No Mookie, CW and I did not hide the cake. Must have been Dan, or
whomever else was in his over night. Although, have you found the
Meow Mix yet? The cake might be close by the Meow Mix.[:D]

Under the couch,maybe?

Besides,Joe & Matt had more to do with than CW & I[:)][;)]

Good morning everybody! Well, it's a nice RAINY day here in Louisville.
For breakfast this morning, we will have:

Bacon, eggs, toast, pancakes and syrup, oatmeal and toast.

You can have your pick of any or all of the above. Everything is set up on
the breakfast bar keeping nice and warm: giving the waitress the day
off for her birthday. But she'd better show up for lunch so she can cut
her birthday cake (and I believe it is a BIG one too: thanks Joe and Matt.

I know a lot of schools have contracts with Coke or Pepsi to "Place" a machine in the school. The money goes to help fulling in the budget holes. Delaware was good for that policy. Sorry state of affairs.
I now live in WI.

NY had/has "Matilda's Law" (after former Governor Cuomo's wife) which banned carbonated beverages in schools (at least during school hours). I think candy and other snacks might have been subject to the law, too. Poor kids were denied their Mountain Dew...

LC, thanks for the recipe. We'll fix it in a couple of days, after I go back to
the grocery. I'll need to stock up on the peas, celery and thyme.

CW, I looked a bit further and I even found their recipie. I'm surprised they give it out. Perhaps it is the ol' Viking in me that likes it....

Andersen's Split Pea Soup

8 cups water
2 cups green split peas
1 Rib celery, chopped
1 large carrot, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1/4 tsp thyme
Dash red pepper sauce
1 bay leaf
Salt
Pepper
Combine water, peas, celery, carrot, onion, thyme, red pepper, and bay leaf in large kettle. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Boil vigorously 20 minutes, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer until split peas are tender. Press soup through fine sieve and reheat just to boiling point.

Good morning, everyone. For breakfast, we will have bacon, eggs, sausage
and pancakes with syrup. Fixing a whole big bunch of it all, and putting it
on the breakfast bar in warmers so it will stay warm for people coming in
after early church services.

Lunch and supper will be a new big batch of beef stew and cornbread.

Everybody have a good day, and be careful and safe out there today!

I see that the special today is Beef Stew. Sounds great, but I was wondering if I might prevail upon the chef for some split pea soup with chopped all beef hot dogs in it and croutons and some of that great cornbread and fresh butter...?

Please...

LC

LC, give me the recipe for the split pea soup, and I'll make it for you. Have never
made it before, but I'll give it a shot.

Well, I order mine from a place in California. It's called Pea Soup Andersen's and they run a couple of nice restaurants based around their famous pea soup. It is canned, but still tastes great. I add the hot dogs usually using all beef franks. I cut them into about 1/3 inch sections then halve each section. Croutons are just toasted bread sometimes with a little bit of garlic or a pinch of thyme if I am feeling ambitious. It's the ol' firehouse chef in me...lol...

Good morning everyone! Nice rainy morning here in Louisville. Reminds you of
the old Carpenter"s song, "Rainy Days & Mondays". We are supposed to have
some nasty storms here by tonight, in the morning. Uuggh.

Breakfast will be bacon, eggs, sausage, gravy, and fried potatoes. Going to
give everyone a hearty breakfast so they can do good work today. Plenty of
beef stew and cornbread left for lunch and supper.

That split pea soup sounds pretty good, after preparing two fire trucks for a parade, then watching the parade. Being Christmastime in the north country IT WAS COLD!

Just got back a little while ago from the store. Got the stew meat, carrots
and tomato sauce for the beef stew. It'll be ready in a little bit. Happy
eating. We'll also have chocolate cake for desert. [dinner] [dinner]

Pancakes and coffee please.

It looks like we have a new home. Its just about a 1/2 mile of a Wisc and Southern line heading north from Janesville to Milton. The owner told me that the circus train came through once (pretty cool). It's a nice home with a nice yard for my little lady....

Hmmm.. Any late night snacks in the fridge? That soup oughta warm up nice. Must be some homemade bread in the area, too...

Only trainwatching I did today was the outer fringes of wreck cleanup. Boom trucks, GP38 with 5 hoppers of ballast. Think the line might be open again, though...

What do you use to hunt a house? .30-06 seems a little small, maybe a .450 Marlin or .458 Weatherby. Bet you'll have to shoot it more than once.
