Okay everyone. I'll start making all kinds of cookies to fill the cookie jar around
here: sugar cookies decorated for Easter, chocolate chip w/mint, TollHouse
w/English walnuts for Mookie, no-bake chocolate oatmeal, regular oatmeal,
oatmeal w/raisins and black walnuts, etc., etc., etc.

Joe, I went ahead earlier, and got the beef stew started at home, and brought
it in. It's on the stove, and is ready to serve, along with the cornbread. Also
have a pot of chilli going. With wet, damp rain setting it, stew, chilli, and other
soups just hit the spot, don't they? So with your pot of stew, we should have
enough for everyone today.

Hmmm.....just finished left over pasta. It is good even cold! And garlic bread....purrfect!

Finally - we got some good rain! And we may even get some good snow - just not a lot here in the SE. Most of it out west where it belongs. Ranchers just love calving and snow!

Of course - it is all moving east for the rest of the nation to enjoy!

Think I saw a mouse.....off to investigate......

MC - kiss the boys for me!

They can predict rain all they want - it just doesn't happen. Now snow - and especially ice - when it drops to be cold enough to have either or both - then we will GET that...just a simple shower or rain - nope!

Grrr -

OOO....kitty growls!

We've not had all the big winds yet, although in a little town in Spencer County,
KY had an F-0 tornado touch down Saturday evening. No one hurt, just a lot
of stuff blown around, and down.

Currently, it's about 46-47 degrees, supposed to go up another degree or two
today, then rain comes in late tonight, or early tomorrow. Could have some
thunderstorms tomorrow, also.

The BBQ Chicken was delicious - even though what I had was some left over from our event last weekend. The stuff is great, even warmed up! I'll bet Tom's was just as great.![dinner]

Beautiful weather all weekend, although just south of us they got snow most of both days. Ah, March.

Mookie - make sure the ribbons on your bonnet are in good repair. It's that time of year

Good Morning - today's weather in the middle of the US is dampish. Supposed to get rain - but we don't believe in rain, so we get "dampish". Piddle at 11pm and piddle at 1 am - news at 8am.

45 degrees today after an overnight low of 38.

From the land of not much happens at any time!

Reporterette Mookie.

PS - Tom/ CW - wipe the BBQ off your chins!

Good morning everyone! Breakfast this morning is all the usual items:

biscuits/gravy, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, toast, fried potatoes, etc.
The breakfast special today is cooked rice: you know, where you put
sugar in the rice, add milk (if you want), and eat it with toast. Where's
NJ Mike? We're out of the fresh squeezed orange juice, and with my
arthtitic hands this morning, I can't squeeze the juice.

Lunch will be regular lunch menu items. Haven't planned a special for
lunch today. Will get back to you later, with supper special menu.

As I mentioned above, I spent all day Saturday at the Annual Conference of the Center for Railroad Photography & Art "Conversations about Photography" at Lake Forest (IL) College. It is a great outing and I recommend the organization for anyone wishing to get ideas from the "masters" on how to improve your photography.

For me the highlight was meeting *** Steinheimer and having him sign his new book. Because of his health, his wife Shirley Burnam now presents his work at these kinds of meeting and also handles all of the work attendent to his vast collection. His work is just awsome. Upon his introduction the 125 or so attending gave *** a well deserved standing ovation.

Trains staffers were well representated and I had a chance to say hello and chat with Kathy Kube, Matt VanHattem (said reader reponse to The Brady Bunch thing was either "I hate it", or "I thought it was great", no in between.), John Gruber, Trains Preservation Section and head of the Center, John McGonigal, Classic Trains Ed. and Jim Wrinn, new Trains Editor. The Magazines are in good hands. Also had a chance to visit again with frequent photo contributor Mel Patrick, who, as I, once worked on the Illinois Central and is a long time friend of Mark Hemphill.

Also had a chance to hello to Gary Fencik. You would have to be at least a 20 year Chicago sports fan to get that.

The Center's web site is a couple of posts up.
