ba-a-ad computer ju-ju and aura strikes again! ) Mothership is bewildered on the frequency of CPU failures around me. Hopefully this time I get new equipment instead of reworked junk. Boss Hen is LOL just up the road.

We went thru Grant, NE last nite (home of NKC RailNet), that railroad just decided to park the locomotives and wait for the snow to quit.

Since everybody is getting tired of turkey and leftovers, tonights's
supper will be BEEF noodles and mixed veggies. Thought
that would make a nice change of pace for us.

Oh I am so glad you and Boss Hen made it home ok! I knew you were out there in this mess and I really worry about where my future meals are and if they are ok. Lincoln ended up with just about 2 inches. More mess than anything!

Just tell mothership with as many miles as that lap sitter has on it, it should be replaced! Unless mothership is BH, then find the bunny!

Fear not, Gato - We made it back, albeit very late. Western Nebraska and western Kansas are still closed as far as I know. We got chased off I-80 at North Platte late yesterday, got really bad west of Kearney (getting passed by semi's sliding off the Interstate and running through the grass median more than once).....Took the backroads home (US-83 to NE23 to US-6 and into Sterling, CO at I-76 and finding they were closing those roads behind us, such fun!)

May be off-line for a while - trying to see if I administer "last-rites" to my laptop or just have the mothership buy another battery! Another manic Monday in my feathered world!

Chicago got its big snow last Wednesday, but the roads were OK by Thursday. It was one of the most beautiful snowfalls I've seen (and I can say that in spite of having driven in it at its worst).

It was a heavy snow, though--lots of branches down around us. I'm here now (this late) because the first thing I did this morning was clean up our yard. Pulled one good-sized limb off our roof. No damage, thankfully.

We haven't gotten any snow since then, though there's supposed to be light snow and rain today and tomorrow. They had been talking about another big storm this Wednesday, but the latest forecast didn't mention that.

We got very little - just messy! But just a smidge west of us - they really got dumped on and further west about a foot.

I'm worried, cuz my favorite dinner is out there somewhere!

Heard Chicago got a tad bit?

Weather is OK here today, (overcast, high 30's, no precip), but some places got hit pretty hard. If necessary we can send breakfast out with the dogs and sled, or our specially trained dolphins. Just ask for delivery.

Good luck to Tom. (New resident in the neighborhood.)

Good Morning!! Just coffee please. First day for my new job!!!

Kitty boots?? Dog boots - Yes. My wife was on the team that designed and sewed the dog boots used on the WTC for the search dogs. The dogs paws were burning and needed some protection.

Good point, Larry.

And Mookie, I don't think I've ever seen a cat with snow boots.
(At least, not a REAL cat. I've seen cartoon cats with snow
boots or rain boots on). Plus I've seen our cats lie on top
of boots and shoes.

Well, good morning folks. Coffee is on, and biscuits are in the oven.
There is, for you to choose your choice, toast, sausage, bacon, eggs,
oatmeal, toast, and sausage gravy. Mookie, how was your long
weekend? How was the train watching?

Well folks, it's about time for me to go nighty-night. Keep everything
clean and straight in here the rest of the night. Plenty of sandwiches
already made up in the fridge for late comers. Trains are all running.
See you all tomorrow morning! And sweet dreams everyone.
