I'll have a cup of warm milk and honey please. I'm going to be playin the piano at a church today and need to calm down a little. Don't know why I'm nervous; it's not the first time I've played in public.

Joe, you all be very careful traveling to the two weddings. You know
there'll be lots of holiday shoppers out everywhere today doing
Christmas shopping.

Breakfast today will be a BIG breakfast to fill your tummies
for your day ahead: biscuits, sausage, bacon, sausage gravy,
fried potatoes, grits (see I did remember my promise from yesterday),
oatmeal, and some cornbread mush (good with lots of butter and
salt, pepper). Everyone have a good day. Intend to watch my UK Cats
play at noon (will be in front of the TV watching them).

With locomutt under the weather, think I'll fix myself some fried
potatoes, smothered with ketchup. The chili sounds good, too.

Joe, you want to bring him some your chicken noodle soup?

I definitely like yours better - with cheese, sans beer (never could drink something that tastes like stale crackers and leaves your mouth tasting like the bottom of a bird cage!)

Now, let's get down to breakfast. I have fixed for breakfast:
bacon, eggs, sausage patties, fried potatoes, biscuits and
sausage gravy, oatmeal and toast. Fixed a selection so you
can have your pick for breakfast. Sorry, forgot to fix grits this
morning. Will fix them tomorrow morning.

Mookie, I slept just fine last night: slept so good, I awakened at 4:45 EST,
couldn't go back to sleep so got up, and turned on the coffee. Laid back
down at 7:45, woke up about 9:15 or so. Locomutt's gone back to sleep.

How about a BIG ole pot of homemade beef vegetable soup w/cornbread
today? Think I'll make some beef stew while I'm at it. What's not eaten
can be put in the freezer for another day, right? For dessert, there will
be peanut butter pie (my sister makes great ones), pecan pie, and
homemade chocolate pie. (Can you tell I'm in a "pie" mood?

Paula, as far as I know, we don't have cornbread down here. What is it? [:I]
Bread made from corn flour instead of wheat flour?

Dave [:)]

Dave,
Yes, corn meal is like flour. Corn ground up very, very fine. You take
the corn meal, put it in a bowl, add an egg, and some milk or
buttermilk, to mix it up. While you are doing that, you take a skillet
(or other pan), melt shortening, and let it get hot. When your
shortening is hot, you pour just a little bit of it into your cornmeal,
stir it in, and then pour it into the skillet (or pan). You can then
"fry" the cornbread on the stove top, or you can put in the oven
to bake. And Larry (tree68) is correct: a cast iron skillet is the
best to use to make cornbread in. The cornbread just has a
better taste to it when it's cooked in a cast iron skillet.

When you put it on the stove top, you turn it over with a spatula
(Mama always put a large plate upside down over the skillet
and flipped it over and righted the skillet, and turned the plate
back over the skillet to place the uncooked top into the skillet
for that side to "fry". And if you have any cornbread left over after
you eat, later around bedtime, a cup with crumbled cornbread
with buttermilk (or plain milk) poured over the cornbread makes
a terrific bedtime snack.

What do you use to hunt a house? .30-06 seems a little small, maybe a .450 Marlin or .458 Weatherby. Bet you'll have to shoot it more than once.

It's easier back here. The houses don't move.
